| 2 | Hoy izaho: hitandrina ny lalako aho ka tsy hanota amin’ ny lelako; hasiako fehim-bava ny vavako, raha mbola eo anatrehako ny ratsy fanahy. | I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred. |
| 3 | Nangina mihitsy aho, namihim-bava ka tsy nilaza na dia ny tsara aza, dia nihetsika mafy ny fanaintainan’ ny aretiko. | My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue, |
| 4 | Nafana ny foko tato anatiko; raha nieritreritra aho, dia nisy afo nirehitra, ka niteny tamin’ ny lelako aho. | Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. |

| 11 | Aoka hitsahatra ny fikapohanao ahy; reraka aho azon’ ny famelin’ ny tananao. | When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah. |
