hymnus David aleph exaltabo te Deus meus rex et benedicam nomini tuo in aeternum et ultra Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
beth in omni die benedicam tibi et laudabo nomen tuum in sempiternum iugiter My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
gimel magnus Deus et laudabilis nimis et magnificentiae eius non est inventio Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
deleth generatio ad generationem laudabit opera tua et fortitudines tuas adnuntiabunt Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
he decorem gloriae magnitudinis tuae et verba mirabilium tuorum loquar Bow thy heavens, O Lord, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
vav et fortitudinem horribilium tuorum loquentur et magnitudines tuas narrabo Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.
zai memoriam multae bonitatis tuae loquentur et iustitias tuas laudabunt Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;
heth clemens et misericors Dominus patiens et multae miserationis Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
teth bonus Dominus omnibus et misericordiae eius in universa opera eius I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.
ioth confiteantur tibi Domine omnia opera tua et sancti tui benedicant tibi It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.
caph gloriam regni tui dicent et fortitudines tuas loquentur Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
lameth ut ostendant filiis hominum fortitudines eius et gloriam decoris regni eius That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:
mem regnum tuum regnum omnium saeculorum et potestas tua in omni generatione et generatione That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:
samech sustentat Dominus omnes corruentes et erigit universos iacentes That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.
ain oculi eorum in te sperant et tu das eis escam suam in tempore suo Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.
fe aperis manus tuas et imples omne animal refectione —
sade iustus Dominus in omnibus viis suis et sanctus in omnibus operibus suis —
