¶ Olsem na mi bin go bek, na tingim na skelim olgeta dispela pasin bilong givim hevi ol man i mekim aninit long san. Na lukim ol aiwara bilong kain man husat i kisim taim long narapela, na ol i no gat wanpela bilong givim bel isi. Na long sait bilong ol man husat i givim hevi pawa i stap, tasol ol i no gat wanpela bilong givim bel isi. | So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.
Olsem na mi litimapim nem bilong ol daiman husat i dai pinis moa long ol man i stap laip husat i stap laip yet. | Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive.
Yes, man husat i no bin kamap yet, husat i no bin lukim dispela wok nogut i kamap aninit long san, em i winim dispela tupela arapela wantaim. | Yea, better is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.
¶ Na gen, mi tingim na skelim olgeta hatwok wantaim pen, na olgeta wan wan stretpela wok, long man i stap klostu long em i gat mangal tingting long sindaun bilong em long dispela. Dispela tu em i wanpela samting nating na samting bilong givim hevi long spirit. | Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.
Krankiman i holimpas tupela han bilong em wantaim, na kaikai bodi bilong em yet. | The fool foldeth his hands together, and eateth his own flesh.
Wanpela han i pulap wantaim pasin bilong stap isi i gutpela moa long tupela han i pulap wantaim hatwok wantaim pen na samting bilong givim hevi long spirit. | Better is an handful with quietness, than both the hands full with travail and vexation of spirit.
¶ Nau mi bin go bek, na mi lukim samting nating aninit long san. | Then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun.
I gat wanpela i stap wanpis, na i no gat namba tu i stap. Yes, em i no gat pikinini o brata tu. Yet i no gat pinis bilong olgeta hatwok bilong em. Na tu ai bilong em i no ting long planti mani samting em inap tru. Na tu em i no tok, Mi hatwok long husat, na mekim tewel bilong mi stap nating long ol gutpela samting? Dispela tu em i samting nating, yes, em i hatwok wantaim pen i strong tru. | There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he hath neither child nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labour; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither saith he, For whom do I labour, and bereave my soul of good? This is also vanity, yea, it is a sore travail.
Tupela i gutpela moa long wanpela. Bilong wanem, ol i gat gutpela pe long hatwok bilong ol. | Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
Long wanem, sapos ol i pundaun, wanpela bai litimapim poroman bilong em. Tasol tok lukaut i go long man husat i stap wanpis taim em i pundaun. Long wanem, em i no gat narapela bilong helpim em long sanap gen. | For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
Na gen, sapos tupela i slip wantaim, orait ol i gat hat. Tasol wanpela i ken hatim skin em wanpela olsem wanem? | Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?
Na sapos wanpela i winim em, tupela i bai sanap strong na birua long em. Na rop ol i wokim wantaim tripela hap rop i no save bruk kwiktaim. | And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
¶ Wanpela pikinini husat i rabisman na i gat save tru i gutpela moa long wanpela lapun king i kranki, husat i no laik kisim strongpela skul moa. | Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished.
Long wanem, em i lusim kalabus bilong kam bosim kingdom. We olsem tu king husat mama i karim long kingdom bilong em i kamap rabisman. | For out of prison he cometh to reign; whereas also he that is born in his kingdom becometh poor.
Mi bin tingim na skelim olgeta husat i stap laip husat i wokabaut aninit long san, wantaim namba tu pikinini husat bai sanap bilong kisim ples bilong em. | I considered all the living which walk under the sun, with the second child that shall stand up in his stead.
I no gat pinis bilong olgeta manmeri, yes, long olgeta husat i bin go pas long ol. Ol tu husat i kam bihain bai i no inap wokim amamas tru long em. Tru tumas, dispela tu em i wanpela samting nating na samting bilong givim hevi long spirit. | There is no end of all the people, even of all that have been before them: they also that come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and vexation of spirit.
