|---|---|---|
¶ Pikinini man bilong mi, harim gut save tru bilong mi, na lindaunim ia bilong yu long gutpela save bilong mi, | My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
Inap long yu ken lukluk gut long stretpela tingting, na inap long maus bilong yu i ken holimpas save. | That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
Long wanem, maus bilong narakain meri i ran i go daun isi isi olsem kom bilong hani, na maus bilong en i gat gris moa long wel. | For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
Tasol pinis bilong en i gat pait tru olsem womwut, sap olsem bainat i gat tupela sap. | But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.
Ol lek bilong en i go daun long dai. Ol step bilong en i holim gut hel. | Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.
Nogut yu tingim na skelim liklik rot bilong laip, olsem na ol pasin bilong en i save muv, inap long yu no inap save long ol. | Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
Olsem na harim mi nau, O yupela pikinini, na no ken lusim ol toktok bilong maus bilong mi. | Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
Tekewe rot bilong yu i go longwe long em, na no ken kam klostu long dua bilong haus bilong em. | Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
Nogut yu givim ona bilong yu long ol arapela, na ol yia bilong yu long ol man i amamas long givim pen. | Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
Nogut ol ausait man i pulap wantaim mani samting bilong yu. Na nogut ol hatwok bilong yu i stap long haus bilong ausait man, | Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
Na yu soim sori long pinis bilong en, taim mit bilong yu na bodi bilong yu i bagarap olgeta, | And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
Na tok, Mi bin birua tru long tok skul olsem wanem, na bel bilong mi i bin tingim tok bilong stretim i samting nating! | And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
Na mi no bin bihainim nek bilong ol tisa bilong mi, o putim ia bilong mi long ol husat i skulim mi! | And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
Klostu mi stap long olgeta pasin nogut namel bilong bung bilong ol manmeri na namel long bung. | I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
¶ Dringim ol wara i kam long tang bilong yu yet, na dringim ol wara i ran i kam ausait long hul wara bilong yu yet. | Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
Larim ol ai bilong wara i sut bilong yu i ken go nabaut, na ol riva bilong ol wara long ol rot. | Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
Larim ol i stap bilong yu yet tasol, na i no ken bilong ol ausait man wantaim yu. | Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.
Larim ai bilong wara i sut bilong yu i kisim blesing. Na wokim amamas tru wantaim meri yu maritim taim yu yangpela. | Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
Larim em i stap olsem wanpela haind i laikim tru, na gutpela ro. Larim tupela susu bilong em i ken inapim yu long olgeta taim, na larim laikim tru bilong em kirapim bel bilong yu oltaim. | Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
Na bilong wanem, pikinini man bilong mi, yu gat laik bagarap nogut wantaim narakain meri, na holimpas bros bilong ausait meri? | And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
Long wanem, ol rot bilong man i stap long ai bilong BIKPELA, na Em i tingim na skelim olgeta wokabaut bilong em. | For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.
Ol sin nogut bilong em yet bai kisim man nogut, na ol rop bilong ol sin bilong em bai holim em. | His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
Em bai dai na em i no kisim tok skul. Na long bikpela longlong pasin bilong em em bai lusim rot. | He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
