Long wanem, mi givim gutpela skul long yupela. Yupela no ken givim baksait long lo bilong mi. | For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
Long wanem, mi bin stap pikinini man bilong papa bilong mi, long ai bilong mama bilong mi mi no gat strong na mi wanpela i stap klostu tru long bel bilong em. | For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
Papa i skulim mi tu, na tokim mi, Larim bel bilong yu holim i stap ol toktok bilong mi. Holimpas ol strongpela tok bilong mi, na stap laip. | He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
Kisim save tru, kisim gutpela save. No ken lusim tingting long en. Na tu yu no ken lusim rot bilong ol toktok bilong maus bilong mi. | Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
No ken givim baksait long em, na em bai lukautim yu i stap. Laikim em tru, na em bai holimpas yu. | Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
Save tru em nambawan samting. Olsem na yu mas kisim save tru. Na wantaim olgeta samting yu kisim, kisim gutpela save. | Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Litimapim em, na bai em i litimapim yu. Em bai bringim yu long ona, taim yu holimpas em. | Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
Em bai givim wanpela bilas bilong marimari long het bilong yu. Wanpela hat king bilong glori bai em i givim long yu. | She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
Harim, O pikinini man bilong mi, na kisim ol toktok bilong mi. Na ol yia bilong laip bilong yu bai stap planti. | Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

¶ No ken go long liklik rot bilong ol man nogut, na no ken go long rot bilong ol man nogut. | Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
Abrusim dispela, no ken go klostu long en, tanim i lusim dispela, na wokabaut i go. | Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
Long wanem, ol i no slip, sapos ol i no bin mekim hambak pasin. Na slip bilong ol i go pinis, sapos ol i no mekim sampela man i pundaun. | For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
Long wanem, ol i kaikai bret bilong pasin nogut, na ol i dring wain bilong pasin pait. | For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
Tasol liklik rot bilong ol stretpela man em i olsem lait i strongpela, dispela i lait moa na moa i go inap long de i inap tru. | But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
Rot bilong man nogut em i olsem tudak. Ol i no save ol i sutim lek long wanem samting. | The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
¶ Pikinini man bilong mi, harim gut ol toktok bilong mi, putim ia bilong yu i go long ol toktok bilong mi. | My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
No ken larim ol lusim tupela ai bilong yu. Holimpas ol long namel bilong bel bilong yu. | Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
Long wanem, ol i stap laip long ol husat i painim ol pinis, na samting i mekim olgeta hap bilong bodi bilong ol i stap orait. | For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Holimpas bel bilong yu wantaim olgeta strong bilong yu. Long wanem, ol as bilong laip i save kamaut long en. | Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Rausim i go long yu maus i bikhet, na rausim maus i paul longwe long yu. | Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
Larim tupela ai bilong yu lukluk stret, na larim ol laplap bilong ai bilong yu i lukluk stret long rot bilong yu. | Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
Tingim na skelim liklik rot bilong ol lek bilong yu, na larim olgeta rot bilong yu i stap strong. | Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
No ken tanim i go long han sut o long han kais. Tekewe lek bilong yu long pasin nogut. | Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
