¶ Pikinini man bilong mi, no ken lusim tingting long lo bilong mi. Tasol larim bel bilong yu holimpas ol strongpela tok bilong mi. | My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
Long wanem, bai ol i skruim long yu planti de, na longpela laip, na bel isi. | For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
No ken larim sori na tok tru givim baksait long yu. Pasim ol nabaut long nek bilong yu. Raitim ol long tebol bilong bel bilong yu. | Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
Olsem na bai yu kisim gutpela amamas na gutpela save long ai bilong God na man. | So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
Bilip long BIKPELA wantaim bilong bel bilong yu olgeta. Na no ken lindaun long gutpela save bilong yu yet. | Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Long olgeta rot bilong yu, luksave long Em, na Em bai stiaim ol liklik rot bilong yu. | In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
¶ No ken stap saveman long ai bilong yu yet. Pret long BIKPELA, na lusim pasin nogut. | Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
Em bai stap samting i mekim bitono bilong yu i stap orait, na kru bilong ol bun bilong yu. | It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Givim ona long BIKPELA wantaim ol samting bilong yu, na wantaim ol namba wan kaikai bilong olgeta win samting bilong yu. | Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
Olsem tasol bai ol haus kaikai bilong yu i pulap long planti samting, na ol masin bilong krungutim wain bilong yu bai kapsait ausait wantaim nupela wain. | So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
Pikinini man bilong mi, no ken tingim stik bilong stretim bilong BIKPELA em i samting nating. Na tu , no ken les tru long wok bilong Em bilong stretim yu. | My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction:
Long wanem, husat BIKPELA i laikim tru Em i save stretim, yes, olsem papa i save stretim pikinini man husat Em i gat gutpela amamas long en. | For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
¶ Amamas i stap long man husat i painim pinis save tru, na man husat i kisim gutpela save. | Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
Long wanem, kago bilong en i winim kago bilong silva, na win samting bilong en i winim naispela gol. | For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
Em i dia tumas moa long ol ston rubi. Na olgeta samting yu ken laikim, ol i no inap i long skelim wantaim em. | She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
Ol planti de i stap long han sut bilong em. Na ol planti mani samting na ona i stap long han kais bilong em. | Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
Ol rot bilong em i ol gutpela rot, na olgeta liklik rot bilong en em bel isi. | Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
Em i diwai bilong laip long ol husat i holim em. Na amamas i stap long olgeta wan wan husat i holim em i stap. | She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
Long save tru BIKPELA i bin kamapim dispela graun. Long gutpela save Em i bin wokim ol heven. | The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
Long save bilong Em, ol ples daunbilo i bruk bruk, na ol klaut i lusim wara bilong nait i kam daun. | By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
¶ Pikinini man bilong mi, no ken larim ol lusim ai bilong yu. Holimpas strongpela save tru na stretpela tingting. | My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
Olsem tasol bai ol i stap laip long tewel bilong yu, na marimari long nek bilong yu. | So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
Nau bai yu wokabaut long rot bilong yu na stap gut, na lek bilong yu bai i no inap sutim ston. | Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
Taim yu slip, bai yu no inap pret. Yes, yu bai slip, na slip bilong yu bai swit. | When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
No ken pret long pret i kamap wantu, na tu long bagarap nogut bilong ol man nogut, taim dispela i kamap. | Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
Long wanem, BIKPELA bai stap strongpela bilip bilong yu, na Em bai holimpas lek bilong yu long samting i no ken kisim. | For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
¶ No ken holim bek gutpela samting long ol husat yu gat dinau long ol, taim strong i stap long han bilong yu long mekim dispela. | Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.
No ken tokim man i stap klostu long yu, Go, na kam gen, na tumora mi bai givim yu, taim yu gat dispela klostu long yu. | Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
No ken kamapim plen nogut i birua long man i stap klostu long yu, taim yu luksave long em i stap gut klostu long yu. | Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
No ken pait wantaim man sapos i no gat as bilong en, sapos em i no bin bagarapim yu liklik. | Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
Yu no ken mangal long man bilong givim hevi, na yu no ken makim bilong kisim wanpela bilong ol rot bilong em. | Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
Long wanem, bikhet man em i sting samting long BIKPELA. Tasol tok hait bilong Em i stap wantaim ol stretpela man. | For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.
Tok nogut bilong BIKPELA i stap long haus bilong man nogut. Tasol Em i blesim haus bilong stretpela man. | The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
Tru tumas, Em i tok bilas long ol man bilong tok bilas. Tasol Em i givim marimari long ol man i stap daunbilo. | Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
Saveman bai kisim glori olsem samting papa i givim pikinini. Tasol sem bai stap samting bilong litimapim bilong ol krankiman. | The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
