| 2 | Bilong save long save tru na tok skul, bilong kisim save long ol toktok bilong gutpela save, | To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; |
| 3 | Bilong kisim skul bilong save tru, stretpela kot, na save bilong skelim, na stretpela kot tru, | To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; |
| 4 | Bilong givim gutpela tingting i antap tumas long man i no gat save, na bilong givim save na stretpela tingting long yangpela man. | To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. |
| 5 | Saveman bai harim, na em bai kisim skul i kamap planti moa. Na man bilong gutpela save bai kamap long ol tok helpim bilong save tru, | A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: |
| 6 | Bilong kisim save long wanpela provep, na as tingting bilong en, na ol toktok bilong saveman, na ol toktok hait bilong ol. | To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. |
| 7 | ¶ Pret long BIKPELA em i stat bilong save. Tasol ol krankiman i tingim olsem save tru na tok skul i samting nating. | The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. |
| 8 | Pikinini man bilong mi, harim tok skul bilong papa bilong yu, na no ken givim baksait long lo bilong mama bilong yu. | My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: |
| 9 | Long wanem, ol bai stap wanpela bilas bilong marimari long het bilong yu, na ol sen nabaut long nek bilong yu. | For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. |
| 10 | ¶ Pikinini man bilong mi, sapos ol sinman i laik pulim yu, yu no ken tok yes long ol. | My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. |
| 11 | Sapos ol i tok, Kam wantaim mipela, larim yumi wet hait bilong kapsaitim blut, larim yumi hait i stap bilong kisim man i no bin mekim rong, maski i no gat as long mekim olsem. | If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: |
| 12 | Larim yumi daunim ol olsem kaikai i gat laip olsem matmat, na olgeta, olsem ol husat i go daun insait long bikpela hul. | Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: |
| 13 | Yumi bai painim pinis olgeta kain kago i dia tumas, yumi bai pulapim ol haus bilong yumi long kago bilong pait. | We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: |
| 14 | Tromoi ol samting bilong yu wantaim mipela. Larim yumi olgeta i ken gat wanpela paus mani. | Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: |
| 15 | Pikinini man bilong mi, yu no ken wokabaut long rot wantaim ol. Pasim lek bilong yu long go long liklik rot bilong ol. | My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: |
| 16 | Long wanem, ol lek bilong ol i ran i go long pasin nogut, na ol i go hariap bilong kapsaitim blut. | For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. |
| 17 | Tru tumas, ol i putim nating umben long ai bilong wanpela pisin. | Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. |
| 18 | Na ol i wet hait bilong kapsaitim blut bilong ol yet. Ol i hait i stap bilong bagarapim ol laip bilong ol yet. | And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives. |
| 19 | Olsem tasol em rot bilong olgeta wan wan husat i gridi long bungim ol win samting, husat i tekewe laip bilong papa bilong en. | So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof. |
| 20 | ¶ Save tru i stap ausait na singaut. Em i autim nek bilong em long ol rot. | Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: |
| 21 | Em i singaut long nambawan ples bilong bung, long ol ples bilong ol dua bilong banis i op. Long biktaun em i autim ol toktok bilong em, i spik, | She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying, |
| 22 | Yupela man i no gat save, bai yupela i laikim tru pasin i no gat save inap long wanem taim? Na ol man bilong tok bilas bai gat gutpela amamas long tok bilas bilong ol, na ol krankiman i no laikim tru save inap long wanem taim? | How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? |
| 23 | Yupela tanim long stretim bilong mi. Harim, mi bai kapsaitim spirit bilong mi long yupela, mi bai mekim yupela save long ol toktok bilong mi. | Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. |
| 24 | Bikos mi bin singaut, na yupela tok nogat, mi bin stretim han bilong mi i go ausait, na i no gat man i tingim gut. | Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; |
| 25 | Tasol yupela bin mekim olgeta tok helpim bilong mi long stap nating, na yupela i no laikim wanpela hap bilong wok bilong mi long stretim yupela. | But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: |
| 26 | Mi tu bai lap long bagarap bilong yupela. Mi bai wokim pani long daunim yupela taim pret bilong yupela i kam, | I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; |
| 27 | Taim pret bilong yupela i kam olsem ples i stap nating, na bagarap olgeta bilong yupela i kam olsem raunwin, taim taim hevi na hevi i krungutim i kam antap long yupela. | When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. |
| 28 | Nau bai ol i singaut long mi, tasol mi bai i no inap bekim tok. Ol bai wok long painim mi hariap, tasol ol bai i no inap lukim mi. | Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: |
| 29 | Long wanem, ol i no laikim tru save, na ol i no bin makim pret long BIKPELA bilong kisim. | For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord: |
| 30 | Ol i no laikim wanpela hap bilong tok helpim bilong mi. Ol i tingim olgeta wok bilong mi long stretim i samting nating. | They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. |
| 31 | Olsem na bai ol i kaikai kaikai bilong pasin bilong ol yet, na stap pulap long ol plen bilong ol yet. | Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. |
| 32 | Long wanem, taim ol man i no gat save i tanim i go, dispela pasin bai kilim ol i dai, na gutpela sindaun bilong ol krankiman bai bagarapim ol olgeta. | For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. |
| 33 | Tasol husat man i harim mi bai stap gut, na em bai stap isi long pret bilong samting nogut. | But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. |
