¶ Nau man Suak Bildat i bekim, na tok, | Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
Inap long wanem taim bai yu toktok long ol dispela samting? Na inap long wanem taim bai ol toktok bilong maus bilong yu i stap olsem wanpela strongpela win? | How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
Ating God i paulim kot? O ating Man i Gat Olgeta Strong i paulim stretpela kot? | Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?
Sapos ol pikinini bilong yu i bin mekim sin i birua long Em, na Em i bin rausim ol i go bilong pasin bilong ol bilong kalapim lo, | If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;
Sapos yu gat laik long painim God hariap, na mekim autim askim bilong yu i go long Man i Gat Olgeta Strong, | If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
Sapos yu stap klin na stretpela, tru tumas, nau Em bai kirap long slip bilong helpim yu, na mekim ples bilong stretpela pasin bilong yu long kamap gutpela. | If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
Maski long stat bilong yu i liklik, yet las hap bilong yu bai kamap bikpela moa tru. | Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.
¶ Long wanem, askim, mi askim yu plis, long dispela taim bipo, na redim yu yet long painimaut tru bilong ol tumbuna papa long ol. | For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:
(Long wanem, yumi stap bilong asde tasol, na yumi no save long wanpela samting, bilong wanem, ol de bilong yumi long dispela graun i wanpela tewel bilong san.) | (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)
Ating i yes long ol bai skulim yu, na tokim yu, na kolim sampela toktok i kam ausait long ol bel bilong ol? | Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
Ating pitpit ras i ken go bikpela taim i no gat graun malumalu? Ating pitpit plak i ken go bikpela taim i no gat wara? | Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?
Taim dispela i stap yet long grinpela bilong en, na ol i no katim i go daun, em i go drai bipo long olgeta arapela sayor. | Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.
Olsem tasol em ol liklik rot bilong olgeta husat i lusim tingting long God. Na hop bilong man bilong tupela maus bai dai olgeta, | So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish:
Husat hop bilong em bai ol i rausim olgeta, na husat bilip bilong em bai stap wanpela haus bilong spaida. | Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider’s web.
Em bai lindaun antap long haus bilong em, tasol dispela bai i no inap sanap. Em bai holim dispela strong, tasol dispela i no inap stap yet. | He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.
Em i grinpela long ai bilong san, na han diwai bilong em i sutim i go ausait insait long gaden bilong em. | He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.
Ol rop daunbilo bilong em i tantanim nabaut long hip, na lukim ples bilong ol ston. | His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.
Sapos em i bagarapim em olgeta long ples bilong em, nau dispela bai tok nogat long em, i spik, Mi no bin lukim yu. | If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.
Lukim, dispela em i amamas tru bilong rot bilong em, na ausait long dispela graun ol arapela bai kamap bikpela. | Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.
¶ Lukim, God bai i no inap rausim i go wanpela man i inap tru, na tu Em bai i no inap helpim ol man i wokim pasin nogut, | Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:
Inap long Em i pulimapim maus bilong yu wantaim pasin bilong lap, na tupela lip bilong maus bilong yu wantaim pasin bilong wokim amamas tru. | Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.
Ol husat i hetim yu tru bai werim sem olsem klos. Na ples bilong stap bilong ol man nogut bai kamap samting nating. | They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.
