¶ Nau Jop i bekim na tok, | Then Job answered and said,
Mi save dispela em i olsem em i tru. Tasol man i ken stap stretpela wantaim God olsem wanem? | I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
Sapos em i laik tok pait strong wantaim Em, em i no inap bekim Em wanpela bilong wan tausen. | If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
Em i saveman tru long bel, na Em i strongpela long strong. Husat i bin strongim bel bilong em yet i birua long Em, na bin kamap gutpela? | He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
Husat i rausim ol maunten i go, na ol i no save , husat i kapsaitim ol long belhat bilong Em. | Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
Husat i seksekim dispela graun ausait long ples bilong en, na ol bikpela pos bilong en i guria. | Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
Husat i tok strong long san, na em i no kamap long moning, na Em i pasim ol sta. | Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
Husat Em wanpela i opim i go ol heven, na krungutim lek antap long sibruk bilong biksi. | Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
Husat i wokim Arkturas, Oraion, na Pliedes, na ol rum bilong hap saut. | Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
Husat i mekim ol bikpela samting i abrusim mak bilong painimaut. Yes, na ol bikpela wok i winim tingting i no gat namba bilong kaunim. | Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
Harim, Em i go klostu long mi, na mi no lukim Em. Em i wokabaut klostu i go tu, tasol mi no kisim save long Em i stap. | Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
Lukim, Em i tekewe, husat i ken pasim Em? Husat bai tokim Em, Yu mekim wanem? | Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
Sapos God i no laik surikim belhat bilong Em, ol hambak man bilong helpim i lindaun aninit long Em. | If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
¶ Hamas liklik moa bai mi bekim tok long Em, na makim ol toktok bilong mi bilong stretim tok wantaim Em. | How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?
Husat, maski mi stretpela, yet mi no inap bekim tok, tasol mi bai mekim autim askim i go long Jas bilong mi. | Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.
Sapos mi bin singaut, na Em i bin bekim tok long mi, yet bai mi no inap bilip long Em i bin harim long nek bilong mi. | If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.
Long wanem, Em i brukim mi wantaim wanpela bikwin nogut, na mekim ol bagarap bilong mi i kamap nating planti moa. | For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
Em bai i no inap larim mi pulim win bilong mi, tasol Em i pulimapim mi wantaim bel i bagarap tru. | He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
Sapos mi toktok long strong, harim, Em i strong. Na sapos mi toktok long kot, husat bai makim wanpela taim bilong mi bilong toktok wantaim strongpela askim? | If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead?
Sapos mi mekim mi yet stretpela, maus bilong mi yet bai sutim tok long mi. Sapos mi tok, Mi inap tru, dispela tu bai pruvim mi paul. | If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
Maski mi inap tru, yet bai mi no gat laik long save long tewel bilong mi yet. Mi bai tingim laip bilong mi olsem i samting nating. | Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
¶ Dispela em i wanpela samting, olsem na mi tok pinis long dispela, Em i bagarapim man olgeta i inap tru na man nogut. | This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
Sapos wip i kilim i dai wantu, Em bai lap long traim bilong man i no bin mekim rong. | If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
Dispela graun Em i givim long han bilong man nogut. Em i karamapim ol pes bilong ol jas bilong en. Sapos nogat, em i we, na em i husat? | The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?
¶ Nau ol de bilong mi i hariap moa long wanpela man bilong karim pas. Ol i ranawe i go, ol i no lukim gutpela samting. | Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
Ol i go pinis olgeta olsem ol sip i ran hariap, olsem igal i hariap i go long abus. | They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey.
Sapos mi tok, Mi bai lusim tingting long wari bilong mi, mi bai lusim i go hevi bilong mi, na givim bel isi long mi yet, | If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself:
Mi pret long olgeta bel hevi bilong mi. Mi save long Yu no inap long makim mi olsem man i no bin mekim rong. | I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
Sapos mi man nogut, bilong wanem nau mi hatwok nating? | If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
Sapos mi wasim mi yet wantaim wara bilong ais, na mekim ol han bilong mi i no bin klin bipo olsem, | If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
Yet bai Yu tromoi mi i go long baret, na klos bilong mi yet bai ting olsem mi sting olgeta. | Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.
Long wanem, Em i no stap wanpela man, olsem mi, long mi ken bekim tok long em, na mitupela i ken kam bung wantaim bilong kot. | For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.
Na tu i no gat wanpela man bilong stretim hevi namel long mitupela, husat i ken putim han bilong em antap long mitupela wantaim. | Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.
Larim Em tekewe stik bilong Em long mi, na no ken larim pret bilong Em i ken pretim mi nogut tru. | Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
Nau bai mi toktok, na mi no inap pret long Em. Tasol em i no olsem long mi. | Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.
