¶ Tasol Jop i bekim na tok, | But Job answered and said,
O sapos ol i ken skelim olgeta hap bilong bel sori bilong mi, na bikpela hevi bilong mi ol i ken putim long ol skel wantaim! | Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!
Long wanem, nau em bai stap hevi moa long wesan bilong biksi. Olsem na ol toktok bilong mi ol i daunim olsem kaikai. | For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.
Long wanem, ol spia bilong Man i Gat Olgeta Strong i stap insait long mi, we marasin nogut bilong en i dringim spirit bilong mi. Ol pret nogut tru bilong God i putim ol yet long lain i birua long mi. | For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.
Ating wail donki i save krai taim em i gat gras? O bulmakau man i save krai strong antap long kaikai bilong em? | Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder?
Ol man i ken kaikai dispela samting i no swit taim i no gat sol? O ating i gat wanpela test long waitpela bilong kiau? | Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
Ol dispela samting tewel bilong mi i tok nogat long tasim i stap olsem kaikai bilong mi i gat bel hevi. | The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.
¶ O sapos mi ken kisim askim bilong mi, na long God i ken givim mi dispela samting mi gat laik tru long kisim! | Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!
Yes, long em i ken amamasim God long bagarapim mi olgeta, long Em i ken lusim han bilong Em, na rausim mi i go! | Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!
Nau mi ken kisim yet bel isi. Yes, Mi ken mekim mi yet kamap olsem ston long bel hevi. Larim Em i no ken soim sori. Long wanem, mi no bin haitim ol toktok bilong dispela Man Holi. | Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.
Strong bilong mi em i wanem, inap long mi ken hop? Na pinis bilong mi em i wanem, inap long mi ken mekim laip bilong mi i ken go yet? | What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?
Ating strong bilong mi em i strong bilong ol ston? O ating bodi bilong mi em i bras? | Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?
Ating i yes long help bilong mi i stap insait long mi? Na ating Em i bin ranim save tru i go longwe long mi? | Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?
¶ Long em husat i kisim hevi, pren bilong em i mas soim sori. Tasol em i givim baksait long pret long Man i Gat Olgeta Strong. | To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.
Ol brata bilong mi i bin wokim giaman olsem wanpela liklik wara, na olsem wara bilong ol liklik wara, ol bai pinis olgeta, | My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;
Dispela i blakpela liklik bikos ais i stap, na em i ples we ais i hait insait long en. | Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:
Wanem taim ol i wok long kamap hatpela liklik, ol i go pinis olgeta. Taim em i hat, hat i kaikai ol olgeta ausait long ples bilong ol. | What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.
Ol liklik rot bilong rot bilong ol i tanim long sait. Ol i go long nating, na dai olgeta. | The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.
Ol liklik ami bilong Tema i lukluk, ol lain ami bilong Siba i wetim ol. | The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.
Ol i paul tru, bilong wanem, ol i bin hop. Ol i kam long dispela hap, na ol i sem. | They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.
Long wanem, nau yupela i stap samting nating. Yupela i lukim tromoi i go daun bilong mi, na yupela i pret. | For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.
¶ Ating mi bin tok, Bringim long mi? O, Givim wanpela pe long mi bilong kago bilong yu? | Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?
O, Kisim bek mi long han bilong ol birua? O, Baim bek mi long han bilong strongpela man? | Or, Deliver me from the enemy’s hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?
Skulim mi, na mi bai pasim tang bilong mi. Na mekim mi long kisim save we mi bin lusim rot. | Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
Ol stretpela toktok i gat strong olsem wanem! Tasol ol tok pait bilong yupela i pruvim wanem? | How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?
Ating yupela tingting nating long stretim ol toktok, na ol toktok bilong wanpela husat gat traipela nid, dispela i stap olsem win? | Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?
Yes, yupela i karamapim na winim ol pikinini i no gat papa, na yupela digim wanpela bikpela hul bilong pren bilong yupela. | Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend.
Olsem na nau tok em inap, lukluk long mi. Long wanem, em i klia long yupela sapos mi giaman. | Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.
Tanim i go bek, mi askim yupela plis, no ken larim dispela i stap sin nogut. Yes, tanim i go bek gen, stretpela pasin bilong mi i stap insait long en. | Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.
Ating i gat sin nogut long tang bilong mi? Ating i yes long tang bilong mi i ken klia tru long testim ol samting i paul tru? | Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?
