¶ Nau man Teman Elifas i bekim na tok, | Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
Sapos mipela laik traim long stori wantaim yu, ating yu bai soim bel sori? Tasol husat i ken holim bek em yet long toktok? | If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?
Lukim, yu bin skulim planti, na yu bin strongim ol han i no gat strong. | Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands.
Ol toktok bilong yu i bin holim man antap husat i wok long pundaun, na yu bin strongim ol skru bilong lek i no gat strong. | Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.
Tasol nau dispela em i kam antap long yu, na yu wok long hap i dai. Dispela i tasim yu, na yu pilim wari. | But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
Ating i yes long dispela em i pret bilong yu, strongpela bilip bilong yu, hop bilong yu, na stretpela pasin bilong ol rot bilong yu? | Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?
¶ Holim tingting, mi askim yu plis, husat i bin dai olgeta, taim em i no bin mekim rong? O God i rausim olgeta ol stretpela man we? | Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?
Yes, olsem mi bin lukim, ol husat i brukim graun wantaim sin nogut, na planim pasin nogut, ol i kamautim wankain. | Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
Long pairap bilong God ol i dai olgeta, na long win bilong nus bilong Em Em i kaikai ol olgeta. | By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.
Bikpela krai bilong laion, na nek bilong laion i strong tru, na ol tit bilong ol yangpela laion, i bruk. | The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken.
Lapun laion i dai olgeta bikos em i sot long abus, na ol pikinini bilong strongpela laion i bruk nabaut ausait. | The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the stout lion’s whelps are scattered abroad.
¶ Nau wanpela samting hait ol i bringim long mi, na ia bilong mi i kisim liklik long en. | Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof.
Long ol tingting bilong ol driman samting bilong nait, taim slip i dip tru i pundaun antap long ol man, | In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men,
Pret i kam antap long mi, na pasin guria, dispela i mekim olgeta bun bilong mi long seksek. | Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.
Nau wanpela spirit i wokabaut long fran bilong pes bilong mi. Gras bilong bodi bilong mi i sanap. | Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:
Em i sanap isi, tasol mi no inap klia tru long kain olsem bilong en. Wanpela piksa i stap long ai bilong tupela ai bilong mi, i no gat nois, na mi harim wanpela nek, i spik, | It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,
Ating ol man i ken dai bai stap stretpela moa long God? Ating wanpela man bai stap klin moa long Man i wokim em? | Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
Lukim, Em i no putim bilip long ol wokboi bilong Em. Na ol ensel bilong En Em i kotim long longlong pasin bilong ol. | Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:
Hamas liklik moa long ol husat i stap long ol haus bilong retpela graun, husat as ston bilong ol i stap long das, dispela ol i krungutim long ai bilong bataplai bilong nait. | How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?
Ol i bagarapim ol olgeta i stat long moning i go long apinun tru. Ol i dai olgeta bilong oltaim oltaim na i no gat wanpela i bin tingting planti long dispela. | They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it.
Ating i yes long dispela nambawan pasin tru bilong ol i stap insait long ol i ranawe? Ol i dai, yes, na ol i no gat save tru. | Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.
