|---|---|---|
¶ Man husat mama i karim i no stap planti de, na em i pulap long trabel. | Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
Em i kam ausait olsem wanpela plaua, na Yu katim em i go daun. Em i ranawe tu olsem wanpela tewel bilong san, na em i no go yet. | He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
Na ating Yu opim tupela ai bilong Yu long kain man olsem, na bringim mi i go long kot wantaim Yu? | And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
Husat i ken bringim wanpela klinpela samting i kam ausait long wanpela samting i no klin? I no gat wanpela. | Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
Taim yumi luksave olsem ol de bilong em Yu makim pinis, namba bilong ol mun bilong em i stap wantaim Yu, Yu bin makim mak bilong arere bilong em, inap long em i no inap abrusim. | Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
Tanim na lusim em, inap long em i ken malolo, inap long em bai inapim, olsem wanpela man Yu baim long wok, de bilong em. | Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
¶ Long wanem, diwai i gat hop, sapos ol i katim i go daun, long em bai putim kru gen, na long han i no strong bilong en bai i no inap long pinis. | For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
Maski rop daunbilo bilong en i wok long kamap lapun insait long graun, na as diwai bilong en i dai long graun, | Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
Yet long smel bilong wara em bai putim kru, na mekim ol han bilong en kamap olsem wanpela samting ol i planim. | Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
Tasol man i dai, na pinis isi isi. Yes, man i lusim spirit bilong em, na em i stap we? | But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
Olsem ol wara i fel long biksi, na tait i pinis na i go drai, | As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
Olsem tasol man i slipim bodi, na em i no kirap. Inap long ol heven i no stap moa, ol bai i no inap kirap, o i gat wanpela i kirapim ol long slip bilong ol. | So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
O sapos Yu ken haitim mi long matmat, long Yu ken mekim mi stap hait, inap long belhat tru bilong Yu i pinis, long Yu ken makim mi wanpela taim, na tingim mi gen! | O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
Sapos wanpela man i dai pinis, bai em i stap laip gen? Olgeta de bilong taim Yu makim bilong mi bai mi wet, inap long senis bilong mi i kam. | If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
Yu bai singaut, na mi bai bekim Yu. Yu bai gat wanpela laik i go long wok bilong ol han bilong Yu. | Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
¶ Long wanem, nau Yu kaunim ol step bilong mi. Ating i yes long Yu was antap long sin bilong mi? | For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
Pasin bilong mi bilong kalapim lo i pas insait long wanpela bek, na Yu samapim ol sin nogut bilong mi. | My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.
Na tru tumas, maunten i pundaun i kamap samting nating, na ston Yu rausim long ples bilong en. | And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
Ol wara i mekim ol ston i go liklik. Yu wasim i go ol dispela samting i kamap bikpela ausait long das bilong dispela graun. Na Yu bagarapim hop bilong man olgeta. | The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
Yu winim em oltaim oltaim, na em i dai i go. Yu senisim pes bilong em, na salim em i go. | Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
Ol pikinini man bilong em i kamap ol man i gat biknem, na em i no save long en. Na ol man i mekim biknem bilong ol i go daunbilo, tasol em i no kisim save long dispela i kamap long ol. | His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
Tasol bodi bilong em antap long em bai gat pen, na tewel bilong em insait long em bai soim sori. | But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
