¶ Na tok bilong BIKPELA i kam long Jona namba tu taim, i spik, And the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying,
Kirap, go long Niniva, dispela bikpela biktaun, na autim tok long en long dispela autim tok Mi tokim yu. Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.
Olsem na Jona i kirap, na go long Niniva, bilong bihainim tok bilong BIKPELA. Nau Niniva em i wanpela bikpela biktaun tru bilong tripela de wokabaut. So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days’ journey.
Na Jona i stat long go insait long biktaun wanpela de wokabaut, na em i singaut, na tok, Yet 40 de, na Niniva bai bagarap. And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
¶ Olsem na ol manmeri bilong Niniva i bilipim God, na autim toksave long wanpela taim bilong tambuim kaikai, na putim bek laplap, i stat long nambawan bikman bilong ol, yes, i go long las man bilong ol. So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
Long wanem, tok i kam long king bilong Niniva, na em i kirap long sia king bilong em, na em i rausim longpela saket bilong em long em, na karamapim em yet wantaim bek laplap, na sindaun long sit bilong paia For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
Na em i mekim ol man long autim toksave na mekim i kamap ples klia long Niniva long strongpela tokaut bilong king wantaim ol bikman bilong em, i spik, Na tu no ken larim man o animal, lain bulmakau o lain sipsip, i testim wanpela samting. No ken larim ol i kaikai, o dringim wara. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
Tasol larim man na animal i karamap wantaim bek laplap, na krai strong long God. Yes, larim ol i tanim olgeta wan wan long lusim pasin nogut bilong em, na long dispela pasin pait i stap long ol han bilong ol. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.
Husat i ken save sapos God bai tanim na tanim bel, na tanim na lusim strongpela belhat bilong Em, inap long yumi no ken dai olgeta? Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
Na God i lukim ol wok bilong ol, long ol i tanim long pasin nogut bilong ol. Na God i tanim bel long samting nogut, dispela Em i bin tok long Em bai mekim long ol. Na Em i no mekim dispela. And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
