| 1 | ¶ Nau ol man bilong Isrel i bin wokim strongpela promis long Mispe, i spik, I no gat wanpela bilong mipela husat i ken givim pikinini meri bilong em long Benjamin long maritim. | Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife. |
| 2 | Na ol manmeri i kam long haus bilong God, na stap long dispela hap inap long apinun tru long ai bilong God, na litimapim ol nek bilong ol, na krai strong tru. | And the people came to the house of God, and abode there till even before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept sore; |
| 3 | Na ol i tok, O God BIKPELA bilong Isrel, bilong wanem dispela i kamap olsem long Isrel, inap long i ken gat tude wanpela lain i sot long Isrel? | And said, O Lord God of Israel, why is this come to pass in Israel, that there should be to day one tribe lacking in Israel? |
| 4 | Na em i kamap olsem long moning bihain, long ol manmeri i kirap long moning tru, na wokim long dispela hap wanpela alta, na ofaim ol ofa i kuk olgeta na ol ofa bilong givim bel isi. | And it came to pass on the morrow, that the people rose early, and built there an altar, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. |

Long wanem, ol i bin wokim wanpela bikpela strongpela promis long sait bilong man husat i no kam antap long BIKPELA long Mispe, i spik, Tru tumas, yumi bai mekim em i dai. | And the children of Israel said, Who is there among all the tribes of Israel that came not up with the congregation unto the Lord? For they had made a great oath concerning him that came not up to the Lord to Mizpeh, saying, He shall surely be put to death. |
| 6 | Na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i tanim bel bilong ol bilong tingim Benjamin, brata bilong ol, na tok, I gat wanpela lain i bruk pinis long Isrel tude. | And the children of Israel repented them for Benjamin their brother, and said, There is one tribe cut off from Israel this day. |
| 7 | Yumi bai mekim olsem wanem bilong givim ol meri long ol husat i stap yet, taim yumi i luksave olsem yumi bin wokim strongpela promis pinis long nem bilong BIKPELA long yumi bai i no inap givim ol bilong ol pikinini meri bilong yumi long maritim? | How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing we have sworn by the Lord that we will not give them of our daughters to wives? |
| 8 | Na ol i tok, Wanem wanpela lain i stap bilong ol lain bilong Isrel husat i no kam antap long Mispe long BIKPELA? Na, lukim, i no gat wanpela bilong kem bilong Jebes-gileat i kam long dispela bung. | And they said, What one is there of the tribes of Israel that came not up to Mizpeh to the Lord? And, behold, there came none to the camp from Jabesh–gilead to the assembly. |
| 9 | Long wanem, ol i kaunim ol manmeri, na, lukim, i no gat wanpela bilong ol husat i stap long Jebes-gileat long dispela hap. | For the people were numbered, and, behold, there were none of the inhabitants of Jabesh–gilead there. |
| 10 | Na bung bilong ol manmeri i salim 12,000 man long dispela hap husat i ol strongpela man bilong pait moa, na tok strong long ol, i spik, Go na paitim ol husat i stap long Jebes-gileat wantaim sap bilong bainat, wantaim ol meri na ol pikinini. | And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest, and commanded them, saying, Go and smite the inhabitants of Jabesh–gilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the children. |

Na ol i bringim ol i go long kem long Sailo, dispela i stap long hap bilong Kenan. | And they found among the inhabitants of Jabesh–gilead four hundred young virgins, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan. |
| 13 | Na bung bilong ol manmeri olgeta i salim sampela long toktok long ol pikinini bilong Benjamin husat i stap long ston Rimon, na long singaut long ol wantaim pasin bilong bel isi i go long ol. | And the whole congregation sent some to speak to the children of Benjamin that were in the rock Rimmon, and to call peaceably unto them. |
| 14 | Na Benjamin i kam gen long dispela taim. Na ol i givim ol ol meri husat ol i bin kisim bek laip bilong ol bilong ol meri bilong Jebes-gileat. Na yet olsem ol i no inapim ol. | And Benjamin came again at that time; and they gave them wives which they had saved alive of the women of Jabesh–gilead: and yet so they sufficed them not. |
| 15 | Na ol manmeri i tanim bel bilong ol bilong tingim Benjamin, bilong wanem, BIKPELA i bin wokim wanpela bruk long ol lain bilong Isrel. | And the people repented them for Benjamin, because that the Lord had made a breach in the tribes of Israel. |
| 16 | ¶ Nau ol lapun hetman bilong bung bilong ol manmeri i tok, Yumi bai mekim olsem wanem bilong givim ol meri long ol husat i stap yet, taim yumi luksave olsem ol meri i bagarap olgeta ausait long Benjamin? | Then the elders of the congregation said, How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing the women are destroyed out of Benjamin? |
| 17 | Na ol i tok, I mas i gat wanpela samting papa i givim pikinini bilong ol husat i abrusim bagarap bilong Benjamin, inap long wanpela lain i no bagarap olgeta ausait long Isrel. | And they said, There must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe be not destroyed out of Israel. |
| 18 | Tasol yumi i no ken givim ol ol meri i kam long ol pikinini meri bilong yumi. Long wanem, ol pikinini bilong Isrel i bin wokim strongpela promis, i spik, Tok nogut i stap long man husat i givim wanpela meri long Benjamin. | Howbeit we may not give them wives of our daughters: for the children of Israel have sworn, saying, Cursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin. |
| 19 | Nau ol i tok, Lukim, i gat wanpela bikpela kaikai bilong BIKPELA long Sailo olgeta wan wan yia long wanpela ples, dispela i stap long hap not sait bilong Betel, long is sait bilong dispela bikrot i lusim Betel i go long Sekem, na i stap long hap saut bilong Lebona. | Then they said, Behold, there is a feast of the Lord in Shiloh yearly in a place which is on the north side of Beth–el, on the east side of the highway that goeth up from Beth–el to Shechem, and on the south of Lebonah. |

| 21 | Na lukluk, na, lukim, sapos ol pikinini meri bilong Sailo i kam ausait long danis long ol danis, orait yupela kam ausait long ol gaden wain, na yupela holimpas, bilong olgeta wan wan man, meri bilong em bilong ol pikinini meri bilong Sailo, na yupela go long hap bilong Benjamin. | And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin. |

Long wanem, yupela i no bin givim long ol long dispela taim, inap long yupela ken gat asua. | And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be guilty. |

Na ol i go na go bek long samting papa i givim pikinini bilong ol, na stretim ol biktaun bilong ol, na stap long ol. | And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught: and they went and returned unto their inheritance, and repaired the cities, and dwelt in them. |
