¶ Nau em i kamap olsem long taim ol jas i bosim Isrel, long i gat wanpela bikpela taim hangre long dispela hap. Na wanpela man bilong Betlehem-juda i go bilong stap waira long kantri bilong Moap, em, na meri bilong em, na tupela pikinini man bilong em. Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Beth–lehem–judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.
Na nem bilong dispela man em Elimelek, na nem bilong meri bilong en em Neomi, na nem bilong tupela pikinini man bilong en em Malon na Kilion, ol man Efrat bilong Betlehem-juda. Na ol i kam insait long kantri bilong Moap, na stap olsem long dispela hap. And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Beth–lehem–judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.
Na Elimelek, man bilong Neomi, i dai pinis. Na meri i stap yet, na tupela pikinini man bilong em. And Elimelech Naomi’s husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.
Na tupela i maritim ol meri bilong ol meri bilong Moap. Nem bilong wanpela em Orpa, na nem bilong arapela em Rut. Na ol i sindaun long dispela hap klostu olsem tenpela yia. And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.
Na Malon na Kilion i dai pinis tu, tupela wantaim. Na meri i stap yet taim tupela pikinini man bilong em na man bilong em i dai pinis. And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.
¶ Nau em i kirap wantaim tupela tambu pikinini meri bilong em, inap long em i ken go bek na lusim kantri bilong Moap. Long wanem, em i bin harim long kantri bilong Moap long BIKPELA i bin kam lukim ol lain manmeri bilong Em olsem wanem long givim ol kaikai. Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the Lord had visited his people in giving them bread.
Olsem na meri i go ausait long ples we em i stap, na tupela tambu pikinini meri bilong em wantaim em. Na ol i go long rot long go bek long hap bilong Juda. Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.
Na Neomi i tokim tupela tambu pikinini meri bilong em, Goan, yutupela wan wan go bek long haus bilong mama bilong em. BIKPELA i ken mekim gutpela long yutupela, olsem yutupela i bin mekim long ol daiman, na long mi. And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother’s house: the Lord deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.
BIKPELA i ken tok orait long yutupela i ken painim malolo, yutupela wan wan, long hauslain bilong man bilong em. Nau em i givim kis long ol. Na ol i apim nek bilong ol, na krai tru. The Lord grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept.
Na tupela i tokim em, Tru tumas, mitupela bai go bek wantaim yu i go long lain bilong yu. And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.
Na Neomi i tok, Tanim gen, tupela pikinini meri bilong mi. Bilong wanem yutupela i laik go wantaim mi? Ating i gat ol pikinini man moa liklik i stap yet long bel bilong mi, inap long ol i ken kamap ol man bilong yutupela? And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?
Tanim gen, tupela pikinini meri bilong mi, go long rot bilong yutupela. Long wanem, mi lapun tumas long kisim man gen. Sapos mi ken tok, Mi gat hop, na sapos mi ken kisim man gen tu long tude nait, na tu mi ken karim ol pikinini man, Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;
Ating yutupela bai stap yet inap long ol i kamap bikpela pinis? Ating yutupela bai pas long kisim ol man long wetim ol? Nogat, tupela pikinini meri bilong mi. Long wanem, em i givim bel sori long mi planti, taim mi tingim yutupela, long han bilong BIKPELA i go ausait na birua long mi. Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.
Na ol i apim nek bilong ol, na krai tru gen. Na Orpa i givim kis long tambu mama bilong em. Tasol Rut i holimpas em strong. And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.
Na em i tok, Lukim, tambu susa bilong yu i go bek pinis long ol lain bilong em, na long ol god bilong em. Yu mas go bek na bihainim tambu susa bilong yu. And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.
Na Rut i tok, No ken mekim strongpela askim long mi mas lusim yu, o long mi mas go bek long bihainim yu. Long wanem, wanem ples yu bai go, Mi bai go. Na we yu bai stap, Mi bai stap. Lain bilong yu bai stap lain bilong mi, na God bilong yu bai stap God bilong mi. And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
We yu bai dai, mi bai dai, na long dispela hap ol bai planim mi. BIKPELA i mekim olsem long mi, na moa tu, sapos dai wanpela tasol i no brukim yu na mi. Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
Taim Neomi i luksave long em i gat strongpela tingting tru long go wantaim em, orait em i no toktok long em moa. When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.
¶ Olsem na tupela i go inap long ol i kamap long Betlehem. Na em i kamap olsem, taim ol i kamap long Betlehem, long olgeta bilong biktaun i kirap long sait bilong tupela, na ol i tok, Dispela em i Neomi? So they two went until they came to Beth–lehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Beth–lehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?
Na em i tokim ol, No ken kolim mi Neomi, kolim mi Mara. Long wanem, Man i Gat Olgeta Strong i bin mekim samting i pait tru long mi. And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
Mi bin go ausait pulap, na BIKPELA i bin bringim mi long ples gen emti. Bilong wanem nau yupela i kolim mi Neomi, taim yupela i luksave olsem BIKPELA i bin tokaut birua long mi, na Man i Gat Olgeta Strong i bin givim hevi long mi? I went out full, and the Lord hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?
Olsem na Neomi i kam bek, na meri Moap Rut, tambu pikinini meri bilong em, wantaim em, husat i kam bek ausait long kantri bilong Moap. Na ol i kam long Betlehem long stat bilong taim bilong kamautim bali. So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Beth–lehem in the beginning of barley harvest.
