1 ¶ Nau olgeta pikinini bilong Isrel i go ausait, na bung bilong ol manmeri i bung wantaim olsem wanpela man, i stat long Dan, yes, i go inap long Biar-siba, wantaim ol man bilong hap bilong Gileat, i go long BIKPELA long Mispe. Then all the children of Israel went out, and the congregation was gathered together as one man, from Dan even to Beer–sheba, with the land of Gilead, unto the Lord in Mizpeh.
2 Na nambawan hetman bilong olgeta manmeri, yes, bilong olgeta lain bilong Isrel, i bringim ol yet long bung bilong ol manmeri bilong God, 400,000 man bilong pait long lek husat i kamautim bainat. And the chief of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen that drew sword.
3 (Nau ol pikinini bilong Benjamin i harim long ol pikinini bilong Isrel i go antap long Mispe pinis.) Nau ol pikinini bilong Isrel i tok, Tokim mipela, dispela samting nogut i kamap olsem wanem? (Now the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel were gone up to Mizpeh.) Then said the children of Israel, Tell us, how was this wickedness?
4 Na dispela man Livai, man bilong meri husat ol i kilim i dai, i bekim na tok, Mi kam long Gibia, dispela i bilong Benjamin, mi na namba tu lain meri bilong mi, long slip. And the Levite, the husband of the woman that was slain, answered and said, I came into Gibeah that belongeth to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to lodge.
5 Na ol man bilong Gibia i kirap bilong birua long mi, na raunim haus raun nabaut long mi long nait, na ol i gat tingting long kilim mi i dai. Na namba tu lain meri bilong mi ol i bin bagarapim, inap long em i dai pinis. And the men of Gibeah rose against me, and beset the house round about upon me by night, and thought to have slain me: and my concubine have they forced, that she is dead.
6 Na mi kisim namba tu lain meri bilong mi, na katim em long planti hap hap, na salim em i go long olgeta hap long kantri bilong samting papa i givim pikinini bilong Isrel. Long wanem, ol i bin mekim pamuk rot pasin na longlong pasin insait long Isrel. And I took my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the country of the inheritance of Israel: for they have committed lewdness and folly in Israel.
7 Lukim, yupela olgeta i stap ol pikinini bilong Isrel. Givim hia tingting bilong yupela na tok helpim. Behold, ye are all children of Israel; give here your advice and counsel.
8 Na olgeta manmeri i kirap olsem wanpela man, i spik, I no gat wanpela bilong yumi bai go long haus sel bilong em, o i no gat wanpela bilong yumi bai tanim i go long haus bilong em. And all the people arose as one man, saying, We will not any of us go to his tent, neither will we any of us turn into his house.
9 Tasol nau dispela bai stap samting yumi bai mekim long Gibia, yumibai go antap, long satu, long birua long en. But now this shall be the thing which we will do to Gibeah; we will go up by lot against it;
10 Na yumi bai kisim tenpela man bilong 100 ausait long olgeta ol lain bilong Isrel, na 100 bilong 1,000, na 1,000 bilong 10,000, long kisim kaikai bilong ol manmeri, inap long ol i ken mekim, taim ol i kam long Gibia bilong Benjamin, bilong bihainim olgeta dispela longlong pasin long ol i bin wokim insait long Isrel. And we will take ten men of an hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to fetch victual for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in Israel.

12 ¶ Na ol lain bilong Isrel i salim ol man i go nabaut long olgeta lain bilong Benjamin, i spik, Em i wanem kain pasin nogut, dispela ol i mekim namel long yupela? And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that is done among you?
13 Olsem na nau givim long mipela ol dispela man, ol pikinini bilong Belial, husat i stap long Gibia, inap long mipela i ken mekim ol i dai, na rausim i go pasin nogut long Isrel. Tasol ol pikinini bilong Benjamin i no laik harim long nek bilong ol brata bilong ol, ol pikinini bilong Isrel. Now therefore deliver us the men, the children of Belial, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel:
14 Tasol ol pikinini bilong Benjamin i bungim ol yet wantaim ausait long ol biktaun bilong Gibia, long go ausait long pait birua long ol pikinini bilong Isrel. But the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities unto Gibeah, to go out to battle against the children of Israel.
15 Na ol i kaunim ol pikinini bilong Benjamin long dispela taim ausait long ol biktaun 26,000 man husat i kamautim bainat, dispela i no kaunim ol husat i stap long Gibia, dispela namba em i 700 man ol i makim. And the children of Benjamin were numbered at that time out of the cities twenty and six thousand men that drew sword, beside the inhabitants of Gibeah, which were numbered seven hundred chosen men.
16 Namel long olgeta dispela manmeri i gat 700 han kais man ol i makim. Olgeta wan wan em i inap long sutim ol ston klostu olsem brait bilong hap gras, na ol i no save abrusim mak. Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men lefthanded; every one could sling stones at an hair breadth, and not miss.
17 Na ol man bilong Isrel, i no kaunim Benjamin, i gat namba olsem 400,000 man husat i kamautim bainat. Olgeta dispela man i ol man bilong bikpela pait. And the men of Israel, beside Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew sword: all these were men of war.
18 ¶ Na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i kirap, na go long haus bilong God, na askim tok helpim long God, na tok, Husat bilong mipela bai go antap pastaim long pait birua long ol pikinini bilong Benjamin? Na BIKPELA i tok, Juda bai go antap pastaim. And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the Lord said, Judah shall go up first.
19 Na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i kirap long moning, na wokim kem i birua long Gibia. And the children of Israel rose up in the morning, and encamped against Gibeah.
20 Na ol man bilong Isrel i go ausait long pait birua long Benjamin. Na ol man bilong Isrel i putim ol yet long lain long pait birua long ol long Gibia. And the men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin; and the men of Israel put themselves in array to fight against them at Gibeah.
21 Na ol pikinini bilong Benjamin i kam ausait long Gibia, na bagarapim olgeta i go daun long graun, bilong ol Isrel long dispela de, 22,000 man. And the children of Benjamin came forth out of Gibeah, and destroyed down to the ground of the Israelites that day twenty and two thousand men.
22 Na ol manmeri bilong Isrel i strongim bel bilong ol yet, na putim pait bilong ol gen long lain long ples we ol i putim ol yet long lain long namba wan de. And the people the men of Israel encouraged themselves, and set their battle again in array in the place where they put themselves in array the first day.
23 (Na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i go antap na krai tru long ai bilong BIKPELA inap long apinun tru, na askim tok helpim long BIKPELA, i spik, Bai mi go antap gen long pait birua long ol pikinini bilong Benjamin, brata bilong mi? Na BIKPELA i tok, Go antap bilong birua long em.) (And the children of Israel went up and wept before the Lord until even, and asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up again to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother? And the Lord said, Go up against him.)
24 Na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i kam klostu na birua long ol pikinini bilong Benjamin long namba tu de. And the children of Israel came near against the children of Benjamin the second day.
25 Na Benjamin i go ausait na birua long ol ausait long Gibia long namba tu de, na bagarapim olgeta i go daun long graun, bilong ol pikinini bilong Isrel gen, 18,000 man. Olgeta dispela i kamautim bainat. And Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second day, and destroyed down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men; all these drew the sword.
26 ¶ Nau olgeta pikinini bilong Isrel, na olgeta manmeri, i go antap, na kam long haus bilong God, na krai tru, na sindaun long ai bilong BIKPELA, na tambuim kaikai long dispela de inap long apinun tru, na ofaim ol ofa i kuk olgeta na ol ofa bilong givim bel isi long ai bilong BIKPELA. Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto the house of God, and wept, and sat there before the Lord, and fasted that day until even, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.
27 Na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i askim long BIKPELA, (long wanem, bokis bilong kontrak bilong God i stap long dispela hap long ol dispela de, And the children of Israel enquired of the Lord, (for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,
28 Na Finias, pikinini man bilong Eliesar, pikinini man bilong Aron, i sanap long ai bilong em long ol dispela de,) i spik, Bai mi go yet gen ausait long pait birua long ol pikinini bilong Benjamin, brata bilong mi, o bai mi lusim? And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days,) saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And the Lord said, Go up; for to morrow I will deliver them into thine hand.
29 Na Isrel i putim ol man bilong wet hait raun nabaut long Gibia. And Israel set liers in wait round about Gibeah.
30 Na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i go antap bilong birua long ol pikinini bilong Benjamin long namba tri de, na putim ol yet long lain bilong birua long Gibia, olsem long ol arapela taim. And the children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and put themselves in array against Gibeah, as at other times.
31 Na ol pikinini bilong Benjamin i go ausait bilong birua long ol manmeri, na ol i pulim ol i go lusim dispela biktaun. Na ol i stat long paitim ol manmeri, na kilim, olsem long ol arapela taim, long ol bikrot, long dispela wanpela i go antap long haus bilong God, na arapela long Gibia long ples kunai, klostu olsem 30 man bilong Isrel. And the children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city; and they began to smite of the people, and kill, as at other times, in the highways, of which one goeth up to the house of God, and the other to Gibeah in the field, about thirty men of Israel.
32 Na ol pikinini bilong Benjamin i tok, Yumi paitim ol i go daun long ai bilong yumi, olsem long pastaim. Tasol ol pikinini bilong Isrel i tok, Yumi ranawe, na pulim ol i lusim biktaun i go long ol bikrot. And the children of Benjamin said, They are smitten down before us, as at the first. But the children of Israel said, Let us flee, and draw them from the city unto the highways.
33 Na olgeta man bilong Isrel i kirap ausait long ol ples bilong ol, na putim ol yet long lain long Beal-temar Na ol man bilong wet hait bilong Isrel i kam antap ausait long ol ples bilong ol, yes, ausait long ol ples gras bilong Gibia. And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Baal–tamar: and the liers in wait of Israel came forth out of their places, even out of the meadows of Gibeah.
34 Na i gat i kam birua long Gibia 10,000 man ol i makim ausait long olgeta Isrel, na dispela pait i nogut moa. Tasol ol i no save long samting nogut i stap klostu long ol. And there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was sore: but they knew not that evil was near them.
35 Na BIKPELA i paitim Benjamin long ai bilong ol Isrel. Na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i bagarapim olgeta bilong ol lain Benjamin long dispela de 25,100 man. Olgeta dispela i save kamautim bainat. And the Lord smote Benjamin before Israel: and the children of Israel destroyed of the Benjamites that day twenty and five thousand and an hundred men: all these drew the sword.
36 Olsem na ol pikinini bilong Benjamin i luksave long ol i paitim ol. Long wanem, ol man bilong Isrel i givim spes long ol lain Benjamin, bilong wanem, ol i putim bilip long ol man i wet hait, husat ol i bin putim klostu long Gibia. So the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten: for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites, because they trusted unto the liers in wait which they had set beside Gibeah.
37 Na ol man bilong wet hait i hariap, na ran hariap antap long Gibia. Na ol man bilong wet hait i pulim ol yet i go, na paitim olgeta dispela biktaun wantaim sap bilong bainat. And the liers in wait hasted, and rushed upon Gibeah; and the liers in wait drew themselves along, and smote all the city with the edge of the sword.
38 Nau i gat wanpela mak ol i makim namel long ol man bilong Isrel na ol man bilong wet hait, long ol bai wokim wanpela bikpela lait bilong paia wantaim smuk i kirap i kam ausait long biktaun. Now there was an appointed sign between the men of Israel and the liers in wait, that they should make a great flame with smoke rise up out of the city.
39 Na taim ol man bilong Isrel i surik bek long pait, Benjamin i stat long paitim na kilim bilong ol man bilong Isrel klostu olsem 30 man. Long wanem, ol i tok, Tru tumas, yumi paitim ol i go daun long ai bilong yumi, olsem long namba wan pait. And when the men of Israel retired in the battle, Benjamin began to smite and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons: for they said, Surely they are smitten down before us, as in the first battle.
40 Tasol taim lait bilong paia i stat long kirap ausait long biktaun wantaim wanpela bikpela pos smuk, ol lain Benjamin i lukluk i go baksait long ol, na, lukim, lait bilong paia bilong biktaun i go antap long heven. But when the flame began to arise up out of the city with a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them, and, behold, the flame of the city ascended up to heaven.
41 Na taim ol man bilong Isrel i tanim gen, ol man bilong Benjamin i kirap nogut tru. Long wanem, ol i luksave olsem samting nogut i kam antap long ol. And when the men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed: for they saw that evil was come upon them.
42 Olsem na ol i tanim ol baksait bilong ol long ai bilong ol man bilong Isrel i go long rot bilong ples i no gat man. Tasol pait i kamap long ol. Na ol husat i kam ausait long ol biktaun i bagarapim ol olgeta long namel bilong ol. Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them.
43 Olsem na ol i raunim ol lain Benjamin raun nabaut, na ranim ol, na krungutim ol i go daun isi tru i go pas klostu long Gibia i go long hap san i kamap. Thus they inclosed the Benjamites round about, and chased them, and trode them down with ease over against Gibeah toward the sunrising.
44 Na i gat bilong Benjamin husat i pundaun pinis 18,000 man. Olgeta dispela em i ol strongpela man bilong pait. And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men; all these were men of valour.
45 Na ol i tanim na ranawe i go long ples i no gat man i go long ston bilong Rimon. Na ol i mumutim ol las hap bilong ol long ol bikrot, 5,000 man. Na ol i ran bihainim ol strong i go long Gidom, na kilim i dai 2,000 man bilong ol. And they turned and fled toward the wilderness unto the rock of Rimmon: and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men; and pursued hard after them unto Gidom, and slew two thousand men of them.
46 Inap long olgeta husat i pundaun long dispela de bilong Benjamin em 25,000 man husat i kamautim bainat. Olgeta bilong ol ol i ol strongpela man bilong pait. So that all which fell that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men of valour.
47 Tasol 600 man i tanim na ranawe i go long ples i no gat man i go long ston Rimon, na stap long ston Rimon fopela mun. But six hundred men turned and fled to the wilderness unto the rock Rimmon, and abode in the rock Rimmon four months.
48 Na ol man bilong Isrel i tanim gen i go long ol pikinini bilong Benjamin, na paitim ol wantaim sap bilong bainat, wankain olsem ol man bilong olgeta wan wan biktaun, olsem ol animal, na olgeta husat i kam long han bilong ol. Na tu ol i kirapim paia long olgeta biktaun ol i kam long ol. And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they came to.
