Long wanem, i kam inap long dispela de olgeta samting papa i givim pikinini bilong ol i no bin pundaun long ol namel long ol lain bilong Isrel. | In those days there was no king in Israel: and in those days the tribe of the Danites sought them an inheritance to dwell in; for unto that day all their inheritance had not fallen unto them among the tribes of Israel. |

Na ol i tokim ol, Go, painimaut tru long dispela hap. Husat, taim ol i kam long maunten Ifraim, long haus bilong Maika, ol i slip long dispela hap. | And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there. |

Na yu gat wanem samting long hia? | When they were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee hither? and what makest thou in this place? and what hast thou here? |

| 5 | Na ol i tokim em, Askim tok helpim, mipela askim yu plis, long God, inap long mipela i ken save sapos rot bilong mipela, dispela mipela i bihainim, bai kamap gutpela o nogat. | And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous. |
| 6 | Na pris i tokim ol, Go wantaim bel isi. Rot we yupela i go long en i stap long ai bilong BIKPELA. | And the priest said unto them, Go in peace: before the Lord is your way wherein ye go. |
| 7 | ¶ Nau faipela man i go, na i kam long Lais, na lukim ol manmeri husat i stap long en, long ol i no gat wari olsem wanem, i bihainim ol pasin bilong ol lain Saidon, isi isi na i stap gut tru. Na i no gat kiap long dispela hap, husat i ken mekim ol i sem long wanpela samting. Na ol i stap longwe long ol lain Saidon, na ol i no gat wok wantaim wanpela man. | Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man. |

No ken les long go, na long go insait long holimpas dispela hap. | And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land. |

Em i wanpela ples we i no sot tru long wanpela samting i stap long dispela graun. | When ye go, ye shall come unto a people secure, and to a large land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of any thing that is in the earth. |
| 11 | Na bilong famili bilong lain Dan i gat ol man i lusim dispela ples, ausait long Sora na ausait long Esteol, 600 man ol i makim wantaim ol samting bilong pait bilong bikpela pait. | And there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men appointed with weapons of war. |
| 12 | Na ol i go antap, na sanapim haus sel long Kiriat-jerim, long Juda. Olsem na ol i kolim nem bilong dispela ples Mahanedan i kam inap long tude. Lukim, em i stap baksait long Kiriat-jerim. | And they went up, and pitched in Kirjath–jearim, in Judah: wherefore they called that place Mahaneh–dan unto this day: behold, it is behind Kirjath–jearim. |
| 13 | Na ol i lusim dispela ples i go long maunten Ifraim, na kamap long haus bilong Maika. | And they passed thence unto mount Ephraim, and came unto the house of Micah. |
| 14 | ¶ Nau dispela faipela man husat i go long lukstil long hap bilong Lais i bekim, na tokim ol brata bilong ol, Ating yupela i save long i gat long ol dispela haus wanpela ifat, na wanpela terafim, na wanpela piksa god ol i sapim, na wanpela piksa god ain? Olsem na nau, tingim na skelim wanem samting yupela i mas mekim. | Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do. |
| 15 | Na ol i tanim i go long dispela hap, na i kam long haus bilong dispela yangpela man Livai, yes, i kam long haus bilong Maika, na tok gude long em. | And they turned thitherward, and came to the house of the young man the Levite, even unto the house of Micah, and saluted him. |
| 16 | Na dispela 600 ol i makim wantaim ol samting bilong pait bilong bikpela pait, husat i bilong ol pikinini bilong Dan, i sanap klostu long ai bilong dua bilong banis. | And the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war, which were of the children of Dan, stood by the entering of the gate. |

Na pris i sanap insait long ai bilong dua bilong banis wantaim 600 man husat ol i makim wantaim ol samting bilong pait bilong bikpela pait. | And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war. |
| 18 | Na ol dispela i go insait long haus bilong Maika, na kisim piksa god ol i sapim, na ifat, na terafim, na piksa god ain. Nau pris i tokim ol, Yupela mekim wanem? | And these went into Micah’s house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye? |

Em i gutpela moa long yu long yu stap wanpela pris long haus bilong wanpela man, o long yu stap wanpela pris long wanpela lain na wanpela famili insait long Isrel? | And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel? |
| 20 | Na bel bilong pris i amamas, na em i kisim ifat, na terafim, na piksa god ol i sapim, na go namel long ol manmeri. | And the priest’s heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people. |
| 21 | Olsem na ol i tanim na lusim hap, na putim ol liklik pikinini na ol bulmakau samting na samting ol i karim i go paslain long ol. | So they turned and departed, and put the little ones and the cattle and the carriage before them. |
| 22 | Na taim ol i stap longwe liklik long haus bilong Maika, ol man husat i stap long ol haus klostu long haus bilong Maika i bung wantaim, na kamap long ol pikinini bilong Dan. | And when they were a good way from the house of Micah, the men that were in the houses near to Micah’s house were gathered together, and overtook the children of Dan. |
| 23 | Na ol i krai long ol pikinini bilong Dan. Na ol i tanim ol pes bilong ol, na tokim Maika, Wanem samting i givim hevi long yu, inap long yu kam wantaim kain lain olsem? | And they cried unto the children of Dan. And they turned their faces, and said unto Micah, What aileth thee, that thou comest with such a company? |
| 24 | Na em i tok, Yupela i bin tekewe ol god bilong mi, dispela mi wokim, na pris, na yupela i go pinis. Na mi gat wanem samting moa? Na dispela em i wanem long yupela i tokim mi, Wanem samting i givim hevi long yu? | And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what is this that ye say unto me, What aileth thee? |
| 25 | Na ol pikinini bilong Dan i tokim em, No ken larim mipela harim nek bilong yu namel long mipela, nogut ol belhat man i ran antap long yu, na yu lusim laip bilong yu, wantaim ol laip bilong hauslain bilong yu. | And the children of Dan said unto him, Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows run upon thee, and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household. |
| 26 | Na ol pikinini bilong Dan i go long rot bilong ol. Na taim Maika i luksave long ol i strong tumas long em, em i tanim na go bek long haus bilong em. | And the children of Dan went their way: and when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back unto his house. |
| 27 | ¶ Na ol i kisim ol dispela samting Maika i bin wokim, na dispela pris em i gat, na kam long Lais, i kam long wanpela lain manmeri husat i stap isi isi na i stap gut tru. Na ol i paitim ol wantaim sap bilong bainat, na kukim biktaun bilong ol olgeta wantaim paia. | And they took the things which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people that were at quiet and secure: and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire. |

Na em i stap long ples daun, dispela i slip klostu long Bet-rehop. Na ol i wokim wanpela biktaun, na stap insait long en. | And there was no deliverer, because it was far from Zidon, and they had no business with any man; and it was in the valley that lieth by Beth–rehob. And they built a city, and dwelt therein. |
| 29 | Na ol i kolim nem bilong dispela biktaun Dan, i bihainim nem bilong Dan, tumbuna papa bilong ol, husat mama i karim long Isrel. Tasol nem bilong dispela biktaun em i Lais long pastaim. | And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel: howbeit the name of the city was Laish at the first. |
| 30 | Na ol pikinini bilong Dan i sanapim piksa god ol i sapim. Na Jonatan, pikinini man bilong Gersom, pikinini man bilong Manasa, em na ol pikinini man bilong em i stap ol pris long lain Dan inap long de bilong kalabus bilong dispela hap. | And the children of Dan set up the graven image: and Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land. |
| 31 | Na ol i sanapim piksa god ol i sapim bilong Maika, dispela em i wokim, olgeta taim long haus bilong God i stap long Sailo. | And they set them up Micah’s graven image, which he made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh. |
