¶ Na taim ol i abrusim bagarap pinis, nau ol i save long ol i kolim dispela ailan Melita. | And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.
Na gutpela pasin dispela wail man lain i soim long mipela i no liklik. Long wanem, ol i kirapim wanpela paia, na kisim olgeta wan wan bilong mipela, bilong tingim dispela ren i stap nau, na bilong tingim dispela kol. | And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.
Na taim Pol i bin bungim wanpela mekpas bilong ol stik, na slipim ol antap long paia, i gat wanpela vaipa i kam ausait long hat, na pas strong long han bilong em. | And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
Na taim ol wail man i lukim dispela animal i gat marasin nogut i hangamap long han bilong em, ol i tok namel long ol yet, I mas tru olgeta long dispela man i man bilong kilim man, husat, maski em i bin ranawe long biksi, yet pasin bilong bekim pe nogut i no inap larim em stap laip. | And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
Na em i seksekim dispela animal i go long paia, na em i no pilim bagarap. | And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.
Tasol ol i lukluk taim em i mas solap, o pundaun i dai wantu. Tasol bihain long ol i bin lukluk longpela taim, na ol i no lukim wanpela bagarap i kam long em, ol i senisim ol tingting bilong ol, na tok long em i wanpela god. | Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
Long dispela hap stret i gat ol holimpas bilong nambawan man bilong dispela ailan, husat nem bilong em em Publias, husat i kisim mipela, na lukautim mipela tripela de wantaim gutpela pasin. | In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.
Na em i kamap olsem, long papa bilong Publias i slip sik long wanpela skinhat na pekpek wara wantaim blut. Long husat Pol i go insait, na beten, na slipim tupela han bilong em antap long em, na oraitim em. | And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
Olsem na taim dispela i kamap pinis, ol arapela tu, husat i gat ol sik nogut long dispela ailan, i kam, na kamap orait gen. | So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:
Husat tu i bin givim ona long mipela wantaim planti ona. Na taim mipela i go, ol i pulapim mipela wantaim ol kain samting mipela i gat nid long en. | Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.
¶ Na bihain long tripela mun mipela i go long wanpela sip bilong Aleksandria, husat i bin stap long dispela ailan long taim bilong bikpela kol, husat mak bilong em em Kastor na Poluks. | And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.
Na taim mipela i kamap pinis long Sirakyus, mipela i stap yet long dispela hap tripela de. | And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.
Na mipela i lusim dispela ples na raunim hap, na kam long Rejiam. Na bihain long wanpela de win i kam long hap saut i ran, na mipela kamap long de bihain long Putiolai, | And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:
We mipela i lukim ol brata, na ol i askim mipela long stap yet wantaim ol sevenpela de. Na olsem tasol mipela i wok long go long Rom. | Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.
Na long dispela ples, taim ol brata i harim stori long mipela, ol i kam long bungim mipela long longwe ples olsem maket Api, na Tripela haus pasindia. Husat taim Pol i lukim ol, em i tok tenkyu long God, na kisim strong bilong pait. | And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.
Na taim mipela i kam long Rom, dispela kepten bilong 100 soldia i givim ol kalabus long kepten bilong ol wasman. Tasol ol i larim Pol stap long em yet wantaim wanpela soldia husat i lukautim em. | And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.
¶ Na em i kamap olsem, long bihain long tripela de Pol i singautim ol nambawan man bilong ol Ju long bung wantaim. Na taim ol i kam bung wantaim, em i tokim ol, Ol man na ol brata, maski mi no bin mekim wanpela samting i birua long ol manmeri, o ol kastam bilong ol tumbuna papa bilong yumi, yet ol i givim mi olsem kalabusman long Jerusalem i go long ol han bilong ol man Rom. | And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
Husat, taim ol i bin skelim mi gut, i gat laik long lusim mi i go, bikos i no gat as bilong dai insait long mi. | Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.
Tasol taim ol Ju i tok birua long en, dispela i pulim mi strong long putim samting long han bilong Sisa bilong jasim. I no long mi gat wanpela samting bilong sutim tok long kantri bilong mi long en. | But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Cesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.
Olsem na long dispela as mi bin singautim yupela, long lukim yupela, na long toktok wantaim yupela. Bikos long hop bilong Isrel ol i pasim mi wantaim dispela sen. | For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
Na ol i tokim em, Mipela i no bin kisim ol pas i kam ausait long Judia long sait bilong yu, na tu i no gat wanpela bilong ol brata husat i kam soim mipela o toktok bilong bagarapim nem bilong yu liklik. | And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.
Tasol mipela i gat laik long harim long yu long yu ting wanem. Long wanem, long sait bilong dispela lotu lain, mipela save long olgeta wan wan hap ol man i toktok birua long en. | But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.
¶ Na taim ol i bin makim em wanpela de, i gat planti i kam long em long haus we em i stap. Long husat em i kolim gut na tokaut klia long kingdom bilong God, taim em i pulim tingting bilong ol long sait bilong Jisas, i kam ausait long lo bilong Moses, na ausait long ol profet wantaim, i stat long moning i go inap long apinun tru. | And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
Na sampela i bilipim ol dispela samting em i toktok long en, na sampela i no bilipim. | And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.
Na taim ol i no gat wanbel tingting namel long ol yet, ol i go, bihain long Pol i bin toktok long wanpela tok, Holi Spirit i bin toktok gut long maus bilong profet Eseas i go long ol tumbuna papa bilong yumi, | And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
I spik, Go long ol dispela lain manmeri, na tok, Taim yupela i harim yupela bai harim, na yupela bai i no inap kisim save. Na taim yupela i lukim yupela bai lukim, na yupela i no inap kisim save. | Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
Long wanem, bel bilong ol dispela manmeri i wok long kamap strong, na ol ia bilong ol i no sap long harim, na ol ai bilong ol ol i bin pasim, nogut ol i ken lukluk wantaim ol ai bilong ol, na harim wantaim ol ia bilong ol, na kisim save wantaim bel bilong ol, na ol i ken senisim bilip, na mi ken oraitim ol. | For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Olsem na yupela i ken save, long kisim bek bilong God em i salim i go long ol man i no Ju, na long ol bai harim dispela. | Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.
Na taim em i bin toktok long ol dispela toktok, ol Ju i go, na ol i gat bikpela wok long stretim toktok namel long ol yet. | And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.
¶ Na Pol i stap tupela yia olgeta insait long haus bilong em yet em i baim, na em i kisim olgeta husat i kam long em, | And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
Na em i autim tok long kingdom bilong God, na skulim ol long ol dispela samting long sait bilong Bikpela Jisas Kraist, wantaim olgeta strongpela bilip, i no gat man i tambuim em. | Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.
