¶ Nau taim Festas i kam insait long provins, bihain long tripela de em i lusim Sisaria i go antap long Jerusalem. | Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Cesarea to Jerusalem.
Nau hetpris na ol nambawan man bilong ol Ju i toksave long em i birua long Pol, na askim em plis strong, | Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,
Na askim helpim i birua long em, inap long em bai salim tok long bringim em long Jerusalem, taim ol i wet hait long rot long kilim em. | And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.
Tasol Festas i bekim tok, long ol i mas holimpas Pol long Sisaria, na long klostu nau em em yet bai go long dispela hap. | But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Cesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.
Olsem na larim ol, em i tok, husat namel long yupela i inap, go daun wantaim mi, na sutim tok long dispela man, sapos i gat wanpela pasin nogut insait long em. | Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.
Na taim em i bin stap yet namel long ol moa long tenpela de, em i go daun long Sisaria. Na de bihain, taim em i sindaun long sia kot, em i tok strong long bringim Pol. | And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Cesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.
Na taim em i kam pinis, ol Ju husat i kam daun long Jerusalem i sanap raun nabaut, na sutim tok i planti na strongpela i birua long Pol, dispela ol i no inap long pruvim. | And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.
Nau em i bekim tok bilong helpim em yet, Mi no bin bagarapim bel bilong wanpela samting liklik, i birua long lo bilong ol Ju, o i birua long tempel, o yet i birua long Sisa. | While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Cesar, have I offended any thing at all.
Tasol Festas, taim em i gat laik long amamasim ol Ju, i bekim Pol, na tok, Ating yu bai go antap long Jerusalem, na long dispela hap mi ken jasim yu long ol dispela samting long ai bilong mi? | But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
Nau Pol i tok, Mi sanap long sia kot bilong Sisa, we ol i mas jasim mi. Long ol Ju mi no bin wokim wanpela rong, olsem yu save gut tru pinis. | Then said Paul, I stand at Cesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.
Long wanem, sapos mi stap man bilong bagarapim bel, o mi bin mekim wanpela samting i gat namba inap long dai, mi no tok nogat long dai. Tasol sapos i no gat wanpela bilong ol dispela samting we ol dispela i sutim tok long mi long en, i no gat man i ken givim mi long ol. Mi putim samting long han bilong Sisa long jasim. | For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Cesar.
Nau Festas, taim em i bin kisim tingting wantaim kaunsil, i bekim tok, Yu bin putim samting long han bilong Sisa long jasim? Long Sisa yu bai go. | Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Cesar? unto Cesar shalt thou go.
¶ Na bihain long sampela de king Agripa na Bernisi i kam long Sisaria long tok gude long Festas. | And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Cesarea to salute Festus.
Na taim ol i bin stap long dispela hap planti de, Festas i tokaut long wari bilong Pol i go long king, i spik, I gat wanpela man Filiks i lusim i stap long kalabus, | And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul’s cause unto the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:
Long sait bilong husat, taim mi stap long Jerusalem, ol bikpris na ol lapun hetman bilong ol Ju i toksave long mi, taim ol i bin askim mi long wokim kot i birua long em. | About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.
Long husat mi bekim tok, Em i no kastam bilong ol man Rom long givim wanpela man long dai, bipo long em husat ol i sutim tok long em i bin lukim ol man i sutim tok long em pes i go long pes, na em i gat tok orait long bekim bilong em yet long sait bilong ol bikpela rong ol i putim i birua long em. | To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
Olsem na, taim ol i kam hia, mipela i no wet liklik, long de bihain mi sindaun long sia kot, na tok strong long ol i bringim dispela man i kam. | Therefore, when they were come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.
Husat taim ol man i sutim tok i birua long em i sanap, ol i no bringim wanpela kain sutim tok long ol kain samting olsem mi bin ting. | Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:
Tasol ol i gat sampela askim i birua long em long bilip nating bilong ol yet, na long wanpela Jisas, husat i dai pinis, husat Pol i tok yes long em i stap laip. | But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
Na bikos mi holim tupela tingting long ol kain kain askim olsem, mi askim em long em i laik go long Jerusalem o nogat, na long dispela hap mi ken jasim em long ol dispela samting. | And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.
Tasol taim Pol i bin askim long stap bek taim em putim samting long han bilong Ogastas bilong harim na jasim, mi tok strong long ol long holimpas em inap long mi ken salim em long Sisa. | But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Cesar.
Nau Agripa i tokim Festas, Mi tu i gat laik long harim dispela man mi yet. Tumora, em i tok, yu bai harim em. | Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
Na long de bihain, taim Agripa i kam pinis, na Bernisi, wantaim bikpela traipela bilas, na ol i go insait long ples bilong harim, wantaim ol nambawan kepten, na ol nambawan man bilong dispela biktaun, long tok strong bilong Festas ol i bringim Pol i kam. | And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus’ commandment Paul was brought forth.
Na Festas i tok, King Agripa, na olgeta man husat i stap hia wantaim yumi, yupela i lukim dispela man, long sait bilong husat olgeta dispela bikpela lain tru bilong ol Ju i bin mekim tok wantaim mi, long Jerusalem, na tu long hia wantaim, taim ol i singaut long em i no ken stap laip moa liklik. | And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
Tasol taim mi luksave long em i no bin mekim wanpela samting i gat namba inap long dai, na long em em yet i bin putim samting long han bilong Ogastas long jasim, mi bin pasim tok long mi yet long salim em i go. | But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.
Bilong husat mi no gat wanpela samting long raitim long bikman bilong mi. Olsem na mi bin bringim em i kam long ai bilong yupela, na moa yet long ai bilong yu, O king Agripa, inap long, bihain long yu bin skelim gut, mi ken gat samting long raitim. | Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.
Long wanem, long mi i no luk olsem i gutpela tingting long salim wanpela kalabusman, na mi no mekim klia liklik ol bikpela rong ol i putim i birua long em. | For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.
