¶ Yumi bai tok nau long tumbuna papa bilong yumi Ebraham, long sait bilong bodi, i bin painimaut pinis wanem samting? | What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
Long wanem, sapos Ebraham i bin kamap stretpela long ol wok, em i gat rot bilong glori long en, tasol em i no inap long ai bilong God. | For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
Long wanem, rait bilong God i tok wanem? Ebraham i bilipim God, na God i kaunim dispela long em long stretpela pasin. | For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Nau long em husat i wokim wok God i no kaunim dispela pe bilong marimari, tasol bilong dinau. | Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
Tasol long em husat i no wokim wok, tasol em i bilip long em husat i mekim ol man nogut i kamap stretpela, bilip tru bilong em God i kaunim bilong stretpela pasin. | But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Yes, olsem Davit tu i kolim blesing bilong dispela man, long husat God i makim stretpela pasin ausait long ol wok bilong lo, | Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
I spik, Blesing i stap long ol husat God i lusim ol sin nogut bilong ol, na husat ol sin bilong ol God i karamapim. | Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Blesing i stap long man husat Bikpela bai i no inap makim sin long em. | Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
¶ Ating dispela blesing i kam nau long ol man bilong katim skin tasol, o long ol man i no katim skin tu? Long wanem, yumi tok long bilip tru God i kaunim long Ebraham bilong stretpela pasin. | Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
Nau em i kaunim olsem wanem? Taim em i katim skin, o taim em i no katim skin? I no taim em i katim skin, tasol taim em i no katim skin. | How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
Na em i kisim mak bilong katim skin, wanpela mak bilong dispela stretpela pasin bilong bilip tru em i gat taim em i no katim skin yet, inap long em i ken stap tumbuna papa bilong ol olgeta husat i bilip, maski ol i no katim skin, inap long God i ken makim stretpela pasin i go long ol tu, | And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
Na tumbuna papa bilong katim skin long ol husat i no bilong ol man bilong katim skin tasol, tasol husat tu i wokabaut long ol step bilong bilip tru bilong tumbuna papa bilong yumi Ebraham, dispela em i gat taim em i no katim skin yet. | And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.
Long wanem, dispela promis, long em i ken stap pikinini i kisim dispela graun long papa, i no go long Ebraham, o long tumbuna pikinini bilong em, long wok bilong lo, tasol long wok bilong stretpela pasin bilong bilip tru. | For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
Long wanem, sapos ol husat i bilong lo i stap ol pikinini i kisim samting long papa, orait dispela i mekim bilip tru i stap nating olgeta, na em i mekim promis God i wokim olsem i no gat pawa. | For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
Bilong wanem, lo i wokim belhat tru. Long wanem, we i no gat lo, i no gat pasin bilong kalapim lo. | Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
Olsem na em i bilong bilip tru, inap long em i ken stap long marimari, long dispela as, promis i ken stap tru olgeta long olgeta tumbuna pikinini. I no long ol tasol husat i bilong lo, tasol long ol tu husat i bilong bilip tru bilong Ebraham, husat i tumbuna papa bilong yumi olgeta, | Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
¶ (Olsem rait i stap pinis, Mi bin mekim yu wanpela tumbuna papa long planti kantri,) long ai bilong em husat em i bilip,yes God, husat i givim laip gen long daiman, na kolim ol dispela samting i no stap olsem ol i stap. | (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
Husat taim i no gat hop em i bilip long hop, inap long em i ken kamap tumbuna papa bilong planti kantri, bilong bihainim dispela samting God i toktok, Olsem tasol tumbuna pikinini bilong yu bai stap. | Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
Na taim em i no man i no gat strong long bilip tru, em i no tingim na skelim bodi bilong em yet i stap daibodi nau, taim em i klostu olsem 100 krismas, na tu yet long bel bilong Sara i dai pinis. | And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb:
Em i no gat tupela tingting long promis bilong God long wok bilong pasin bilong i no gat bilip. Tasol em i strong long bilip tru, na givim glori long God. | He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
Na taim em i gat tingting i strong olgeta long, wanem samting em i bin promis, em i inap tu long mekim. | And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Na olsem na God i makim dispela long em bilong stretpela pasin. | And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
¶ Nau ol i no raitim dispela bilong tingim em wanpela tasol, long God i makim dispela long em, | Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
Tasol bilong tingim yumi tu, long husat God bai makim dispela, sapos yumi bilip long em husat i kirapim Jisas, Bikpela bilong yumi, long dai. | But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
Husat God i givim bilong baim ol pasin bilong bagarapim bel bilong yumi, na kirapim gen bilong mekim yumi kamap stretpela. | Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
