|---|---|---|
¶ Dispela em i wanpela tok i tru, Sapos wanpela man i gat laik long opis bilong bisop, em i laikim wanpela gutpela wok. | This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
Nau bisop i mas stap man i no gat asua, man bilong wanpela meri, man bilong was gut, man bilong yusim tingting gut, man bilong gutpela wokabaut, man bilong laikim wok bilong lukautim man i kam long haus bilong em, fit long skulim ol arapela, | A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
I no man bilong laikim wain, i no man bilong pait, i no man i gridi long ol mani samting i doti tru. Tasol em i mas man bilong sanap strong long traim, i no man bilong pait, i no man bilong mangalim ol samting. | Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
Em i mas wanpela husat i bosim hauslain bilong em yet gutpela, taim ol pikinini bilong em i stap aninit wantaim olgeta pasin bilong wokabaut stret. | One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
(Long wanem, sapos man i no save long rot bilong bosim hauslain bilong em yet, em bai lukautim sios bilong God olsem wanem?) | (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
Em i no ken stap nupela man, nogut taim em i litimapim em yet wantaim hambak pasin em i pundaun insait long pe nogut bilong kot bilong Seten. | Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
Na moa tu em i mas gat gutpela ripot long ol husat i stap ausait. Nogut em i pundaun long samting bilong givim sem na trap bilong Seten. | Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
¶ Wankain olsem ol dikon i mas stap ol man bilong wokabaut stret, i no ol man bilong tupela tang, i no ol man bilong laikim planti wain, i no ol man i gridi long mani samting i doti tru. | Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
Ol i mas holimpas samting hait bilong bilip tru wantaim mausbel i klin. | Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
Na larim sios i pruvim ol dispela tu pastaim. Nau larim ol yusim opis bilong dikon, taim ol man i luksave olsem ol i no gat asua. | And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
Yes, olsem tasol ol meri bilong ol i mas wokabaut stret, i no ol meri bilong toktok bilong giamanim nem, ol meri bilong yusim tingting gut, ol meri yu inap bilip long ol long olgeta samting. | Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
Larim ol dikon i stap ol man bilong wanpela meri, taim ol i bosim ol pikinini bilong ol na ol haus bilong ol yet gutpela. | Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
Long wanem, ol husat i bin yusim opis bilong dikon gutpela i baim long ol yet wanpela gutpela namba, na bikpela pasin bilong i no pret long dispela bilip tru i stap insait long Kraist Jisas. | For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
¶ Ol dispela samting mi rait i go long yu, taim mi gat hop long kam long yu klostu nau. | These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
Tasol sapos mi stap yet longpela taim, long yu ken save long yu yet mas wokabaut olsem wanem insait long haus bilong God, dispela em i sios bilong God i stap laip, bikpela pos na graun bilong tok tru. | But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
Na i no gat pait long dispela toktok, samting hait bilong bihainim pasin bilong God em i bikpela. God i kamap ples klia long bodi, em i kamap stretpela long Spirit, ol ensel i lukim em, ol man i autim tok long em long ol man i no Ju, ol man i bilip long em long dispela graun, God i kisim em i go antap insait long ples i gat glori. | And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
