¶ King Belsasar i mekim wanpela bikpela kaikai i go long wan tausen bikman bilong em, na em i dring wain long pes bilong dispela tausen. | Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.
Na taim Belsasar i traim dispela wain, em i mekim strongpela tok long bringim ol gol na silva kap papa bilong em Nebukatnesar i bin kisim na ol i kamaut long tempel i stap long Jerusalem. Em i mekim olsem long king, na ol hetman bilong em, na ol meri bilong em, na ol namba tu meri bilong em, ol i ken dring long ol. | Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.
Long dispela taim ol i bringim ol kap gol, bipo Nebukatnesar i bin bringim ol i kamaut long dispela tempel bilong God i stap long Jerusalem. Na king, na ol hetman bilong em, na ol meri bilong em, na ol namba tu meri bilong em, ol i dring long ol. | Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.
Ol i dringim wain, na ol i givim biknem long ol god bilong gol, na bilong silva, na bilong bras, na bilong ain, na bilong diwai, na bilong ston. | They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
Long dispela wanpela aua stret ol pinga bilong han bilong wanpela man i bin kam, na em i rait long pes bilong lek bilong kandel antap long dispela simen bilong banis long dispela nambawan bikhaus bilong king. Na king i lukim hap bilong han i wok long rait. | In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
Long dispela taim pes bilong king i senis, na ol tingting bilong em i pretim em, olsem na ol skru bilong baksait bilong em i lus, na ol skru bilong lek bilong em i paitim wanpela long narapela. | Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.
King i singaut long bringim ol posin man bilong bihainim ol sta, na ol lain Kaldia, na ol glasman i kam insait. Na king i spik, na tok long ol saveman bilong Babilon, Wanem man i ritim dispela rait i stap, na em i soim mi as tingting bilong em, bai em i kisim naispela skalet klos, na bai em i kisim wanpela sen gol i raunim nek bilong em, na bai em i stap namba tri hetman insait long kingdom. | The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
Long dispela taim olgeta saveman bilong king i kam, tasol ol i no inap long ritim dispela rait i stap, na tu ol i no inap givim as tingting long king long dispela tok. | Then came in all the king’s wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.
Long dispela taim king Belsasar i pret nogut tru, na pes bilong em i senis long em, na ol bikman bilong em i kirap nogut. | Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied.
¶ Ol tok bilong king, na ol bikman bilong em, dispela em i as bilong kwin i kam nau insait long haus bilong bikpela kaikai. Na kwin i spik na i tok, O king, yu mas stap laip oltaim oltaim. Yu no ken larim ol tingting bilong yu i pretim yu, na tu no ken larim pes bilong yu i senis. | Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:
I gat wanpela man insait long kingdom bilong yu, na insait long em i stap spirit bilong ol god i holi. Na long ol de papa bilong yu i bin stap, lait na gutpela save na save tru i olsem save tru bilong ol god, i bin stap insait long em. Em man king Nebukatnesar, papa bilong yu, mi tok long king na papa bilong yu, em i mekim em i stap bosman bilong ol man bilong wokim posin, na ol posin man bilong bihainim ol sta, na ol lain Kaldia na ol glasman. | There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;
Tru tumas dispela Danyel em i gat wanpela nambawan spirit, na save na gutpela save long pasin bilong soim ol as tingting bilong ol driman na pasin bilong soim klia ol tingting i hait, na pasin bilong pinisim tupela tingting, ol dispela i bin stap insait long dispela man, king i bin givim nem Beltesasar long em. Nau tasol larim ol i singautim Danyel, na em bai soim dispela as tingting. | Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.
Long dispela taim ol i bringim Danyel long pes bilong king. Na king i spik na tok long Danyel, Yu yet i dispela Danyel, man i bilong ol pikinini bilong kalabus lain bilong Juda, na man king i papa bilong mi i bin bringim i kam ausait long graun bilong ol Ju? | Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?
Yes mi bin harim stori long yu olsem, long spirit bilong ol god i stap insait long yu, na tu lait na gutpela save na nambawan save tru i stap insait long yu. | I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.
Na long dispela taim ol saveman, na ol poisin man bilong bihainim ol sta i bin kam pinis long pes bilong mi, inap long ol i ken ritim dispela rait i stap, na kliaim mi long as tingting bilong em. Tasol ol i no inap long soim as tingting bilong dispela samting. | And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:
Na mi bin harim stori long yu, olsem long yu inap long mekim klia ol as tingting, na pinisim tupela tingting. Nau sapos yu inap long ritim dispela rait, na kliam mi long as tingting bilong em, yu bai kisim naispela skalet klos, na bai yu gat wanpela sen gol i raunim nek bilong yu, na yu bai stap namba tri hetman long kingdom. | And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
Long dispela taim, Danyel i bekim na tok long pes bilong king, Larim ol presen bilong yu i stap long yu yet, na givim ol pe bilong yu i go long narapela. Tasol bai mi ritim dispela rait i go long king, na bai mi kliaim em long as tingting bilong em. | Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
O yu king, dispela God i antap olgeta i bin givim wanpela kingdom, na biknem bilong king, na glori, na ona i go long Nebukatnesar, papa bilong yu. | O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:
Na long biknem bilong king, God i bin givim em, olgeta manmeri na ol kantri, na ol tok ples, i bin guria na pret long pes bilong em. Long laik bilong em, em inap kilim ol i dai pinis, na long laik bilong em, em inap larim ol i stap laip. Na long laik bilong em, em inap givim biknem long ol, na long laik bilong em, em inap daunim ol. | And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.
Tasol taim bel bilong em i litimapim em yet i go antap, na tingting bilong em i strong long hambak pasin bilong givim biknem long em yet, long dispela taim ol i rausim em long sia king bilong em, na ol i kisim ol glori bilong em long lusim em. | But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:
Na ol i ranim em i go longwe long ol pikinini man bilong man, na bel bilong em i kamap kain olsem ol animal, na ples bilong em i bin stap wantaim ol wel donki. Ol i givim kaikai long em long gras kain olsem ol bulmakau man i kaikai, na bodi bilong em i wet wantaim tuhat bilong heven, i go inap long em i save pinis dispela God i antap olgeta, Em i stap bosman insait long kingdom bilong ol man, na tu long Em i save putim i stap bosman antap long dispela wanem man Em i laik. | And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.
Na yu pikinini man bilong em, O Belsasar, yu no bin daunim bel bilong yu taim yu save pinis long dispela olgeta samting. | And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;
Tasol yu bin litimapim yu yet na birua long dispela Bikpela bilong heven, na ol i bin bringim ol kap bilong haus bilong Em i go long pes bilong yu, na yu, na ol bikman bilong yu, na ol meri bilong yu, na ol namba tu meri bilong yu, i bin dring wain long ol, na yu bin givim biknem long ol god bilong silva, na gol, na bilong bras, na ain, na diwai, na ston, ol i no lukluk, na i no harim, na i no save. Na dispela God, win bilong yu i stap insait long han bilong Em, na olgeta rot bilong yu i bilong Em, long Em yu no bin givim biknem. | But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:
Long dispela taim dispela hap bilong han i bin lusim Em i kam, na dispela rait i bin kamap. | Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.
Na dispela em i rait i bin kamap, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UFARSIN. | And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
Na dispela em i as tingting bilong dispela samting. MENE, God i bin kaunim kingdom bilong yu, na pinisim dispela. | This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.
TEKEL, Yu bin kisim mak long tupela skel bilong hevi, na yu kamap sot. | TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
PERES, kingdom bilong yu i bruk, na Mi givim dispela i go long ol lain Mida na lain Persia. | PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
Long dispela taim Belsasar i mekim strongpela tok, na ol i putim skalet klos long Danyel, na putim wanpela sen gol long nek bilong em, na king i mekim wanpela toksave i tok long Danyel, long em i mas i stap namba tri hetman insait long kingdom. | Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
¶ Insait long dispela nait ol i bin kilim i dai pinis Belsasar, king bilong lain Kaldia. | In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.
Na Darias man bilong lain Mida i kisim kingdom taim ol krismas bilong em i 62-pela. | And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.
