¶ King Nebukatnesar, i tok long olgeta manmeri, na ol kantri, na ol tok ples, em ol husat i sindaun i stap insait long olgeta hap bilong dispela graun, Bel isi i kam long yupela planti taims moa. | Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
Mi ting em i gutpela long mi soim ol mak na ol samting i winim tingting dispela God i antap i bin mekim long mi. | I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.
Tru tumas ol mak bilong Em i bikpela moa! Na tru tumas ol samting bilong Em i winim tingting emstrongpela moa! Kingdom bilong Em, em i wanpela kingdom i stap oltaim oltaim, na pasin bilong Em i stap bosman i stap long taim bilong ol papa na i go long taim bilong ol pikinini. | How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
¶ Mi Nebukatnesar i bin malolo long haus bilong mi, na mi stap gutpela insait long nambawan bikhaus bilong king na em i bilong mi. | I Nebuchadnezzar was at rest in mine house, and flourishing in my palace:
Mi lukim wanpela driman na dispela i pretim mi, na ol tingting mi tingim long bet bilong mi na ol samting olsem driman bilong het bilong mi i bin pretim mi. | I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.
Olsem na mi wokim wanpela lo long bringim olgeta saveman bilong Babilon i kam long pes bilong mi, long ol i ken kliaim mi long as tingting bilong dispela driman. | Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream.
Long dispela taim ol man bilong wokim posin, na ol posin man bilong bihainim ol sta, na ol lain Kaldia, na ol glasman i kam insait. Na mi bin tokim dispela driman long pes bilong ol, tasol ol i no soim mi as tingting bilong em. | Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof.
Tasol long pinis bilong ol dispela samting Danyel i kam long pes bilong mi. Nem bilong em Beltesasar, long bihainim nem bilong god bilong mi. Na insait long em i stap dispela spirit bilong ol god i holi, na long pes bilong em mi bin tokim em long dispela driman, na mi tok, | But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and before him I told the dream, saying,
O Beltesasar, bikman bilong ol man bilong wokim posin, yu mas kliaim mi long ol samting olsem driman bilong dispela driman bilong mi, mi bin lukim, na as tingting bilong em, long wanem mi save dispela spirit bilong ol god i holi i stap insait long yu, na i no gat wanpela hait samting i paulim yu. | O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.
Ol samting olsem driman bilong het bilong mi insait long bet bilong mi i bin olsem, Mi bin lukluk, na harim, wanpela diwai i stap namel long dispela graun na longpela bilong em i antap tru. | Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great.
Dispela diwai i kamap bikpela moa, na em i stap strongpela, na longpela bilong em i go kamap long heven, na las hap bilong olgeta hap bilong dispela graun i inap lukluk long em. | The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth:
Ol lip bilong em i naispela, na prut bilong em i planti, na insait long em kaikai bilong olgeta samting i stap. Ol animal bilong ples op i kisim tewel bilong san aninit long em, na ol pisin bilong heven i save stap long ol bikpela han bilong em, na olgeta samting i gat bodi ol i kaikai long em. | The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it.
Mi lukim insait long ol samting olsem driman bilong het bilong mi long bet bilong mi, na harim, wanpela wasman na wanpela i holi i kamdaun long heven. | I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven;
Na nek bilong em i krai strong tru, na i tok olsem, Katim dispela diwai, na rausim ol han bilong em, sakim ol lip bilong em i go, na rausim i go long planti hap ol prut bilong em, larim ol animal i ranawe long stap aninit long em, na ol pisin long ol han bilong em. | He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:
Tasol larim as bilong ol rop bilong em i stap yet insait long graun, yes wantaim wanpela samting i raunim em bilong ain na bras, insait long gutpela gras bilong ples op, na larim em i stap wet wantaim ol tuhat bilong heven, na larim hap skel bilong em i stap wantaim ol animal insait long gras bilong graun. | Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:
Larim bel bilong em i senis na i no stap bilong man, na larim wanpela bel bilong animal i go long em. Na larim sevenpela taim i go antap long em. | Let his heart be changed from man’s, and let a beast’s heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.
Dispela samting em i bilong lo bilong ol wasman, na dispela strongpela tok long tok bilong ol lain i holi. As bilong dispela em long ol samting i gat laip i ken save long God i Antap olgeta, Em i stap bosman insait long kingdom bilong ol man, na Em i givim dispela i go long ol husat Em i laik, na Em i save putim i stap bos antap long dispela ol man i no gat biknem. | This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
Mi yet king Nebukatnesar i bin lukim dispela driman. Nau yu, O Betlesasar, tokaut long mekim dispela as tingting bilong em i kamap klia, tru tumas olgeta saveman bilong kingdom bilong mi i no inap long kliaim mi long dispela as tingting, tasol yu em inap, long wanem spirit bilong ol god i holi i stap insait long yu. | This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
¶ Long dispela taim Danyel, nem bilong em i Beltesasar, i kirap nogut i go inap long wanpela aua, na ol tingting bilong em i wok long givim hevi long em. King i spik, na i tok, Beltesasar, yu no ken larim driman o as tingting bilong em i givim hevi long yu. Beltesasar i bekim na spik, Bikman bilong mi, dispela driman i mas i go long ol lain i no laikim tru yu, na dispela as tingting bilong em i bilong ol birua bilong yu. | Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.
Dispela diwai yu lukim em, na em i kamap, na i stap strongpela, na longpela bilong em i kamap inap long heven, na olgeta hap bilong dispela graun em inap lukluk long em, | The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;
Ol lip bilong em i naispela, na prut bilong em i planti moa, na long em i gat kaikai bilong olgeta, na aninit long em ol animal bilong ples op i save stap, na ol pisin bilong heven i save stap antap long ol han bilong em. | Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:
Dispela em i yu, O king, yu bin kamap bikpela man na kamap strongpela. Long wanem biknem bilong yu i kamap bikpela moa, na em i kamap inap long heven, na pasin long yu i stap king bilong ol i go long arere tru bilong dispela graun. | It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.
Na olsem king i bin lukim wanpela wasman na wanpela i holi i kam daun long heven, na i spik, Katim dispela diwai i go daun, na bagarapim em olgeta, tasol larim as bilong dispela diwai i stap yet insait long graun, yes wantaim wanpela samting i raunim em, na i bilong ain na bras. Na dispela bai stap insait long gutpela gras bilong ples op, na larim em i stap wet long tuhat bilong heven, na larim hap skel bilong em i stap wantaim ol animal bilong ples op, i go inap long sevenpela taim i go antap long em. | And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;
Dispela em i as tingting bilong em, O king, na dispela em i lo bilong dispela wanpela i Antap olgeta, na em i kam long bikman bilong mi, em yu king. | This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:
Em i olsem, ol bai rausim yu long ol man, na ples bilong yu bai sindaun i stap wantaim ol animal bilong ples op, na ol bai mekim yu kaikai gras olsem ol bulmakau man, na ol bai wetim yu long tuhat bilong heven, na sevenpela taim bai i kam long yu i go inap long yu i save long dispela wanpela i Antap olgeta, Em i stap bosman insait long kingdom bilong ol man, na Em i givim dispela i go long husat Em i laik givim. | That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
Na tu olsem ol i mekim strongpela tok long larim as bilong ol rop bilong diwai i stap yet, kingdom bilong yu bai stap yet long yu, bihain long yu save pinis long ol heven i save mekim wok bilong bosim. | And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.
Olsem na, O king, larim tok save bilong mi i orait long yu, na lusim ol sin bilong yu long stretpela pasin, na ol pasin bilong kalapim lo bilong yu long pasin bilong soim sori long ol rabisman, sapos em inap long mekim yu i stap bel isi longpela taim moa liklik. | Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.
¶ Na dispela olgeta samting i kamap long king Nebukatnesar. | All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.
Na long pinis bilong 12-pela mun em i wokabaut i go insait long bikpela haus king bilong kingdom bilong Babilon. | At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.
King i spik, na i tok, Ating dispela i no bikpela Babilon, mi yet i bin wokim em bilong i stap haus bilong dispela kingdom long strong bilong pawa bilong mi, na long givim biknem i go long pasin bilong i stap king bilong mi, a? | The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
Na taim dispela tok i stap insait long maus bilong king, i gat wanpela nek i kam long heven na i tok, O king Nebukatnesar, dispela tok i go long yu, Dispela kingdom i lusim yu. | While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
Na ol bai ranim yu i stap longwe long ol man, na ples bilong yu i sindaun i stap bai stap wantaim ol animal bilong ples op. Ol bai mekim yu i kaikai gras olsem bulmakau man, na sevenpela taim bai i kam long yu, i go inap long yu save long dispela wanpela i Antap olgeta, Em i stap bosman long kingdom bilong ol man, na Em i givim dispela long husat Em i laik givim. | And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
Long dispela aua tasol dispela samting i kamap pinis long Nebukatnesar. Na ol i ranim em i go longwe long ol man, na em i kaikai gras olsem ol bulmakau man, na bodi bilong em i wet long tuhat bilong heven, i go inap long ol gras bilong em i kamap olsem gras bilong taragau, na ol kapa bilong pinga bilong em i olsem ol kapa bilong pinga bilong ol pisin. | The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.
¶ Na long pinis bilong ol dispela de, mi Nebukatnesar i litimapim tupela ai bilong mi i go long heven, na gutpela save bilong mi i bin kam bek long mi, na mi blesim dispela wanpela i Antap olgeta, na mi givim biknem na ona long Em husat i stap laip oltaim oltaim, samting Em i bosim em i samting i stap oltaim oltaim, na kingdom bilong Em i long taim bilong ol papa na i go long ol pikinini. | And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:
Na olgeta manmeri i stap long dispela graun i gat namba i olsem samting nating. Na Em i save mekim ol samting bilong bihainim laik bilong Em insait long ami bilong heven, na tu namel long ol manmeri i stap long dispela graun. Na i no gat wanpela i ken pasim han bilong Em, o i ken tok long Em, Yu mekim wanem? | And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
Na long dispela taim stret olgeta save i kam bek long mi, na bilong givim glori long kingdom bilong mi, ona bilong mi na amamas i kam bek long mi, na ol kaunsil bilong mi na ol bikman bilong mi i painim mi i stap, na mi kisim strong insait long kingdom bilong mi, na ol i skruim i go long mi ol nambawan pasin bilong i stap king. | At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.
Nau mi Nebukatnesar i givim biknem na litimapim nem na givim ona i go long King bilong heven, olgeta wok bilong Em i tru, na ol pasin bilong Em i stretpela kot. Na ol man i wokabaut insait long hambak pasin Em inap long daunim ol. | Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
