| 1 | ¶ Nau em i kamap olsem, taim Sanbalat, na Tobaia, na man Arabia Gesem, na olgeta arapela bilong ol birua bilong mipela, i harim long mi bin wokim banis, na long i no gat bruk i stap insait yet long en, (maski long dispela taim mi no bin sanapim ol dua antap long ol dua bilong banis,) | Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;) |

Tasol ol i gat tingting long mekim trabel long mi. | That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief. |

Bilong wanem wok i ken pas, taim mi lusim dispela, na kam daun long yupela? | And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you? |

| 5 | Nau Sanbalat i salim wokboi bilong em i kam long mi long wankain pasin long namba faiv taim wantaim wanpela pas i op long han bilong em, | Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand; |
| 6 | We insait long en dispela rait i stap, Dispela ripot i kamap namel long ol haiden, na Gasmu i toktok long en, long yu na ol Ju i gat tingting long bikhet long king. Long wanem, long dispela as yu wokim banis, inap long yu ken stap king bilong ol, bilong bihainim ol dispela toktok. | Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words. |
| 7 | Na yu bin makim tu ol profet bilong autim tok long apim yu long Jerusalem, i spik, I gat wanpela king long Juda. Na nau dispela ripot bai go long king bilong bihainim ol dispela toktok. Olsem na i kam nau, na yumi kisim tok helpim wantaim. | And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together. |

| 9 | Long wanem, ol olgeta i mekim mipela pret, i spik, Ol han bilong ol bai i no gat strong bilong mekim wok, inap long em i no inap kamap. Olsem na nau, O God, strongim tupela han bilong mi. | For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands. |
| 10 | ¶ Bihain long en mi kam long haus bilong Semea, pikinini man bilong Delea, pikinini man bilong Mehetabel, husat i stap pas. Na em i tok, Yumi bung wantaim insait long haus bilong God, insait long tempel, na yumi pasim ol dua bilong tempel. Long wanem, ol bai kam bilong kilim yu i dai. Yes, long nait bai ol i kam bilong kilim yu. | Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee. |

Bai mi no inap go insait. | And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in. |

Long wanem, Tobaia na Sanbalat i bin baim em. | And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him. |
| 13 | Olsem na ol i baim em pinis, inap long mi ken pret, na mekim olsem, na sin, na long ol i ken gat samting bilong wokim wanpela ripot nogut, inap long ol i ken givim sem long mi. | Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me. |
| 14 | God bilong mi, Yu tingting long Tobaia na Sanbalat bilong bihainim ol dispela wok bilong ol, na long dispela profet meri Noadaia, na olgeta arapela bilong ol profet, husat i gat laik long mekim mi pret. | My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear. |
| 15 | ¶ Olsem na banis i pinis long namba 25 de bilong mun Elul, long 52 de. | So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days. |

Long wanem, ol i kisim save long dispela wok God bilong mipela i wokim. | And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God. |
| 17 | Na moa tu long ol dispela de ol bikman bilong Juda i salim planti pas i go long Tobaia, na ol pas bilong Tobaia i kam long ol. | Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them. |
| 18 | Long wanem, i gat planti insait long Juda husat i wokim strongpela promis pinis i go long em, bilong wanem, em i tambu pikinini man bilong Sekanaia, pikinini man bilong Ara. Na pikinini man bilong em Johanan i bin maritim pikinini meri bilong Mesulam, pikinini man bilong Berekaia. | For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he was the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah. |
| 19 | Na tu ol i givim ripot long ol gutpela wok bilong em long ai bilong mi, na toktok long ol toktok bilong mi long em. Na Tobaia i salim ol pas bilong mekim mi pret. | Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear. |
