| 2 | Long wanem, ol i gat husat i tok, Mipela, ol pikinini man bilong mipela, na ol pikinini meri bilong mipela, i planti. Olsem na mipela kisim ol wit samting bilong ol, inap long mipela ken kaikai na i stap laip. | For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live. |
| 3 | Sampela tu i stap husat i tok, Mipela bin wokim dinau long ol hap graun bilong mipela, ol gaden wain, na ol haus, inap long mipela i ken baim wit samting. Bilong wanem, bikpela taim hangre i stap. | Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth. |
| 4 | I gat sampela tu husat i tok, Mipela bin kisim dinau mani bilong baim takis mani bilong king, na dispela antap long ol hap graun na ol gaden wain bilong mipela. | There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards. |
| 5 | Tasol nau ol bodi bilong mipela i stap olsem ol bodi bilong ol brata bilong mipela, ol pikinini bilong mipela olsem ol pikinini bilong ol. Na, harim, mipela bringim aninit long kalabus ol pikinini man bilong mipela na ol pikinini meri bilong mipela bilong kamap ol wokboi. Na sampela bilong ol pikinini meri bilong mipela ol i bringim i go long kalabus pinis. Na tu em i no stap long strong bilong mipela bilong baim bek ol. Long wanem, ol arapela man i gat ol hap graun na ol gaden wain bilong mipela. | Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards. |

And I set a great assembly against them. |

Nau ol i pasim ol maus bilong ol, na ol i no painim wanpela samting bilong bekim tok. | And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer. |

| 10 | Wankain olsem, mi, na ol brata bilong mi, na ol wokboi bilong mi, i ken strong long kisim mani na wit samting long ol. Mi askim yupela plis, larim yumi lusim dispela winmani long dinau. | I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury. |
| 11 | Givim bek, mi askim yupela plis, long ol, yes tude, ol hap graun bilong ol, ol gaden wain bilong ol, ol gaden oliv bilong ol, na ol haus bilong ol, na tu ol namba 100 hap bilong mani, na bilong wit samting, wain, na wel, dispela yupela i strong long kisim long ol. | Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them. |

Nau mi singautim ol pris, na kisim wanpela strongpela promis long ol, inap long ol i ken mekim bilong bihainim dispela promis. | Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise. |

Yes, olsem tasol bai God i ken seksekim em i go ausait, na mekim em i kamap emti. Na olgeta bung bilong ol manmeri i tok, Amen, na litimapim nem bilong BIKPELA. Na ol manmeri i bin mekim bilong bihainim dispela promis. | Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the Lord. And the people did according to this promise. |
| 14 | ¶ Na moa tu, i stat long taim long ol i makim mi bilong stap nambawan gavman bilong ol long hap bilong Juda, i stat long namba 20 yia, yes, i go inap long namba 32 yia bilong king Artaserksis, em i olsem, 12 yia, mi na ol brata bilong mi i no bin kaikai long bret bilong nambawan gavman. | Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor. |

Tasol mi no bin mekim olsem, bilong wanem, pret bilong God i stap. | But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God. |

Na olgeta wokboi bilong mi i bung i stap long dispela hap i go long dispela wok. | Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered thither unto the work. |
| 17 | Na moa tu i gat long tebol bilong mi 150 bilong ol Ju na ol hetman, i no kaunim ol husat i lusim ol haiden husat i stap raun nabaut long yumi long kam long mipela. | Moreover there were at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that are about us. |
| 18 | Nau dispela samting ol i redim bilong mi olgeta wan wan de em i wanpela bulmakau man na sikispela nambawan sipsip. Na tu ol i redim bilong mi ol pisin, na wanpela taim long olgeta tenpela de bakstua bilong olgeta kain wain. Tasol bilong tingim olgeta dispela, mi no bin strong long askim long bret bilong nambawan gavman, bilong wanem, kalabus i hevi antap long dispela lain manmeri. | Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people. |
