¶ Bihainim pasin bilong laikim tru, na laikim bilong kisim ol presen long spirit sait, tasol mobeta long yupela i ken autim tok profet. | Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
Long wanem, em husat i toktok long tok ples ol man i no save i no toktok long ol man, tasol long God. Long wanem, i no gat man i kisim save long toktok bilong em. Tasol insait long spirit em i toktok long ol samting hait. | For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
Tasol em husat i autim tok profet i toktok long ol man long strongim bilip, na strongim bel, na givim bel isi. | But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
Em husat i toktok long tok ples ol man i no save i strongim bilip bilong em yet. Tasol em husat i autim tok profet i strongim bilip bilong sios. | He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
Mi gat laik long yupela olgeta i ken toktok wantaim ol tok ples, tasol mobeta long yupela i autim tok profet. Long wanem, em husat i autim tok profet i winim em husat i toktok wantaim ol tok ples, sapos em i no tanim tok, inap long em i ken strongim bilip bilong sios. | I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
¶ Nau, ol brata, sapos mi kam long yupela taim mi toktok wantaim ol tok ples, mi bai helpim yupela olsem wanem, sapos bai mi no toktok long yupela long pasin bilong kamapim tok hait, o long save, o long autim tok profet, o long skul? | Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
Na yes, ol samting i no gat laip i givim nois, sapos em i paip o harp, sapos ol i no givim ol nois i gat mining, olsem wanem bai ol man i ken save long wanem samting ol i winim long paip o paitim long harp? | And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?
Long wanem, sapos biugel i givim wanpela nois i no klia, husat bai redim em yet long pait? | For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
Wankain olsem yupela, sapos yupela i no toktok long tang ol toktok i isi long save, ol man bai save long wanem samting yu toktok long en olsem wanem? Long wanem, yupela bai toktok i go long win. | So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
I gat i stap, em i ken olsem, planti kain ol nek olsem long dispela graun, na i no gat wanpela bilong ol i no gat mining liklik. | There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
Olsem na sapos mi no save long mining bilong dispela nek, mi bai stap long em husat i toktok olsem wanpela wail man, na em husat i toktok bai stap wanpela wail man long mi. | Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.
Yes, olsem tasol yupela, bikos yupela i hatwok long bihainim ol presen long spirit sait, painim inap long yupela i ken kamap gutpela moa i go long strongim bilip bilong sios. | Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
Olsem na larim em husat i toktok long tok ples ol man i no save beten long em i ken tanim tok. | Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
Long wanem, sapos mi beten long tok ples ol man i no save, spirit bilong mi i beten, tasol gutpela save bilong mi i no karim kaikai. | For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
¶ Dispela em i wanem nau? Mi bai beten wantaim spirit, na mi bai beten wantaim gutpela save tu. Mi bai singim song wantaim spirit, na mi bai singim song wantaim gutpela save tu. | What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
Sapos nogat, taim yu bai blesim wantaim spirit, em husat i stap long rum bilong ol man i no gat lainim bai tok Amen olsem wanem long taim bilong givim tok tenkyu bilong yu, taim yumi luksave long em i no gat gutpela save long yu tok wanem? | Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
Long wanem, tru tumas, yu givim gutpela tok tenkyu, tasol em i no strongim bilip bilong dispela arapela. | For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
Mi tok tenkyu long God bilong mi, mi toktok wantaim ol tok ples moa long yupela olgeta. | I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
Tasol insait long sios em i bin mobeta long mi long mi toktok long faipela hap toktok wantaim gutpela save bilong mi, inap long wantaim nek bilong mi mi ken skulim ol arapela tu, long mi toktok long 10,000 hap toktok long tok ples ol man i no save. | Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
Ol brata, no ken stap ol pikinini long gutpela save. Tasol long bel nogut long narapela yupela i mas stap ol pikinini, tasol long gutpela save stap ol man. | Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.
¶ Insait long lo rait i stap pinis, Wantaim ol man bilong ol arapela tok ples na ol arapela lip bai mi toktok long dispela lain manmeri. Na yet bilong olgeta dispela ol bai i no inap harim mi, Bikpela i tok. | In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.
Olsem na ol tok ples em bilong wanpela mak, i no long ol husat i bilip, tasol long ol husat i no bilip. Tasol ol tok profet i no gat wok bilong helpim ol husat i no bilip, tasol bilong helpim ol husat i bilip. | Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
Olsem na sapos sios olgeta i kam bung wantaim long wanpela ples, na olgeta i toktok wantaim ol tok ples, na i gat i kam insait ol dispela husat i no gat lainim, o ol man i no bilip, ating i yes long ol bai tok long yupela i longlong? | If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
Tasol sapos olgeta i autim tok profet, na i gat i kam insait wanpela husat i no bilip, o wanpela husat i no gat lainim, olgeta bai soim em tru tru, olgeta bai jasim em. | But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
Na olsem tasol ol samting hait bilong bel bilong em i kamap ples klia. Na olsem taim em i pundaun long pes bilong em, em bai lotuim God, na ripot long em i tru long God i stap insait long yupela. | And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
¶ Em i olsem wanem nau, ol brata? Taim yupela i kam bung wantaim, olgeta wan wan i gat wanpela sam, i gat wanpela skul, i gat wanpela tok ples, i gat wanpela kamapim tok hait, i gat wanpela tok em i bin tanim. Larim ol man mekim olgeta samting bilong strongim bilip. | How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
Sapos wanpela man i toktok long wanpela tok ples ol man i no save, larim dispela stap long tupela, o i no moa long tripela, na dispela long taim bilong en, na larim wanpela i tanim tok. | If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
Tasol sapos i no gat man bilong tanim tok, larim em pasim maus insait long sios. Na larim em toktok long em yet, na long God. | But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
Larim ol profet i toktok long tupela o tripela, na larim olgeta arapela jasim. | Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
Sapos wanpela samting i kamap ples klia long narapela husat i sindaun klostu, larim namba wan man pasim maus bilong em. | If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
Long wanem, yupela olgeta i ken autim tok profet wanpela bihain long narapela, inap long olgeta i ken lainim, na olgeta i ken kisim bel isi. | For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
Na ol spirit bilong ol profet i stap aninit long ol profet. | And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
Long wanem, God i no man i kamapim pasin paul, tasol bel isi, olsem insait long olgeta sios bilong ol seint. | For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
¶ Larim ol meri bilong yupela i pasim maus insait long ol sios. Long wanem, em i no orait long ol i ken toktok. Tasol God i tok strong long ol long stap aninit long pasin bilong bihainim tok, olsem tu lo i tok. | Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
Tasol sapos ol i laik lainim wanpela samting, larim ol askim ol man bilong ol long haus bilong ol. Long wanem, em i wanpela samting bilong sem long ol meri long toktok insait long sios. | And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
¶ Wanem? Tok bilong God i kam ausait long yu? O em i kam long yu tasol? | What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
Sapos wanpela man i tingim em yet long em i stap wanpela profet, o em i strong long sait bilong spirit, larim em tok yes long ol dispela samting mi raitim long yupela em i ol tok strong bilong Bikpela. | If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
Tasol sapos wanpela man i no klia, larim em stap man i no klia. | But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
Olsem na, ol brata, mangalim long autim tok profet, na no ken tambuim man long toktok wantaim ol tok ples. | Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
Larim ol man mekim olgeta samting long gutpela pasin na long pasin i stret. | Let all things be done decently and in order.
