| 1 | Och HErren förskaffade en stor fisk, till att uppsluka Jona; och Jona war i fiskens buk tre dagar och tre nätter. | Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly, |
| 2 | Och Jona bad till HErran sin Gud, i fiskens buk; | And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. |
| 3 | Och han sade: Jag ropade till HErran i mine ångest, och han swarade mig; jag ropade utu helwetes buk, och du hörde mina röst. | For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. |
| 4 | Du kastade mig uti djupet, midt i hafwet, så att floderna kommo omkring mig; alle dine wåger och böljor gingo öfwer mig. | Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. |
| 5 | Jag tänkte, att jag bortkastad war ifrå din ögon; men jag skall ännu få se ditt helga tempel. | The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. |
| 6 | Wattnen omhwärfde mig allt intill mitt lif; djupet omgrep mig, sjöwassen öfwertäckte mitt hufwud. | I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O Lord my God. |
| 7 | Jag sönk neder till bergsgrunden, jorden hade beslutit mig med sina bommar ewinnerliga; men du hafwer fört mitt lif utu förderfwet, HErre min Gud. | When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. |
| 8 | Då min själ öfwergaf sig, tänkte jag uppå HErran, och min bön kom till dig, uti ditt helga tempel. | They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. |
| 9 | Men de som förlåta sig uppå sina gerningar, hwilka dock intet äro, de akta intet om nådena. | But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord. |
| 10 | Men jag will offra med tacksägelse. Min löfte will jag betala HErranom, att han mig hulpit hafwer. Och HErren sade till fisken, och han utsputade Jona in uppå landet. | And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land. |
