1	만나와 메추라기를 먹게 하시다 이스라엘 사람들의 온 무리가 엘림에서 길을 나섰다. 엘림과 시나이산 사이에 있는 신 광야에 들어섰다. 이집트 땅에서 빠져나온 뒤의 둘째 달 열다섯째 날이었다.	And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
2	그때 이스라엘 사람들의 온 무리가 광야에서 모세와 아론에게 투덜댔다.	And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
3	이스라엘 사람들이 모세와 아론에게 이렇게 따졌다. “이집트 땅에서 여호와의 손에 죽었더라면! 그때는 살코기 가마솥 곁에 앉아서 빵을 실컷 먹었는데요. 당신들이 우리를 이 광야로 데리고 나와서 이 온 무리를 굶주려 죽게 하는군요.”	And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
4	그러자 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. “보라, 내가 너희를 위해 하늘에서 양식을 비처럼 내려 줄 것이다. 백성은 나가서 날마다 그날 먹을 것만 거두어들여야 한다. 그들이 내 법규를 따르는지 시험해 볼 것이다.	Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
5	여섯째 날에는, 모아 온 것으로 음식을 준비해 보면, 날마다 거두어들이는 것의 두 배가 될 것이다.”	And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.
6	그래서 모세와 아론은 이스라엘의 모든 사람에게 말했다. “저녁이 되면, 이집트 땅에서 그대들을 데리고 나오신 분이 여호와이시라는 것을 그대들이 알 것입니다.	And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that the Lord hath brought you out from the land of Egypt:
7	아침이 되면, 여호와의 영광을 볼 것입니다. 그대들이 여호와께 투덜대는 것을 여호와께서 들으셨기 때문입니다. 우리가 무엇이라도 됩니까? 우리에게 투덜대다니요!”	And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the Lord; for that he heareth your murmurings against the Lord: and what are we, that ye murmur against us?
8	모세가 말했다. “여호와께서 그대들에게 저녁에는 고기를 주어 먹게 하시고, 아침에는 빵을 주어 실컷 먹게 하실 것입니다. 그대들이 여호와께 투덜대는 것을 여호와께서 들으셨기 때문입니다. 우리가 무엇이라도 됩니까? 그대들은 우리에게 투덜댄 것이 아니라 여호와께 투덜댄 것입니다.”	And Moses said, This shall be, when the Lord shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the Lord heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the Lord.
9	모세가 아론에게 부탁했다. “이스라엘 사람들의 온 무리에 전해 주시지요. ‘그대들은 여호와께 가까이 오십시오. 그대들이 투덜대는 것을 여호와께서 들으셨기 때문입니다.’”	And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the Lord: for he hath heard your murmurings.
10	아론이 이스라엘 사람들의 온 무리에게 말할 때, 그들이 광야 쪽으로 돌아섰다. 거기, 구름 가운데서 여호와의 영광이 나타난 것이 아닌가!	And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud.
11	여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
12	“이스라엘 사람들이 투덜대는 것을 내가 들었다. 그들에게 말해 주어라. ‘너희가 저녁 어스름에는 고기를 먹고, 아침에는 빵을 실컷 먹을 것이다. 그러면 내가 여호와 너희의 하나님이라는 것을 너희가 알 것이다.’”	I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God.
13	저녁이 되자 메추라기가 올라와서 진영을 덮었다. 그리고 아침에는 이슬이 한 겹 진영 둘레에 맺혀 있었다.	And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.
14	한 겹 내린 이슬이 사라졌다. 그런데, 아, 광야 바닥에 바삭거리는 얇은 것이 있지 않은가! 땅에 내린 서리처럼 얇은 것이었다.	And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground.
15	이스라엘 사람들이 보고서는, 그것이 무엇인지 알지 못해서 “이게 뭐지?” 하고 서로 물었다. 모세가 그들에게 말했다. “이것은 여호와께서 그대들에게 먹을거리로 주신 양식입니다.	And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat.
16	여호와께서 명령하신 말씀은 이러합니다. ‘저마다 먹을 만큼 거두어들여라. 한 사람에 2.2리터씩, 자신이 머무는 천막 안에 있는 사람 수에 맞추어 거두어들여라.’”	This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents.
17	이스라엘 사람들이 그대로 했다. 많이 거두어들인 사람도 있고 적게 거두어들인 사람도 있었다.	And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less.
18	그러나 그들이 거둔 것을 2.2리터들이 그릇으로 되어 보니, 많이 거두어들인 사람에게도 남는 것이 없고, 적게 거두어들인 사람에게도 모자라는 것이 없었다. 저마다 먹을 만큼 거두어들였다.	And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.
19	모세가 그들에게 말했다. “거두어들인 것을 조금이라도 아침까지 남겨 두는 사람이 없어야 합니다.”	And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.
20	그러나 그들은 모세의 말을 듣지 않았다. 거두어들인 것 가운데서 얼마를 아침까지 남겨 둔 사람들이 있었다. 그러자 벌레가 먹고 고약한 냄새가 났다. 모세가 그들에게 화를 냈다.	Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.
21	아침마다 사람들이 저마다 먹을 만큼을 거두어들였다. 그런데 해가 뜨거워지면, 그것이 녹아 버렸다.	And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.
22	여섯째 날에는 양식을 저마다 4.4리터씩, 곧 두 배로 거두어들였다. 무리의 우두머리들이 모두 모세에게 와서 보고했다.	And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
23	모세가 그들에게 말했다. “여호와께서 하신 말씀이 이러합니다. ‘내일은 참으로 쉬는 안식일, 여호와의 거룩한 안식일이다. 구울 것은 굽고, 삶을 것은 삶아라. 그러고도 남는 것은 나중에 너희가 먹도록 아침까지 잘 보관해 두어라.’”	And he said unto them, This is that which the Lord hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the Lord: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
24	사람들은 모세가 명령한 대로 그것을 아침까지 남겨 두었다. 그런데도 고약한 냄새를 풍기지 않고 거기에 구더기가 생기지 않았다.	And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein.
25	모세가 말했다. “남겨 둔 것은 오늘 드십시오. 오늘은 여호와의 안식일입니다. 오늘은 들판에서 양식을 찾지 못할 것입니다.	And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the Lord: to day ye shall not find it in the field.
26	6일 동안에는 그대들이 양식을 거두어들일 수 있지만, 일곱째 날인 안식일에는 들판에 양식이 없을 것입니다.”	Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.
27	일곱째 날에 백성 가운데서 몇 사람이 양식을 거두어들이려고 나갔지만 찾지 못했다.	And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none.
28	여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. “너희가 언제까지 내 명령들과 법규들 따르기를 마다하려 하느냐?	And the Lord said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?
29	보아라, 여호와가 너희에게 안식일을 주었다. 그래서 여호와가 여섯째 날에는 너희에게 이틀 먹을 양식을 주는 것이다. 일곱째 날에는 저마다 제자리에 머물러 있어라. 자기가 있는 데서 나가지 마라.”	See, for that the Lord hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
30	그래서 백성이 일곱째 날에는 편안히 쉬었다.	So the people rested on the seventh day.
31	이스라엘 집에서는 이 양식의 이름을 만나라고 지어 불렀다. 만나는 고수풀 씨앗 같았다. 하얀색이며, 맛은 꿀 넣은 납작 과자 같았다.	And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.
32	모세가 말했다. “여호와께서 명령하신 말씀은 이러합니다. ‘만나 2.2리터를 그릇에 가득 담아서 대대로 잘 간직해 두어라. 그러면 내가 너희를 이집트 땅에서 데리고 나와 광야에서 먹인 양식을 너희 후손들이 볼 수 있을 것이다.’”	And Moses said, This is the thing which the Lord commandeth, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.
33	모세가 아론에게 이렇게 부탁했다. “항아리를 하나 가져와서 만나 2.2리터를 가득 담으시지요. 그런 다음에 그것을 여호와 앞에 놓아두어 대대로 잘 간직하게 하시지요.”	And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the Lord, to be kept for your generations.
34	여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 아론은 만나를 담은 항아리를 증언 돌판 앞에 놓아두어 잘 간직하게 했다.	As the Lord commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.
35	이스라엘 사람들은 자리 잡고 살 땅에 이를 때까지 40년 동안 만나를 먹었다. 그들이 가나안 땅의 가장자리에 이를 때까지 만나를 먹었다.	And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.
36	1오멜은 1에바의 10분의 1이다.	Now an omer is the tenth part of an ephah.
