1	하나님과 맺은 언약의 증표로 할례를 하다 아브람이 99세가 되자, 여호와께서 아브람에게 나타나 말씀하셨다. “나는 엘샷다이(전능하신 하나님)다. 내 앞에서 살아가거라. 완전해지거라.	And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
2	내가 나의 언약을 나와 너 사이에 분명히 해 두마. 너의 자손이 아주 많이 불어나게 해 주마.”	And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
3	아브람이 엎드렸다. 하나님이 그에게 말씀하셨다.	And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4	“바로 내가, 보라, 나의 언약을 너와 함께 맺었다. 그래서 너는 많은 민족의 조상이 될 것이다.	As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5	너의 이름을 더는 아브람이라고 부르지 마라. 아브라함이 네 이름이 될 것이다. 내가 너를 많은 민족의 조상으로 만들 것이니까.	Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
6	너를 아주 크게 번성하게 하여, 여러 민족으로 만들어 주마. 임금도 너에게서 여럿 나올 것이다.	And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
7	내가 나와 너 사이에 나의 언약을 세우마! 너의 뒤를 이을 너의 후손과의 사이에도 대대로! 영원한 언약으로! 내가 너에게, 또 너의 뒤를 이을 너의 후손에게 하나님이 되어 주겠다.	And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
8	내가 너에게, 또 너의 뒤를 이을 너의 후손에게 네가 나그네로 살고 있는 땅을 주마. 곧 가나안 온 땅을 영원히 차지하게 해 주마. 내가 너의 후손에게 하나님이 되어 주겠다.”	And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
9	하나님이 아브라함에게 말씀하셨다. “너는 나와 맺은 언약을 지켜야 한다. 너도, 너의 뒤를 이을 너의 후손도 대대로 지켜야 한다.	And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
10	너희가 내게 지킬 언약은 이것이다. 나와 너희 사이에 또 너희 뒤를 이을 너의 후손과의 사이에 내가 맺은 언약이다. 너희 가운데 사내는 누구나 할례를 받아야 한다.	This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
11	음경 끝을 덮은 살가죽을 잘라 내거라. 그것이 나와 너희 사이에 언약의 증표가 될 것이다.	And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
12	너희 가운데 태어난 지 8일 된 사내아이는 대대로 누구나 할례를 받아야 한다. 주인집에서 태어난 남자 노예와 돈 주고 사 온 다른 나라 남자도 마찬가지다, 너의 후손이 아니기는 하지만.	And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
13	너의 집에서 태어난 남자 노예와 너의 돈으로 사 온 남자도 반드시 할례받아야 한다. 그러면 나의 언약이 영원한 언약으로 너희 살에 남을 것이다.	He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
14	음경 끝을 덮은 살가죽을 잘라 내지 않아 할례받지 않은 사내는 자기 백성에게서 잘라 내 버려라. 나와 맺은 언약을 어겼기 때문이다.”	And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
15	하나님이 아브라함에게 말씀하셨다. “너의 아내 사래의 이름을 더는 사래라고 부르지 마라. 그의 이름은 사라이다.	And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
16	내가 사라에게 복을 내려 주마. 또한 네가 사라에게서 아들을 얻게 해 주마. 내가 사라에게 복을 내려 주어, 사라가 여러 민족의 어머니가 되게 할 것이다. 여러 백성의 임금들이 사라에게서 나올 것이다.”	And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.
17	아브라함이 엎드려 웃으며 속으로 생각했다. ‘100세인 남자에게 아들이 태어날 수 있을까? 사라가 90세인데 아이를 낳을 수 있을까?’	Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?
18	아브라함이 하나님께 아뢰었다. “이스마엘이나 하나님 앞에서 잘 살아가기 바랍니다.”	And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!
19	그러자 하나님이 말씀하셨다. “아니다. 너의 아내 사라가 너에게 아들을 낳아 줄 것이다. 아이 이름을 이삭이라고 지어 부르거라. 내가 나의 언약을 이삭과 함께 세울 것이다, 그의 뒤를 이을 그의 후손을 위한 영원한 언약을.	And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
20	이스마엘을 위해 네가 하는 말을 들었다. 두고 봐라, 내가 그에게 복을 내려 줄 것이다. 그가 번성하여 아주 크게 불어나게 해 주마. 그가 우두머리 열두 명을 낳게 해 주고, 또 내가 그를 큰 민족으로 만들어 주마.	And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
21	그렇지만 나의 언약은 이삭과 함께 세울 것이다. 다음 해 이때쯤 사라가 너에게 낳아 줄 아이이다.”	But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.
22	아브라함과 말씀을 다 나누시고, 하나님은 아브라함을 떠나 올라가셨다.	And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.
23	바로 그날 아브라함은 그의 집 사람들 가운데서 사내는 모두 데려다가 음경 끝을 덮은 살가죽을 잘라 냈다. 그의 아들 이스마엘과 또 그의 집에서 태어난 모든 남자 노예와 그가 돈 주고 산 남자들에게도 그렇게 했다. 하나님이 그에게 말씀하신 대로 한 것이다.	And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.
24	아브라함은 99세에, 음경 끝을 덮은 살가죽을 잘라 냈다.	And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
25	그의 아들 이스마엘은 13세에, 음경 끝을 덮은 살가죽을 잘라 냈다.	And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
26	바로 그날 아브라함과 그의 아들 이스마엘이 할례받았다.	In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
27	그의 집 모든 사내, 곧 집에서 태어난 노예와 다른 나라 사람한테서 돈 주고 산 남자도 그와 함께 할례받았다.	And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
