1	아브람이 롯을 구해 오다 시날 임금 아므라벨, 엘라살 임금 아리옥, 엘람 임금 그돌라오멜, 고임 임금 디달의 시대에 일어난 일이다.	And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations;
2	그들이 소돔 임금 베라, 고모라 임금 비르사, 아드마 임금 시납, 스보임 임금 세메벨, 벨라 임금과 전쟁을 벌였다. 벨라는 소알이다.	That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.
3	이들은 모두 하나로 뭉쳐 싯딤 골짜기로 나아갔다. 그곳은 소금바다(사해)였다.	All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.
4	12년 동안 그돌라오멜을 섬기다가 13년째에 맞서 대든 것이다.	Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5	14년째에 그돌라오멜과 그와 함께한 임금들이 왔다. 그들이 라바 사람들을 아스드롯가르나임에서, 수스 사람들을 함에서, 엠 사람들을 사웨기랴다임에서 쳐부수었다.	And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
6	그들은 또 호리 사람들을 세일 산악 지대에서 쳐부수었다. 그래서 광야 곁에 있는 엘바란까지 갔다.	And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El–paran, which is by the wilderness.
7	그러고는 그들은 방향을 돌려 엔미스밧으로 갔다. 엔미스밧은 가데스였다. 거기서 아말렉 사람들의 온 들판과 또 하사손다말에 사는 아모리 사람들도 쳐부수었다.	And they returned, and came to En–mishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezon–tamar.
8	그래서 소돔 임금, 고모라 임금, 아드마 임금, 스보임 임금, 벨라 임금이 나갔다. 벨라는 소알이다. 싯딤 골짜기에서 그들은 쳐들어온 임금들과 싸우려고 줄지어 나섰다.	And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;
9	엘람 임금 그돌라오멜, 고임 임금 디달, 시날 임금 아므라벨, 엘라살 임금 아리옥과 싸웠다. 이 네 임금이 앞의 다섯 임금과 싸운 것이다.	With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.
10	싯딤 골짜기는 온통 역청 구덩이였다. 소돔 임금과 고모라 임금은 달아나다가 거기로 떨어졌다. 그 나머지는 산으로 달아났다.	And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.
11	쳐들어온 사람들이 소돔과 고모라에 있던 모든 것과 모든 양식을 빼앗아 가 버렸다.	And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.
12	아브람의 조카 롯도 끌어가고 그가 가진 것도 빼앗아 가 버렸다. 그때 롯은 소돔에 살고 있었던 것이다.	And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
13	빠져나온 사람이 와서 히브리 사람 아브람에게 알려 주었다. 아브람은 마므레 곧 아모리 사람들의 참나무들이 있는 데서 살고 있었다. 마므레는 에스골과 아넬의 형제였다. 이들은 아브람과 동맹을 맺은 사람들이었다.	And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.
14	아브람은 조카가 잡혀갔다는 소식을 들었다. 그러자 아브람은 자신의 집에서 태어난, 자신이 부리는 사람 318명을 모두 데리고 단까지 뒤쫓아 갔다.	And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
15	아브람은 적들에게 맞서 밤에 자신을 포함하여 자신의 노예들을 나누어 적들을 쳐부수었다. 그러고는 그들을 호바까지 뒤쫓아 갔다. 다마스쿠스 북쪽이었다.	And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
16	아브람은 재물을 모두 되찾아 왔다. 조카 롯과 롯의 재물과 여자들과 다른 사람들도 되찾아 왔다.	And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
17	멜기세덱이 아브람을 축복하다 아브람이 그돌라오멜과 그와 함께한 임금들을 쳐부수고 돌아오자, 소돔 임금이 나와 아브람을 맞이했다. 사웨 골짜기에서였다. 그곳은 임금의 골짜기였다.	And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale.
18	살렘 임금 멜기세덱이 빵과 포도주를 가지고 왔다. 그는 가장 높으신 하나님의 제사장이었다.	And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
19	그가 아브람을 축복하여 말했다. “아브람이 복받기 바랍니다. 가장 높으신 하나님 곧 하늘과 땅을 만드신 분께로부터요.	And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20	찬양받으실 분이시오, 가장 높으신 하나님은! 그대의 적들을 그대의 손에 넘겨주신 분이시오.” 아브람은 모든 것의 10분의 1을 멜기세덱에게 주었다.	And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
21	소돔 임금이 아브람에게 말했다. “사람들은 나에게 넘겨주고, 재물은 그대가 가져가시오.”	And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
22	아브람이 소돔 임금에게 대답했다. “제가 여호와 가장 높으신 하나님께 손을 높이 들고 다짐합니다. 하늘과 땅을 지으신 분께요.	And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
23	실오라기 하나, 샌들끈 하나라도 임금님의 것은 제가 가져가지 않겠습니다. 그래야 임금님이 ‘내가 아브람을 부자로 만들어 주었지.’라고 말씀하지 않으시겠지요.	That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
24	저는 그렇다손 치더라도, 젊은이들이 이미 먹은 것, 또 저와 함께 간 사람들의 몫은 빼 주세요. 아넬과 에스골과 마므레, 그들은 자신들의 몫을 가져가게 해 주세요.”	Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
