1	“너, 산양이 새끼 낳는 때를 아느냐? 사슴이 새끼 낳는 것을 지켜보고 있느냐?	Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
2	몇 달 만에 채우는지 세고 있느냐? 새끼 낳는 때를 아느냐?	Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
3	몸을 구푸려 새끼 낳고, 새끼 낳는 아픔을 떨쳐 버린단다.	They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.
4	새끼들은 튼튼해져 벌판에서 자라나지. 떠나간 후에는 어미에게 안 돌아오지.	Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.
5	누가 나귀를 놓아주었을까? 누가 들나귀 얽어맨 것을 풀어 주었을까?	Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?
6	내가 들나귀 집으로 마른땅을 주었지. 들나귀 머물 곳으로 소금땅을 주었지.	Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.
7	들나귀는 시끌벅적한 성읍을 비웃고, 몰이꾼이 소리 질러도 듣지 않아.	He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.
8	풀밭 찾아 산을 돌아다니며, 온갖 푸른 것을 찾아다니지.	The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
9	들소가 너를 위해 일하려 할까? 네 구유 곁에서 밤을 보낼까?	Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?
10	네가 들소에 밧줄 묶어 밭고랑을 갈게 할 수 있을까? 들소가 너 따라 골짜기에서 흙덩이를 잘게 부수게 할까?	Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?
11	들소가 힘세다고 믿을 수 있을까? 너의 고된 일을 들소에게 맡길 수 있을까?	Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?
12	들소가 너의 씨앗을 가져오리라 믿을 수 있을까? 너의 타작마당에 곡식을 모아 줄까?	Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?
13	타조가 날개를 흥겹게 퍼덕이지만, 그것이 황새 깃털과 날개일까?	Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?
14	타조는 제 알들을 땅에 맡겨 둔단다. 흙으로 데우는 것이지.	Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,
15	그러곤 잊어버리지. 그것이 발에 밟혀 깨어지고 있는데도. 들짐승들에게 밟히고 있는데도.	And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
16	제 새끼를 남처럼 거칠게 다루지. 고생한 것을 다 잃을까 무서워하지도 않아.	She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labour is in vain without fear;
17	하나님이 지혜를 빼앗은 거야. 깨달음을 나눠 주시지 않았던 거야.	Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
18	그래도 날개를 높이 퍼덕일 때면 말과 거기 탄 사람쯤은 우습게 여기지.	What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.
19	네가 말에게 힘을 주었느냐? 그 목에 갈기를 덧입혀 주었느냐?	Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?
20	말을 메뚜기처럼 뛰어오르게 할 수 있느냐? 히힝 거센 숨소리는 두려움이야.	Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.
21	골짜기를 파헤치며 힘을 즐기고, 무기를 마주 보고 나아가지.	He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
22	두려움을 비웃고 무서워하지 않아. 칼 앞에서 돌아서지 않아.	He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.
23	위에서는 화살통이 덜그럭거리고, 창과 투창이 번득이지.	The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
24	떨고 긴장하며 땅을 집어삼킬 듯 달리지. 나팔 소리를 듣고는 가만히 못 서 있지.	He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.
25	나팔 소리 날 때마다 히힝 소리를 내지. 멀리서도 싸움 냄새를 맡고, 지휘관들이 외치는 소리와 싸움 소리를 듣지.	He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
26	너의 깨달음 덕분일까, 매가 날아올라 남쪽으로 날개를 펼치는 것이?	Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?
27	너의 말 때문일까, 독수리가 높이 올라 높은 곳에 보금자리를 트는 것이?	Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
28	바위에서 살고 있지. 뾰족한 바위와 산악 요새에서 밤을 보내지.	She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
29	그곳에서 먹이를 찾고, 눈으로 아득한 곳을 내다보지.	From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.
30	새끼들은 피를 빨고 있어. 주검이 있는 그곳에 독수리가 있지.”	Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.
