1	“이런 것들을 내가 그대들에게 미리 말해 둔 것은 그대들이 걸려 넘어지지 않게 하려는 겁니다.	These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
2	사람들이 그대들을 회당에서 쫓아낼 겁니다. 그대들을 죽인 사람마다, 하나님을 섬긴다며 제물을 가져다 바친 것으로 생각할 때가 옵니다.	They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
3	그들이 이런 일을 할 텐데 그들은 아버지도 나도 모르기 때문입니다.	And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
4	그러나 이런 것들을 내가 그대들에게 미리 말해 두었어요. 그들의 때가 왔을 때 그런 것들에 대해 내가 직접 그대들에게 말해 주었다는 것을 그대들이 기억하도록요.” “그런데 이런 것들을 처음부터 그대들에게 말하지는 않았어요. 내가 그대들과 함께 있었기 때문입니다.	But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
5	성령님이 하실 일에 대해 말씀해 주시다 그러나 이제 내가 나를 보내신 분한테로 갑니다. 그런데 그대들 가운데 아무도 나에게 어디로 가느냐고 묻는 사람이 없어요.	But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
6	오히려 이런 것들을 그대들에게 내가 미리 말해 주어서 그대들 마음이 괴로움으로 가득 차 있어요.	But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
7	그러나 나야말로 진실을 그대들에게 말합니다. 바로 내가 떠나는 것이 그대들에게 득이 됩니다. 내가 떠나지 않으면, 보혜사가 그대들한테로 오시지 않을 겁니다. 그러나 내가 가면 그분을 그대들한테로 보낼 겁니다.	Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8	그분이 오시면 죄에 대해, 정의에 대해, 심판에 대해서 세상의 잘못을 들추어내실 겁니다.	And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9	죄에 대해서라고 한 것은 사람들이 나를 믿지 않기 때문입니다.	Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10	정의에 대해서라고 한 것은 내가 아버지한테로 가서 그대들이 나를 더는 보지 못하기 때문입니다.	Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11	심판에 대해서라고 한 것은 이 세상의 지배자가 심판을 받았기 때문입니다.	Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12	그대들에게 할 말이 아직 많이 있어요. 그러나 지금은 그대들이 감당할 수 없어요.	I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13	그런데 그분 곧 진리의 영이 오시면, 길잡이가 되어 그대들을 온갖 진리로 이끄실 겁니다. 그분은 스스로 말씀하지 않고 무엇이든 듣는 것을 말씀하실 테니까요. 닥쳐올 일을 그대들에게 알려 주실 겁니다.	Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14	바로 그분이 나를 영광스럽게 하실 겁니다. 나의 것을 받아서 그대들에게 알려 주실 것이기 때문입니다.	He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15	아버지에게 있는 것은 모두 다 나의 것입니다. 이 때문에 내가, 그분이 나의 것을 받아서 그대들에게 알려 주실 거라고 말했어요.”	All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
16	제자들의 괴로움이 변하여 기쁨이 될 것이라 하시다 “조금 있으면 그대들이 더는 나를 보지 못합니다. 그리고 다시 조금 있으면 나를 보게 될 겁니다.”	A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
17	그러자 제자들 가운데 몇 명이 서로 말했다. “우리에게 하시는 이 말씀이 무슨 뜻인가? ‘조금 있으면 그대들이 나를 보지 못합니다. 그리고 다시 조금 있으면 나를 보게 될 겁니다,’ 또 ‘내가 아버지한테로 가기 때문입니다.’ 하고 말씀하시다니!”	Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
18	이어서 그들이 말했다. “그가 말씀하시는 ‘조금 있으면’이라는 이 말이 무슨 뜻인가? 무슨 뜻으로 하시는 말씀인지 우리가 알지 못하네.”	They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.
19	예수님은 그들이 예수님께 묻고 싶어 한다는 것을 아셨다. 그래서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “그대들은 내가 한 말을 두고 서로 이러니저러니 하고 있는 겁니까? ‘조금 있으면 그대들이 나를 보지 못합니다. 그리고 다시 조금 있으면 나를 보게 될 겁니다.’ 하고 내가 한 말을요.	Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
20	아멘 아멘 그대들에게 말합니다. 울고, 슬퍼할 겁니다, 그대들은! 그러나 세상은 기뻐할 겁니다. 그대들은 괴로워할 겁니다. 그러나 그대들의 괴로움이 바뀌어 기쁨이 될 겁니다.	Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
21	여자가 아이를 낳을 때에는 괴로움을 겪습니다. 진통을 겪을 때가 왔기 때문입니다. 하지만 그 아이를 낳고 나면 더는 그 큰 어려움을 기억하지 않아요. 사람이 세상에 태어났다는 기쁨 때문이지요.	A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
22	그러므로 바로 그대들도 지금은 괴로움을 겪고 있어요. 그러나 내가 다시 그대들을 보게 될 겁니다. 그러면 그대들의 마음이 기쁠 것입니다. 그대들의 기쁨을 그대들한테서 빼앗아 갈 사람은 아무도 없어요.	And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
23	바로 그날에는 그대들이 나에게 아무것도 물어보지 않을 겁니다. 아멘 아멘 그대들에게 말합니다. 그대들이 내 이름을 내세워 아버지께 무엇이든 달라고 하면 그대들에게 주실 것입니다.	And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24	지금까지는 그대들이 내 이름으로 달라고 한 것이 아무것도 없어요. 그러나 달라고 하세요. 그러면 받을 것입니다. 그대들에게 기쁨이 가득 차게 될 것입니다.”	Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
25	세상을 이겼다고 말씀하시다 “이런 것들을 내가 그대들에게 다른 말로 돌려서 말해 주었어요. 그러나 그대들에게 더는 돌려서 말하지 않고, 아예 터놓고 아버지에 대해 그대들에게 알려 줄 때가 옵니다.	These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
26	바로 그날에는 그대들이 내 이름으로 달라고 할 겁니다. 내가 직접 그대들을 위해 아버지께 요청드리겠다는 말이 아닙니다.	At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
27	아버지께서 친히 그대들을 좋아하시기 때문입니다. 그대들이 나를 좋아했고 또 내가 하나님께로부터 나왔다는 것을 믿었기 때문이지요.	For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
28	내가 아버지한테서 나와서 세상에 와 있어요. 그런데 다시 세상을 버려두고 아버지한테로 갑니다.”	I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
29	예수님의 제자들이 말한다. “보세요! 이제는 선생님이 아예 터놓고 말씀하시는군요. 전혀 돌려서 말씀하지 않으십니다.	His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
30	이제는 우리가 알겠습니다. 선생님이 모든 것을 알고 계시다는 것을요. 누군가가 선생님께 더는 여쭤볼 필요가 없습니다. 이런 까닭에 우리는 선생님이 하나님께로부터 나오셨다는 것을 믿습니다.”	Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
31	그들에게 예수님이 대답하셨다. “그대들이 이제 믿는 겁니까?	Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
32	보세요, 때가 오는데, 벌써 와 있어요. 그때에 그대들은 저마다 그대들 자신이 있던 곳으로 흩어지고 나만 혼자 버려둘 겁니다. 그러나 나는 혼자가 아니에요. 아버지께서 나와 함께 계시기 때문입니다.	Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33	이런 것들을 내가 그대들에게 미리 말해 둔 것은 그대들이 내 안에서 평화를 누리게 하려는 겁니다. 세상에서는 그대들이 큰 어려움을 겪습니다. 그러나 힘내세요! 바로 내가 세상을 이겼습니다!”	These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
