1	예레미야가 풀려나 그달랴에게 가다 여호와께로부터 예레미야에게 내려온 말씀. 느부사라단 호위대장이 예레미야를 라마에서 풀어 준 뒤였다. 예레미야가 느부사라단에게 붙잡혀, 사슬에 묶여 있었던 것이다. 그는 예루살렘과 유다에서 바빌론으로 사로잡혀 가던 모든 사람 가운데 있었다.	The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after that Nebuzar–adan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.
2	호위대장이 예레미야를 빼내 와서 그에게 말했다. “여호와 그대의 하나님이 이런 재난이 이곳에 닥칠 것이라 말씀하셨소.	And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The Lord thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.
3	여호와께서는 말씀하신 대로 재난이 닥치게 하셨소. 말씀이 이루어지게 하셨소. 당신들이 여호와께 죄를 짓고 여호와의 목소리를 듣지 않았기 때문이오. 그래서 당신들에게 이런 일이 닥친 것이오.	Now the Lord hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the Lord, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.
4	이제, 보시오, 내가 오늘 그대를 자유롭게 하여 그대의 손을 묶어 둔 사슬을 풀어 주었소. 나와 함께 바빌론으로 가는 것이 그대 보기에 좋으면 함께 갑시다. 그러면 내 눈길을 그대에게 두고 보살필 것이오. 나와 함께 바빌론으로 가는 것이 그대 보기에 좋지 않으면 그만 떠나도 좋소. 보시오, 온 땅이 그대 앞에 있소. 좋은 곳으로, 그대 보기에 가기 알맞은 곳으로 가시오.”	And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
5	그러나 예레미야는 아직 돌아서지 않았다. 호위대장이 다시 말했다. “돌아서서 그달랴에게로 가시오. 그는 아히감의 아들이자 사반의 손자인데, 바빌론 임금이 유다의 도시들을 맡아 돌보도록 임명한 사람이오. 그와 함께 백성 가운데 머무시오. 아니면 그대 눈에 가기 알맞은 곳이면 어디로든 가시오.” 호위대장은 예레미야에게 길에서 먹을 것과 선물을 주어 내보냈다.	Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.
6	예레미야는 아히감의 아들 그달랴에게 갔다. 미스바로 간 것이다. 그러고는 그 땅에 남아 있던 백성 가운데서 그달랴와 함께 머물렀다. ()	Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.
7	그달랴가 유다 땅을 맡아 돌보다 들판에 있던 군대의 모든 지휘관이 그의 부하들과 함께 소식을 들었다. 바빌론 임금이 아히감의 아들 그달랴를 그 땅을 맡아 돌볼 사람으로 임명했다는 것이다. 그에게 남자들과 여자들과 아이들을 맡겨 돌보게 했다는 것이다. 곧 바빌론으로 사로잡혀 가지 않은 그 땅의 보잘것없는 사람들도 그에게 맡겼다는 것이다.	Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;
8	그래서 그달랴를 만나러 미스바로 온 지휘관으로는 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘이 있었다. 요하난과 요나단도 있었는데 이들은 가레아흐의 아들들이었다. 단후멧의 아들 스라야, 느도바 사람 에배의 아들들, 마아가 사람의 아들 여사냐도 있었다. 이들이 자신의 부하들과 함께 왔다.	Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
9	아히감의 아들이자 사반의 손자인 그달랴가 그들과 그들의 부하들에게 맹세하며 말했다. “칼데아 사람들 섬기기를 두려워하지 마세요. 이 땅에 살면서 바빌론 임금을 섬기세요. 그렇게 하는 것이 여러분에게 좋을 것입니다.	And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
10	나부터, 보세요, 미스바에 살겠습니다. 그러면서 우리에게 오는 칼데아 사람들 앞에 나서겠습니다. 여러분은 포도주와 여름 과일과 기름을 거두어들여 여러분의 그릇에 담아 두세요. 여러분이 차지하고 있는 도시에서 살도록 하세요.”	As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.
11	모압과 암몬 사람들 가운데와 에돔에 사는 유다 사람들이 있었다. 다른 모든 나라에 있는 유다 사람들도 있었다. 이 모든 사람들도 소식을 들었다. 소식에 따르면, 바빌론 임금이 유다에 사람을 남겨 두었다고 했다. 또 바빌론 임금이 그 남은 사람들을 맡아 돌볼 사람을 임명했다고 했다. 그 사람이 아히감의 아들이자 사반의 손자인 그달랴라고 했다.	Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;
12	그래서 그 모든 유다 사람이 내쫓겨 가 있었던 모든 곳에서 돌아왔다. 유다 땅으로 와서 그달랴를 만나러 미스바로 왔다. 그들은 포도주와 여름 과일을 매우 많이 거두어들였다. (, )	Even all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.
13	그달랴가 죽다 가레아흐의 아들 요하난이 군대의 모든 지휘관들과 함께 들판에 있었다. 그들이 그달랴를 만나러 미스바로 왔다.	Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,
14	그들이 그달랴에게 말했다. “잘 알고 계시지요? 암몬 사람들의 임금 바알리스가 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘을 보냈습니다. 당신을 쳐서 목숨을 빼앗으려고요.” 그런데 아히감의 아들 그달랴는 그들의 말을 믿지 않았다.	And said unto him, Dost thou certainly know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to slay thee? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.
15	가레아흐의 아들 요하난이 미스바에서 그달랴에게 몰래 말했다. “제가 가서 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘을 쳐 죽이겠습니다. 아무도 모르게요. 무슨 까닭으로 그가 당신을 쳐서 목숨을 빼앗게 내버려두려 하나요? 그렇게 되면 당신에게로 모여든 모든 유다 사람이 흩어져, 유다의 남은 사람들이 망하게 될 것입니다.”	Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?
16	아히감의 아들 그달랴가 가레아흐의 아들 요하난에게 대답했다. “그런 일은 하지 마세요. 그대가 이스마엘을 두고 하는 말은 사실이 아니니까요.”	But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, Thou shalt not do this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.
