1	요시야가 우상을 없애다 임금이 불러 모으자, 유다와 예루살렘의 원로들이 다 모여들었다.	And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.
2	임금이 여호와의 집에 올라갈 때 유다 사람 모두와 예루살렘 주민 모두가 그와 함께했다. 제사장들, 예언자들, 어린아이부터 어른까지 온 백성이 함께했다. 임금은 그들이 듣는 데서, 여호와의 집에서 찾은 언약의 책에 있는 모든 말씀을 읽었다.	And the king went up into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the Lord.
3	임금은 기둥 곁에 서서 여호와 앞에서 언약을 맺었다. 여호와를 따라 걸으며 그분의 명령과 그분의 증언과 그분의 규정을 마음과 목숨을 다해 지키겠다는 언약이었다. 그래서 이 책에 적혀 있는 이 언약의 말씀을 이루겠다는 것이었다. 온 백성이 그 언약에 함께했다.	And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.
4	임금은 힐기야 대제사장과 그 아래 제사장들과 문을 지키는 이들에게 명령을 내렸다. 바알과 아세라와 하늘의 별을 섬기려고 만든 모든 그릇을 여호와의 성전에서 꺼내게 했다. 그러고는 예루살렘 바깥 기드론 들판에서 그것을 불태웠다. 태우고 남은 재는 베델로 가져가게 했다.	And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Beth–el.
5	또 임금은 우상을 섬기는 제사장들을 쫓아냈다. 그들은 유다 임금들이 세운 제사장들이었다. 그들이 유다의 여러 도시와 예루살렘 둘레에 있는 높은곳(산당)들에서 향을 피워 바치고 있었던 것이다. 또한 바알, 태양, 달, 별자리, 하늘의 모든 별에 향을 피워 바치는 사람들을 쫓아냈다.	And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
6	아세라 형상을 여호와의 집에서 꺼내 예루살렘 바깥 기드론 마른시내로 가져갔다. 그것을 기드론 마른시내에서 불사르고 깨뜨려 가루로 만들었다. 그 가루를 백성의 무덤 위에 뿌렸다.	And he brought out the grove from the house of the Lord, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.
7	또한 여호와의 집에 있던 몸을 바친 남자들의 집을 헐어 버렸다. 이곳은 여자들이 아세라를 덮을 천을 짜던 곳이다.	And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
8	그는 유다의 여러 도시에서 모든 제사장을 불러왔다. 그 제사장들이 향을 피워 바치던 높은곳(산당)들을 게바에서 브엘세바까지 더럽혔다. 또한 성문에 있던 높은곳(산당)들을 헐었다. 이 높은곳(산당)들은 도시의 책임자 여호수아가 세운 문 어귀에 있었다. 도시의 문으로 들어갈 때 왼쪽이었다.	And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beer–sheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city.
9	그러나 높은곳(산당)들의 제사장들은 예루살렘에 있는 여호와의 제단에 올라갈 수 없었다. 다만 누룩없는빵(무교병)을 동료 제사장들 가운데서 함께 먹었다.	Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the Lord in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.
10	그는 벤힌놈 골짜기에 있는 도벳을 더럽혔다. 아무도 거기에서 자기 아들이나 딸을 불 가운데로 지나가게 하는 일, 곧 몰렉에게 바치는 일을 못 하게 하려는 것이었다.	And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
11	그는 유다 임금들이 해에게 바친 말들을 없앴다. 그 말들은 여호와의 집으로 들어가는 곳, 뜰 안에 있는 느단멜렉이라는 왕궁 관리의 방 옆에 있었다. 또한 해 수레를 불로 태웠다.	And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the Lord, by the chamber of Nathan–melech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.
12	유다 임금들이 만든 아하스의 위층 방 옥상 위에 세운 제단들과, 므낫세가 여호와의 집 두 뜰에 세운 제단들을 임금은 헐어 버렸다. 이 제단들을 거기서 부수어 그 가루를 기드론 마른시내에 뿌렸다.	And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.
13	예루살렘 앞 ‘파괴의 산’ 남쪽에 이스라엘 임금 솔로몬이 세운 높은곳(산당)들을 더럽혔다. 시돈 사람들의 밉살스러운 우상 아슈타르테, 모압의 밉살스러운 우상 그모스, 암몬 사람들의 역겨운 우상 밀곰을 섬기려고 세운 것이다.	And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.
14	기둥을 깨뜨리고 아세라 말뚝을 베어 낸 다음 그 자리를 죽은 사람의 뼈로 가득 채웠다.	And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.
15	또한 베델에 제단과 높은곳(산당)이 있었는데, 이스라엘을 죄짓게 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 만든 것이었다. 임금은 그 제단과 그 높은곳(산당)을 모두 헐어 버렸다. 그 높은곳(산당)을 불사르고 부수어 먼지로 만들고, 아세라를 불살랐다.	Moreover the altar that was at Beth–el, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.
16	요시야가 눈길을 돌려 거기 산에 있는 무덤들을 보았다. 그는 사람을 보내 무덤에서 뼈를 꺼내 와 제단 위에다 불살랐다. 그렇게 제단을 더럽혔다. 하나님의 사람이 외쳤던 여호와의 말씀대로 되었다. 그 사람은 이런 일이 있을 것이라 외친 사람이다.	And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the Lord which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.
17	임금이 말했다. “내가 보고 있는 이 묘비는 무엇인가요?” 그 도시 사람들이 그에게 말했다. “하나님의 사람의 무덤입니다. 그는 유다에서 온 사람입니다. 임금님이 베델의 제단에 하신 이 일이 있을 것이라고 외쳤던 사람이지요.”	Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Beth–el.
18	임금이 말했다. “그분은 놔두세요. 아무도 그분의 뼈를 건드리지 마세요.” 그리하여 그들은 그의 뼈와 사마리아에서 온 예언자의 뼈를 그대로 두었다.	And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.
19	이스라엘 임금들이 사마리아 여러 도시에 높은곳(산당)들의 신전을 지어 여호와를 화나시게 했었는데, 그 신전들도 요시야가 모두 치워 버렸다. 베델에서 했던 일 그대로 거기에다 했다.	And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the Lord to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Beth–el.
20	거기에 있던 높은곳(산당)들의 제사장들을 모두 제단 위에서 잡아 죽였다. 그러고는 그 위에 사람 뼈를 불사른 다음 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다. ()	And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men’s bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.
21	요시야가 넘는명절을 지키다 임금이 온 백성에게 명령을 내렸다. “여호와 여러분의 하나님께 드리는 넘는명절(유월절)을 지키십시오. 이 언약의 책에 적힌 대로 하십시오.”	And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the Lord your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.
22	넘는명절(유월절)은 한 번도 이렇게 지킨 적이 없었던 것이다. 재판관(사사)들이 이스라엘을 다스리던 때부터 이스라엘 임금들과 유다 임금들이 다스리던 때를 통틀어 그러하다.	Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;
23	요시야 임금 열여덟째 해에 이르러서야 여호와께 드리는 넘는명절(유월절)을 예루살렘에서 이렇게 지킨 것이다.	But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was holden to the Lord in Jerusalem.
24	요시야가 마음을 다해 율법을 따르다 또한 요시야는 죽은 사람의 영을 불러내는 사람, 점쟁이, 집안우상(드라빔), 우상, 온갖 밉살스러운 우상들을 유다 땅과 예루살렘에서 보이는 대로 다 없애 버렸다. 힐기야 제사장이 여호와의 집에서 찾은 책에 적혀 있는 율법의 말씀을 지키려는 것이었다.	Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.
25	그와 같은 임금은 그 이전에 없었다. 그는 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하고 힘을 다해 모세의 율법을 모두 따르며 여호와께로 돌아왔다. 그 이후에도 그와 같은 임금은 일어나지 않았다.	And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.
26	그러나 유다를 향한 노여움으로 불타오르신 여호와는 자신의 큰 노여움을 누그러뜨리지 않으셨다. 므낫세가 온갖 화내실 만한 일을 해서 그분의 화를 돋우었기 때문이다.	Notwithstanding the Lord turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.
27	여호와는 말씀하셨다. “내가 이스라엘을 치워 버린 것처럼 유다도 내 앞에서 치워 버릴 것이다. 내가 골라 둔 이 도시 예루살렘과, 나의 이름이 거기 있을 것이라고 말했던 집도 버릴 것이다.” ()	And the Lord said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
28	요시야가 느고에게 죽다 요시야에 관한 나머지 일과 그가 했던 모든 일은 유다 임금들의 역사일지에 적혀 있지 않은가?	Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
29	그가 다스리고 있을 때 이집트의 파라오인 느고 임금이 아시리아 임금을 만나러 유프라테스강으로 올라갔다. 요시야 임금은 그를 만나러 갔다. 그러나 느고는 그를 보고서 므깃도에서 죽였다.	In his days Pharaoh–nechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.
30	그의 신하들은 죽은 임금을 므깃도에서 수레에 실어 예루살렘으로 모셔 와, 그의 무덤에 묻었다. 그 땅의 백성은 요시야의 아들 여호아하스를 데려다가, 그에게 기름을 붓고 그의 아버지를 이어 임금으로 앉혔다. ()	And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father’s stead.
31	여호아하스가 유다 임금이 되다 여호아하스가 임금이 되었을 때 23세였다. 3개월 동안 예루살렘에서 다스렸다. 그의 어머니 이름은 하무달이고 예레미야의 딸로 립나 사람이었다.	Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
32	그는 여호와께서 보시기에 나쁜 짓을 저질렀다. 자기 조상들이 저지른 모든 짓을 그대로 따랐던 것이다.	And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
33	파라오 느고가 그를 하맛 땅에 있는 리블라에 가두었다. 예루살렘에서 다스릴 수 없게 한 것이다. 그러고는 그 땅에다 은 3.4톤과 금 34킬로그램의 조공을 물렸다.	And Pharaoh–nechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
34	파라오 느고는 요시야의 아들 엘리아김을 그의 아버지 요시야를 이어 임금으로 앉혔다. 그런 다음 그의 이름을 여호야김으로 바꾸었다. 여호아하스는 그가 잡아갔다. 그는 이집트로 가서, 거기서 죽었다. ()	And Pharaoh–nechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.
35	여호야김이 유다 임금이 되다 여호야김은 파라오에게 은과 금을 주었다. 그러나 그는 파라오가 달라는 대로 은을 주기 위해 그 땅에서 세금을 거두어야 했다. 저마다 매겨진 만큼 은과 금을 그 땅의 백성에게 받아 내서 파라오 느고에게 주었다.	And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaoh–nechoh.
36	여호야김이 임금이 되었을 때 25세였다. 11년 동안 예루살렘에서 다스렸다. 그의 어머니 이름은 스비다이고 브다야의 딸로 루마 사람이었다.	Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
37	그는 여호와께서 보시기에 나쁜 짓을 저질렀다. 자기 조상들이 저지른 모든 짓을 그대로 따랐던 것이다.	And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
