1	미가여후가 아합에게 예언하다 그러고는 3년이 흘렀다. 시리아와 이스라엘 사이에는 전쟁이 없었다.	And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.
2	3년째 되던 해에 일어난 일이다. 유다 임금 여호사밧이 이스라엘 임금한테로 내려갔다.	And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
3	이스라엘 임금은 자기 신하들에게 말했다. “길르앗의 라못이 우리 땅이라는 것을 그대들도 알지요? 그런데 우리는 시리아 임금의 손에서 그 땅을 빼앗지 않고 보고만 있어요.”	And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?
4	그러고는 그가 여호사밧에게 물었다. “나와 함께 길르앗의 라못에 싸우러 가시겠습니까?” 여호사밧이 이스라엘 임금에게 말했다. “나는 임금님과 같고 나의 백성은 임금님의 백성과 같습니다. 내가 타는 말들은 임금님의 말들과 같습니다.”	And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramoth–gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.
5	여호사밧은 이스라엘 임금에게 덧붙여 말했다. “오늘 여호와의 말씀이 어떤지 알아보시지요.”	And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the Lord to day.
6	이스라엘 임금은 예언자를 400명쯤 모아서 그들에게 말했다. “내가 길르앗의 라못에 싸우러 갈까요, 아니면 그만둘까요?” 그들이 말했다. “올라가십시오. 주님께서 임금님 손에 넘겨주실 것입니다.”	Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramoth–gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
7	여호사밧이 말했다. “여기에 여호와의 예언자가 더는 없습니까? 있다면 그 사람한테도 알아봅시다.”	And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord besides, that we might enquire of him?
8	이스라엘 임금이 여호사밧에게 말했다. “여호와께 알아볼 사람이 한 명 더 있긴 합니다. 그렇지만 나로서는 그 사람이 밉습니다. 그가 나를 두고서 좋은 예언은 하지 않고 나쁜 예언만 하거든요. 이믈라의 아들 미가여후입니다.” 여호사밧이 말했다. “임금님이 그렇게 말씀하시면 안 되지요.”	And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
9	이스라엘 임금은 왕궁 관리 한 사람을 불러서 말했다. “이믈라의 아들 미가여후를 어서 불러오시오.”	Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah.
10	이스라엘 임금과 유다 임금 여호사밧이 옷을 갖춰 입고 각자 자기 임금자리에 앉아 있었다. 사마리아 성문 어귀 타작마당에서였다. 그들 앞에서 모든 예언자가 예언하고 있었다.	And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
11	그나아나의 아들 시드기야는 자기가 쓰려고 쇠로 뿔 여러 개를 만들었다. 그러고는 말했다. “여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. ‘네가 이것을 가지고 시리아를 들이받아서 다 없애 버릴 것이다.’”	And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.
12	모든 예언자도 그렇게 예언하며 말했다. “길르앗의 라못으로 올라가십시오. 잘될 겁니다. 여호와께서 그곳을 임금님 손에 넘겨주실 것입니다.”	And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth–gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliver it into the king’s hand.
13	미가여후를 부르러 갔던 심부름꾼이 그에게 말했다. “보세요. 예언자들이 하는 말이 하나같이 임금님한테 좋은 말입니다. 예언자님의 말씀도 그들 가운데 한 사람의 말과 같기 바랍니다. 좋은 말씀을 해 주세요.”	And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.
14	미가여후가 말했다. “여호와께서 살아 계심을 걸고 분명히 말해 둡니다. 여호와께서 나한테 하시는 말씀, 그 말씀을 일러 드릴 겁니다.”	And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak.
15	그는 임금에게로 갔다. 임금이 그에게 물었다. “미가여후여, 우리가 길르앗의 라못에 싸우러 갈까요, 아니면 그만둘까요?” 그가 임금에게 말했다. “올라가십시오. 잘될 겁니다. 여호와께서 임금님 손에 넘겨주실 겁니다.”	So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth–gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
16	임금이 그에게 말했다. “내가 얼마나 여러 번 예언자님에게 맹세를 하게 해야 할까요, 여호와의 이름으로 참된 것이 아니면 아무것도 나한테 말하지 않겠다고요?”	And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the Lord?
17	미가여후가 말했다. “내가 보니 온 이스라엘이 목자 없는 양 떼처럼 산에 흩어져 있었습니다. 여호와께서 말씀하셨습니다. ‘이 사람들에게는 주인이 없다. 저마다 자기 집으로 평화롭게 돌아가게 하여라.’”	And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the Lord said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.
18	이스라엘 임금이 여호사밧에게 말했다. “내가 임금님께 말씀드리지 않았습니까, 그는 나를 두고서 좋은 예언은 하지 않고 나쁜 예언만 한다고요?”	And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?
19	미가여후가 말했다. “그러니 여호와의 말씀을 들으십시오. 나는 보았습니다, 여호와께서 여호와의 자리에 앉아 계신 것을! 하늘의 모든 군대가 여호와 곁 오른쪽과 왼쪽에 서 있었습니다.	And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
20	여호와께서 말씀하셨습니다. ‘누가 아합을 꾀어내겠느냐? 그가 길르앗의 라못으로 올라가서 쓰러져 죽게 하겠느냐?’ 그러자 이쪽에서는 이렇게 하자 하고 저쪽에서는 저렇게 하자 하고 있었습니다.	And the Lord said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth–gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.
21	어떤 영이 나와서 여호와 앞에 섰습니다. 그 영이 말했습니다. ‘내가 하겠습니다. 내가 아합을 꾀어내겠습니다.’ 여호와께서 말씀하셨습니다. ‘무슨 수로?’	And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him.
22	그가 말했습니다. ‘내가 나가서 거짓말하는 영이 되어 아합의 모든 예언자들 입에 있겠습니다.’ 여호와께서 말씀하셨습니다. ‘꾀어 보도록 해라. 할 수 있을 것이다. 나가서 그렇게 해 보아라.’	And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
23	자, 보십시오, 여호와께서 거짓말하는 영을 주셨습니다, 임금님한테 딸린 이 모든 예언자들 입에! 여호와께서 임금님에게 나쁜 일이 일어날 거라고 말씀하신 것입니다.”	Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
24	그나아나의 아들 시드기야가 다가와 미가여후의 뺨을 때리면서 말했다. “여호와의 영이 나를 떠나 도대체 어느 길로 건너가 너한테 말씀하셨단 말이냐?”	But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the Lord from me to speak unto thee?
25	미가여후가 말했다. “이보시오, 그날 그대가 볼 것이오. 그날 그대는 몸을 숨기러 깊숙한 방으로 들어갈 것이오.”	And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.
26	이스라엘 임금이 말했다. “미가여후를 잡아다가 도시의 책임자 아몬과 요아스 왕자에게로 다시 데려가시오.	And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
27	그리고 이렇게 말하시오. ‘임금님이 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. 「이 사람을 감옥에 가두시오. 내가 무사히 올 때까지 빵도 줄이고 물도 줄이시오.」’”	And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.
28	미가여후가 말했다. “임금님이 정말 무사히 돌아오실 것이었으면 여호와께서 나를 통해 말씀하지 않으셨을 겁니다.” 그러고는 덧붙여 말했다. “잘 들어 두십시오, 모든 백성 여러분!” ()	And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.
29	아합이 죽다 이스라엘 임금과 유다 임금 여호사밧이 길르앗의 라못으로 올라갔다.	So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth–gilead.
30	이스라엘 임금이 여호사밧에게 말했다. “사람들이 못 알아보도록 꾸미고 싸움터로 가겠습니다. 임금님은 그냥 임금님 옷을 입으십시오.” 이스라엘 임금은 사람들이 못 알아보도록 꾸미고 싸움터로 갔다.	And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.
31	시리아 임금이 그의 전투수레 지휘관 32명에게 명령했다. “작은 사람하고도 큰 사람하고도 싸우지 마시오. 이스라엘 임금 한 사람하고만 싸우시오.”	But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.
32	전투수레 지휘관들이 여호사밧을 보고서 말했다. “저 사람은 분명히 이스라엘 임금이다.” 그러면서 싸우려고 그에게로 몸을 돌렸다. 그러자 여호사밧이 소리쳤다.	And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.
33	전투수레 지휘관들은 그가 이스라엘 임금이 아니라는 것을 알아차리자 그를 떠나 돌아갔다.	And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
34	그러나 누군가가 아무 생각 없이 활을 당겼는데, 이스라엘 임금을 맞혔다. 갑옷의 이음새를 뚫고 맞힌 것이다. 임금은 전투수레를 모는 자기 부하에게 말했다. “뒤로 돌아라. 나를 싸움터에서 데리고 나가 다오. 내가 다쳤다.”	And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.
35	그날 싸움이 거셌다. 임금은 시리아 사람들 맞은편에 있는 전투수레 안에 그대로 있어야 했다. 그러다가 저녁에 숨을 거두었다. 상처에서 난 피가 전투수레의 우묵한 바닥으로 흘렀다.	And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.
36	해 질 무렵, 진영 가운데 외치는 소리가 퍼져 나갔다. “저마다 자신의 도시로, 저마다 자신의 땅으로!”	And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.
37	임금은 죽어서 사마리아로 왔다. 사람들이 사마리아에 임금을 묻었다.	So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.
38	그의 전투수레는 사마리아에 있는 연못가에서 씻었고, 개들이 그의 피를 핥았다. 놀아나는 여자들이 거기서 몸을 씻었다. 여호와께서 하신 말씀대로 된 것이다.	And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the Lord which he spake.
39	아합에 관한 나머지 일, 그가 한 모든 일, 그가 상아로 지은 집, 그가 세운 모든 도시들은 이스라엘 임금들의 역사일지에 적혀 있지 않은가?	Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
40	아합은 자기 조상들과 함께 누웠다. 그를 이어 그의 아들 아하시야가 임금이 되었다. ()	So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
41	여호사밧이 유다 임금이 되다 아사의 아들 여호사밧이 유다를 다스리는 임금이 되었다. 이스라엘 임금 아합 넷째 해였다.	And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.
42	여호사밧은 임금이 되었을 때 35세였다. 25년 동안 예루살렘에서 다스렸다. 그의 어머니 이름은 아수바이고 실히의 딸이었다.	Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
43	그는 자기 아버지 아사의 모든 길로 걸었다. 거기서 떠나지 않으면서 여호와께서 보시기에 올곧은 일을 했다.	And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the Lord: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.
44	다만 높은곳(산당)들만은 치워 버리지 않았다. 백성은 여전히 높은곳(산당)들에서 제물을 바치며 향을 피워 바치고 있었다.	And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
45	여호사밧은 이스라엘 임금과 평화롭게 지냈다.	Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
46	여호사밧에 관한 나머지 일과 그가 보여 준 힘과 그가 싸웠던 일은 유다 임금들의 역사일지에 적혀 있지 않은가?	And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.
47	그는 아버지 아사 때 남아 있던 몸 바친 사람들을 그 땅에서 쓸어 내 버렸다.	There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.
48	그때 에돔에는 임금이 없었고, 임금이 세워 놓은 사람이 있었다.	Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Ezion–geber.
49	여호사밧은 다르시스 배들을 만들었다. 금을 가지러 오피르로 가려는 것이었다. 그렇지만 가지 못했다. 에시온게벨에서 배들이 부서졌기 때문이다.	Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.
50	그러자 아합의 아들 아하시야가 여호사밧에게 말했다. “나의 신하들이 임금님의 신하들과 같이 배를 타고 가게 하시지요.” 그러나 여호사밧은 마음이 내키지 않았다.	And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
51	여호사밧은 자기 조상들과 함께 누워, 자기 조상 다윗의 도시에 자기 조상들과 함께 묻혔다. 그의 아들 여호람이 그를 이어 임금이 되었다.	Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.
52	아하시야가 이스라엘 임금이 되다 아합의 아들 아하시야는 사마리아에서 이스라엘을 다스리는 임금이 되었다. 유다 임금 여호사밧 열일곱째 해였다. 그는 2년 동안 이스라엘을 다스렸다.	And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:
53	그는 여호와께서 보시기에 나쁜 짓을 저질렀다. 자기 아버지와 어머니의 길을 걸었던 것이다. 이스라엘을 죄짓게 했던 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 길을 걸었던 것이다.	For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the Lord God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
54	그는 바알을 섬기면서 그에게 엎드려 절했다. 자기 아버지가 했던 그대로 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님을 노엽게 했다.	—
