1	아합이 나봇의 포도밭을 차지하다 이런 일이 있은 뒤에 일어난 일이다. 이스르엘 사람 나봇에게는 이스르엘에 포도밭이 하나 있었는데, 사마리아 임금 아합의 궁전 옆에 있었다.	And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.
2	아합이 나봇에게 말했다. “나한테 그대의 포도밭을 넘겨주어, 나의 채소밭으로 만들게 해 주시오. 포도밭이 나의 왕궁 옆에 가까이 있기 때문이오. 그 대신에 그대한테 더 좋은 포도밭을 주겠소. 그대가 괜찮다면 돈으로 그 값을 쳐서 그대에게 주겠소.”	And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.
3	나봇이 아합에게 말했다. “나에게는 있을 수 없는 일입니다. 여호와께서 하지 말라 하셨습니다. 나의 조상들에게 물려받은 땅을 임금님께 드릴 수 없습니다.”	And Naboth said to Ahab, The Lord forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.
4	아합은 뒤틀리고 격분해서 집으로 왔다. 이스르엘 사람 나봇이 자기한테 한 말 때문이었다. “조상들에게 물려받은 땅을 임금님께 드릴 수 없습니다.” 하고 그가 말했던 것이다. 아합은 침대에 누워 얼굴을 돌리고 음식도 먹지 않았다.	And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.
5	그의 아내 이세벨이 그에게 와서 말했다. “도대체 무슨 까닭으로 심기가 뒤틀려서 음식을 먹지 않는 거예요?”	But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread?
6	아합이 그에게 말했다. “내가 이스르엘 사람 나봇에게 이렇게 말했거든요. ‘돈을 받고서 그대의 포도밭을 나한테 넘겨주시오. 또는 그대가 원한다면, 그대에게 다른 포도밭을 그 대신에 주겠소.’ 그랬더니 그가 ‘나의 포도밭을 임금님께 드릴 수 없습니다.’ 하고 말하는 겁니다.”	And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.
7	그의 아내 이세벨이 그에게 말했다. “임금님은 지금 이스라엘을 다스리는 사람이에요. 일어나서 음식을 드시고 마음 푸세요. 내가 임금님께 이스르엘 사람 나봇의 포도밭을 드릴게요.”	And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.
8	이세벨은 아합의 이름으로 편지를 써서, 거기에 아합의 도장을 찍었다. 그리고 그 편지를 나봇과 함께 그 도시에 살고 있는 원로들과 귀족들에게 보냈다.	So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth.
9	편지에다 이렇게 썼다. “금식하라고 널리 알리세요. 그리고 나봇을 백성 가운데 앞에다 앉히세요.	And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people:
10	나봇의 맞은편에 두 사람의 건달을 앉힌 다음, 그를 두고 이렇게 증언하게 하세요. ‘당신이 하나님과 임금님을 저주했다.’ 그러고 나서 그를 끌어내어 돌을 던져 죽이도록 하세요.”	And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.
11	그 도시 사람들, 곧 나봇의 도시에 사는 원로들과 귀족들은 이세벨이 자신들한테 전한 말대로 했다. 이세벨이 그들에게 보낸 편지에 적힌 대로 했던 것이다.	And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them.
12	그들은 금식하라고 널리 알렸다. 그리고 나봇을 백성 가운데 앞에다 앉혔다.	They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.
13	두 사람의 건달이 와서 나봇의 맞은편에 앉았고, 건달들은 백성 맞은편에서 나봇을 두고 이렇게 증언했다. “나봇이 하나님과 임금님을 저주했습니다.” 그러자 사람들은 나봇을 도시 바깥으로 끌어내어 돌을 던져 죽였다.	And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.
14	그러고서 이세벨에게 사람을 보내 말했다. “나봇이 돌에 맞아 죽었습니다.”	Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.
15	나봇이 돌에 맞아 죽었다는 말을 이세벨이 듣자, 이세벨은 아합에게 말했다. “일어나세요. 이스르엘 사람 나봇의 포도밭을 차지하세요. 돈을 준대도 임금님한테 내놓지 않으려고 했던 밭을요. 나봇은 더 이상 살아 있지 않고 죽었으니까요.”	And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead.
16	나봇이 죽었다는 말을 아합이 듣자, 아합은 일어나 이스르엘 사람 나봇의 포도밭을 차지하려고 거기로 내려갔다.	And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.
17	엘리야가 아합과 마주하다 여호와의 말씀이 디스베 사람 엘리야에게 내려오는 일이 일어났다.	And the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,
18	“일어나 내려가거라. 사마리아에 있는 이스라엘 임금 아합과 마주하여라. 보라, 그는 지금 나봇의 포도밭에 있다. 그 밭을 차지하려고 거기 내려간 것이다.	Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it.
19	그에게 이렇게 말해 주어라. ‘여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. 「네가 죽이기도 하고 차지하기도 했느냐?」’ 그에게 이렇게 말해 주어라. ‘여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. 「개들이 나봇의 피를 핥았던 곳에서 개들이 너의 피도 핥을 것이다.」’”	And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the Lord, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.
20	아합이 엘리야에게 말했다. “나를 찾아오신 것이오, 나의 원수인 예언자님?” 엘리야가 말했다. “그렇습니다. 임금님은 여호와께서 보시기에 나쁜 짓을 저지르는 데 정신이 팔려 있으시군요.	And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the Lord.
21	그래서 여호와께서 말씀하십니다. ‘보라, 내가 너에게 나쁜 일이 일어나게 하겠다. 너를 쓸어버리고, 아합에게 있는 사내들을 이스라엘 가운데서 끊어 버리겠다. 갇힌 사람도 풀려난 사람도 모두 그렇게 할 것이다.	Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,
22	너의 집안을 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 집안처럼 만들고, 아히야의 아들 바아사의 집안처럼 만들겠다. 네가 나를 노엽게 하고 이스라엘을 죄짓게 했기 때문이다.’	And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin.
23	이세벨에게도 여호와께서 말씀하셨습니다. ‘개들이 이스르엘 성벽에서 이세벨을 먹을 것이다.	And of Jezebel also spake the Lord, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.
24	아합에게 딸린 사람이 도시에서 죽으면 개들이 먹을 것이고, 들판에서 죽으면 하늘의 새들이 먹을 것이다.’”	Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.
25	정말 아합 같은 사람은 없었다. 그는 여호와께서 보시기에 나쁜 짓을 저지르는 데 정신이 팔려 있었다. 그의 아내 이세벨이 그를 부추겼던 것이다.	But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.
26	아합은 우상들을 뒤따르며 끔찍하게 몸서리쳐지는 일을 했다. 아모리 사람들이 했던 그대로 했다. 그 사람들은 여호와께서 이스라엘 사람들 앞에서 쫓아내신 사람들이다.	And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the Lord cast out before the children of Israel.
27	아합이 이 모든 말을 들었을 때, 그는 자신의 옷을 찢었다. 맨살에다 거친 천을 걸치고 금식했다. 거친 천을 걸친 채로 눕기도 하고 풀이 죽어 걸어 다니기도 했다.	And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.
28	여호와의 말씀이 디스베 사람 엘리야에게 내려왔다.	And the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,
29	“보았느냐, 아합이 내 앞에서 자기를 낮추는 것을? 그가 내 앞에서 자기를 낮추었으니, 그의 날들에는 나쁜 일이 일어나게 하지 않겠다. 그의 아들의 날들에 그의 집안에 나쁜 일이 일어나게 하겠다.”	Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.
