1	엘리야의 예언대로 아하시야가 죽다 모압이 이스라엘과 관계를 끊었다. 아합이 죽은 뒤였다.	Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.
2	아하시야는 사마리아에 있는 자신의 위층 방 창살문 밖으로 떨어지는 바람에 다쳐서 드러누웠다. 그래서 심부름꾼들을 보내면서 그들에게 말했다. “가서 에그론의 신 바알세붑한테 물어봐 주시오, 내가 이 병을 이기고 살 수 있을지를.”	And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baal–zebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.
3	여호와의 천사가 디스베 사람 엘리야에게 말했다. “일어나 올라가세요. 사마리아 임금의 심부름꾼들과 마주치게 될 겁니다. 그들에게 이렇게 말해 주세요. ‘이스라엘에는 하나님이 안 계시기라도 하다는 말입니까? 그대들이 가고 있는 것은 에그론의 신 바알세붑한테 물어보려는 것이지요.	But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baal–zebub the god of Ekron?
4	이러므로 여호와께서 말씀하셨습니다. 「너는 네가 올라간 침대, 거기서 내려오지 못할 것이다. 너는 반드시 죽을 것이다.」’라고요.” 그래서 엘리야가 갔다.	Now therefore thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.
5	심부름꾼들이 임금에게로 돌아왔다. 그러자 임금이 그들에게 물었다. “어째서 이렇게 돌아들 왔소?”	And when the messengers turned back unto him, he said unto them, Why are ye now turned back?
6	그들이 그에게 대답했다. “어떤 사람이 올라오다가 우리와 마주쳤습니다. 그가 우리한테 말하기를 ‘가세요. 돌아가세요, 여러분을 보낸 임금에게로. 그분한테 이렇게 말씀드리세요.’라고 했어요. ‘여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. 「이스라엘에 하나님이 없기라도 하다는 말이냐? 네가 사람을 보내는구나, 에그론의 신 바알세붑한테 물어보려고! 이러므로 너는 네가 올라간 침대, 거기서 내려오지 못할 것이다. 너는 반드시 죽을 것이다.」’라고 하더군요.”	And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baal–zebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
7	아하시야가 그들에게 물었다. “그 사람의 겉모습이 어떠하던가요? 올라오다가 그대들과 마주친 사람, 그대들에게 이런 말을 해 준 사람 말이오.”	And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words?
8	그들이 그에게 대답했다. “털옷을 입은 사람이었습니다. 가죽 허리띠를 허리에 두르고 있었고요.” 임금이 말했다. “디스베 사람 엘리야로군요, 그는!”	And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
9	아하시야가 엘리야에게 오십명대장을 그의 부하 50명과 함께 보냈다. 오십명대장은 그에게로 올라갔다. 저기, 엘리야가 산꼭대기에 앉아 있는 것이 아닌가! 오십명대장이 그에게 말을 걸었다. “하나님의 사람이신 예언자님, 임금님이 말씀하셨습니다, 내려오시라고요!”	Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.
10	엘리야가 오십명대장에게 대답하여 말했다. “대장이 말하는 하나님의 사람이 나라면, 불이 하늘에서 내려와 대장을 대장의 부하 50명과 함께 삼켜 버릴 것이오.” 그러자 불이 하늘에서 내려와 그를 그의 부하 50명과 함께 삼켜 버렸다.	And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
11	아하시야가 다시 엘리야에게 다른 오십명대장을 그의 부하 50명과 함께 보냈다. 오십명대장이 그에게 말을 꺼냈다. “하나님의 사람이신 예언자님, 임금님이 말씀하셨습니다, 서둘러 내려오시라고요!”	Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.
12	엘리야가 그들에게 대답하여 말했다. “대장이 말하는 하나님의 사람이 나라면, 불이 하늘에서 내려와 대장을 대장의 부하 50명과 함께 삼켜 버릴 것이오.” 그러자 하나님의 불이 하늘에서 내려와 그를 그의 부하 50명과 함께 삼켜 버렸다.	And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
13	아하시야가 다시 오십명대장을 세 번째로 그의 부하 50명과 함께 보냈다. 세 번째 오십명대장이 올라갔다. 그러고는 다가가서 엘리야 앞에 무릎을 꿇었다. 자신을 불쌍히 여겨 달라고 그에게 빌고는 그에게 말했다. “하나님의 사람이신 예언자님, 나의 목숨과 나의 이 부하 50명의 목숨이 예언자님의 눈에 꼭 좀 소중하게 보이기 바랍니다.	And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.
14	여기, 불이 하늘에서 내려오지 않았습니까? 그러고는 앞서 왔던 두 사람의 오십명대장을 각각 그들의 부하 50명과 함께 삼켜 버리지 않았습니까? 이제는 나의 목숨이 예언자님의 눈에 진귀하게 보이기 바랍니다.”	Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight.
15	여호와의 천사가 엘리야에게 말했다. “그와 함께 내려가세요. 그를 두려워하지 마세요.” 엘리야가 일어나 그와 함께 임금에게로 내려갔다.	And the angel of the Lord said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.
16	엘리야가 임금에게 말했다. “여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. ‘너는 심부름꾼들을 보내어 에그론의 신 바알세붑한테 물어보려고 했다. 너의 일을 두고서 물어볼 하나님이 이스라엘에는 없기라도 하다는 말이냐? 이러므로 너는 네가 올라간 침대, 거기서 내려오지 못할 것이다. 너는 반드시 죽을 것이다.’”	And he said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baal–zebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
17	임금이 죽었다. 엘리야가 전해 준 여호와의 말씀대로였다. 요람이 그를 이어 임금이 되었다. 여호사밧의 아들인 유다 임금 여호람 둘째 해였다. 아하시야에게는 아들이 없었던 것이다.	So he died according to the word of the Lord which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.
18	아하시야가 했던 나머지 일들, 그것들은 이스라엘 임금들의 역사일지에 적혀 있지 않은가?	Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
