1	요시야가 다스리다 요시야가 임금이 되었을 때 8세였다. 31년 동안 예루살렘에서 다스렸다.	Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years.
2	그는 여호와께서 보시기에 올곧은 일을 했다. 자기 조상 다윗의 길로 걸었고, 오른쪽이나 왼쪽으로 벗어나지 않았다.	And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.
3	요시야가 우상을 없애다 그가 다스린 지 8년 되던 때였다. 그는 아직 어렸는데도 자기 조상 다윗의 하나님을 찾기 시작했다. 12년째 되는 해에는 유다와 예루살렘에서 높은곳(산당)들과 아세라 말뚝들, 새겨 만든 우상들, 부어 만든 우상들을 말끔히 치우기 시작했다.	For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
4	사람들은 그가 보는 앞에서 바알의 제단들을 무너뜨리고 그 위에 있는 향사르는제단(분향단)들을 조각냈다. 아세라 말뚝들, 새겨 만든 우상들, 부어 만든 우상들은 깨뜨리고 빻아서 그것들에게 제물을 바쳤던 사람들의 무덤 앞에 뿌렸다.	And they brake down the altars of Baalim in his presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strowed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.
5	제사장들의 뼈를 그들의 제단 위에 태워서 유다와 예루살렘을 말끔히 치웠다.	And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem.
6	므낫세와 에브라임과 시므온을 지나 납달리에 이르기까지 여기저기 허물어져 있는 도시들이 있었다.	And so did he in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about.
7	거기에서 그는 제단들을 무너뜨리고 아세라 말뚝들과 우상들을 으스러뜨려서 빻았다. 향사르는제단(분향단)들을 이스라엘 온 땅에서 조각냈다. 그러고 나서 그는 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다. ()	And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.
8	성전을 고치다가 율법책을 찾다 그가 다스린 지 18년째 되는 해였다. 그 땅과 그 집을 말끔히 치운 다음이었다. 아살랴의 아들 사반과 도시의 책임자 마아세야와 요아하스의 아들 요아흐 기록담당관을 보내어, 여호와 그의 하나님의 집을 고쳐 세우게 했다.	Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the Lord his God.
9	그들은 힐기야 대제사장에게 가서 하나님의 집에 들어온 은을 건네주었다. 문을 지키는 레위 사람들이 므낫세와 에브라임에서 모은 은이었다. 또 이스라엘의 남은 사람들과 온 유다와 베냐민에서, 그리고 예루살렘에 사는 사람들에게서 모은 은이었다.	And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.
10	그들은 그 은을 여호와의 집을 맡아서 일하는 사람들의 손에 넘겨주었다. 그러자 그들이 그것을 여호와의 집에서 일하는 일꾼들에게 주어 집을 고치고 튼튼하게 하도록 했다.	And they put it in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of the Lord, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the house of the Lord, to repair and amend the house:
11	목수들과 건축 노동자들에게도 주어 막 캐낸 돌과 도리를 만들 나무를 사게 했다. 아울러 유다 임금들이 망가뜨린 집들에 들보를 얹게 했다.	Even to the artificers and builders gave they it, to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
12	사람들은 참된 마음으로 일을 하고 있었다. 그들 위에 책임을 맡아 감독하는 사람들로는 야핫과 오바댜가 있었는데 레위 사람으로 므라리 사람들이었다. 또 스가랴와 므술람이 있었는데 그핫 사람들이었다. 이 레위 사람들은 모두 악기를 잘 다루는 사람들이었다.	And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and other of the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of musick.
13	그들은 짐꾼들을 맡았고 갖가지 일을 하는 일꾼들을 모두 감독하고 있었다. 또 레위 사람 가운데 몇이 서기관과 행정관과 문지기 일을 했다.	Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and were overseers of all that wrought the work in any manner of service: and of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and porters.
14	여호와의 집으로 들어온 은을 꺼낼 때에 힐기야 제사장이 모세를 통해 주신 여호와의 율법책을 찾았다.	And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the Lord, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the Lord given by Moses.
15	힐기야가 사반 서기관에게 말했다. “여호와의 집에서 율법책을 찾았네.” 힐기야는 그 책을 사반에게 주었다.	And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.
16	사반은 그 책을 임금에게 가지고 와서 다시 임금에게 알렸다. “임금님의 신하들은 모두 맡겨진 일을 하고 있었습니다.	And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do it.
17	그들은 여호와의 집에 있는 은을 쏟았습니다. 그것을 책임 맡은 사람들의 손과 일꾼들의 손에 넘겨주었습니다.”	And they have gathered together the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen.
18	사반 서기관은 임금에게 덧붙여 이야기했다. “힐기야 제사장이 저에게 책 한 권을 주었습니다.” 그러면서 사반은 임금 앞에서 그 책을 읽었다.	Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath given me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
19	임금은 율법의 말씀을 듣고, 입고 있던 옷을 찢었다.	And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.
20	임금은 힐기야, 사반의 아들 아히감, 미가의 아들 압돈, 사반 서기관, 임금의 종 아사야에게 명령했다.	And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king’s, saying,
21	“가서, 찾은 책의 말씀을 두고서 여호와께 여쭈어보시오. 나와 이스라엘과 유다의 남은 사람들을 위해서요. 우리에게 쏟아진 여호와의 노여움이 크오. 이 책에 적혀 있는 그대로 살라고 하신 여호와의 말씀을 우리 조상들이 지키지 않았기 때문이오.”	Go, enquire of the Lord for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the Lord, to do after all that is written in this book.
22	힐기야가 임금 쪽 사람들과 함께 살룸의 아내 훌다 예언자에게 갔다. 살룸은 독핫의 아들이자 하스라의 손자로 옷을 지키는 사람이었다. 훌다는 예루살렘 2구역에 살고 있었다. 그들이 그에게 가서 이런 이야기를 했다.	And Hilkiah, and they that the king had appointed, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college:) and they spake to her to that effect.
23	그러자 그가 그들에게 말했다. “여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. 여러분을 나에게 보낸 사람에게 말씀하십시오.	And she answered them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Tell ye the man that sent you to me,
24	여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. ‘보라, 내가 이곳과 여기 사는 사람들에게 나쁜 일을 불러올 것이다. 유다 임금 앞에서 읽은 책에 적혀 있는 모든 저주 그대로이다.	Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:
25	그들이 나를 버리고 다른 신들에게 향을 피워 바쳤기 때문이다. 그렇게 그들 손으로 하는 모든 일로 나의 화를 돋우었다. 그러므로 나의 노여움이 이곳에 쏟아져 사그라들지 않을 것이다.’라고요.	Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.
26	유다 임금이 여러분을 나에게 보내서 여호와께 묻고 있지요. 그에게 이렇게 말씀하세요. 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. ‘네가 들은 말을 두고 말한다.	And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to enquire of the Lord, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel concerning the words which thou hast heard;
27	네가 듣고는 너의 마음이 찔려 하나님 앞에 자기를 낮추었다. 그 말은 이곳과 여기 사는 사람들을 두고 한 것이었다. 너는 나의 앞에서 스스로를 낮추었다. 나의 앞에서 너의 옷을 찢고 울었다. 그래서 나도 들었다.’ 여호와의 말씀입니다.	Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the Lord.
28	‘보라, 내가 너를 너의 조상들에게 데려갈 때 너는 평화롭게 너의 무덤에 들어갈 것이다. 내가 이곳과 여기 사는 사람들에게 가져올 온갖 나쁜 일을 너의 눈으로는 볼 수 없을 것이다.’” 그들은 임금에게 말을 전해 주었다. ()	Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.
29	언약을 따르기로 하다 임금이 사람을 보내어 유다와 예루살렘의 원로들을 불러 모았다.	Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
30	임금이 여호와의 집에 올라갈 때 유다 사람 모두와 예루살렘 주민이 그와 함께했다. 제사장들, 레위 사람들, 어른부터 어린아이까지 온 백성이 함께했다. 임금은 그들이 듣는 데서, 여호와의 집에서 찾은 언약의 책에 있는 모든 말씀을 읽었다.	And the king went up into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the Lord.
31	임금은 자기 자리에 서서 여호와 앞에서 언약을 맺었다. 여호와를 따라 걸으며 그분의 명령과 그분의 증언과 그분의 규정을 자신의 마음과 자신의 목숨을 다해 지키겠다는 것이었다. 그래서 이 책에 적혀 있는 언약의 말씀을 따르겠다는 것이었다.	And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.
32	그는 예루살렘과 베냐민에 있는 사람들이 모두 함께하게 했다. 예루살렘에 사는 사람들은 하나님, 그들의 조상들의 하나님과 맺은 언약을 따랐다.	And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
33	요시야는 이스라엘 사람들한테 있는 모든 땅에서 그 모든 역겨운 것들을 치워 버렸다. 그리고 이스라엘에 있는 사람들 모두에게 여호와 그들의 하나님을 섬기게 했다. 그가 살아 있는 동안 늘 사람들이 여호와 그들의 조상들의 하나님을 따르는 일에서 벗어나지 않았다.	And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve the Lord their God. And all his days they departed not from following the Lord, the God of their fathers.
