1	아하시야가 다스리다 예루살렘에 사는 사람들이 여호람을 대신하여 그의 막내아들 아하시야를 임금으로 세웠다. 아라비아 사람들과 함께 진영에 들이닥쳤던 부대가 손위 형들을 모두 죽였기 때문이었다. 그래서 유다 임금 여호람의 아들 아하시야가 임금이 되었다.	And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his stead: for the band of men that came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the eldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.
2	아하시야가 임금이 되었을 때 42세였다. 1년 동안 예루살렘에서 임금으로 다스렸다. 그의 어머니 이름은 아달랴이고 오므리 집안의 딸이었다.	Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.
3	아하시야도 또한 아합 집안의 길로 걸었다. 그의 어머니가 그의 조언자가 되어 그가 나쁜 일을 하게 했던 것이다.	He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab: for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly.
4	그는 아합 집안처럼 여호와께서 보시기에 나쁜 짓을 저질렀다. 그의 아버지가 죽은 뒤에 아합 집안의 사람들이 그의 조언자가 되어 그를 망쳐 놓았기 때문이다.	Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the Lord like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellors after the death of his father to his destruction.
5	그는 또한 그들의 조언을 따라 걸으며, 이스라엘 임금 아합의 아들 요람과 함께 전쟁에 나아갔다. 시리아 임금 하사엘에게 맞서 길르앗의 라못에서 전투를 벌이려 한 것이다. 그런데 시리아 사람들이 요람을 쳤다.	He walked also after their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth–gilead: and the Syrians smote Joram.
6	그는 치료를 하려고 이스르엘로 돌아왔다. 시리아 임금 하사엘과 전투할 때 라마에서 맞아 다친 것 때문이었다. 그때 유다 임금 여호람의 아들 아사랴가 아합의 아들 요람을 보러 이스르엘에 내려왔다. 그가 앓아누워 있었기 때문이다.	And he returned to be healed in Jezreel because of the wounds which were given him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And Azariah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab at Jezreel, because he was sick.
7	아하시야가 요람에게 갔다가 몰락하게 된 것은 하나님으로부터 비롯되었다. 그곳에 갔을 때 그는 요람과 함께 님시의 아들 예후를 만나러 갔다. 예후는 여호와께서 아합 집안을 끊어 버리시려고 기름부어 세우신 사람이었다.	And the destruction of Ahaziah was of God by coming to Joram: for when he was come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.
8	예후가 아합 집안을 두고 판결을 내릴 때 일이다. 그는 유다의 지도자들과 아하시야의 조카들 곧 아하시야를 섬기던 이들을 만나서 죽여 버렸다.	And it came to pass, that, when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Judah, and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah, that ministered to Ahaziah, he slew them.
9	예후가 아하시야도 찾으려 하여, 사람들이 사마리아에 숨어 있던 그를 붙잡았다. 그들은 그를 예후에게 데려가 죽인 다음에 장례를 치렀다. 그러면서 말했다. “그는 여호와를 온 마음으로 찾았던 여호사밧의 자손이지.” 이제 아하시야 집안에는 나라를 다스릴 힘을 가진 사람이 없었다. ()	And he sought Ahaziah: and they caught him, (for he was hid in Samaria,) and brought him to Jehu: and when they had slain him, they buried him: Because, said they, he is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the Lord with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah had no power to keep still the kingdom.
10	아달랴가 다스리다 아하시야의 어머니 아달랴는 자기 아들이 죽었다는 사실을 알았다. 그러자 바로 일을 벌여 유다 임금 집안의 후손을 모두 없애 버렸다.	But when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal of the house of Judah.
11	임금의 딸 여호사브앗은 왕자들이 죽어 나가는 가운데 아하시야의 아들 요아스를 데려다가 빼돌렸다. 아이를 유모와 함께 침실에 두었다. 여호람 임금의 딸이며 여호야다 제사장의 아내인 여호사브앗은 아이를 숨겨 주었다. 이 여자는 아하시야의 동생이었기 때문이다. 그렇게 그들은 아달랴에게서 아이를 숨겨 죽이지 못하게 했다.	But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons that were slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedchamber. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest, (for she was the sister of Ahaziah,) hid him from Athaliah, so that she slew him not.
12	아이가 그들과 함께 하나님의 집에 숨어 있는 6년 동안 아달랴가 나라를 다스리고 있었다.	And he was with them hid in the house of God six years: and Athaliah reigned over the land.
