1	아사가 벤하닷의 도움을 받다 아사가 다스린 지 36년째 되는 해에 이스라엘 임금 바아사가 유다를 치러 올라와서는 라마를 다시 세웠다. 유다 임금 아사에게 사람들이 드나들지 못하게 하려는 것이었다.	In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, to the intent that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
2	아사는 여호와의 집과 왕궁의 보물 창고에서 은과 금을 꺼내서 다마스쿠스에 살고 있는 시리아 임금 벤하닷에게 보냈다. 그러면서 말했다.	Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the Lord and of the king’s house, and sent to Ben–hadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
3	“나하고 임금님 사이에, 나의 아버지하고 임금님의 아버지 사이에 맺었던 약속이 있습니다. 보십시오, 나는 임금님께 은과 금을 보냅니다. 자, 그러니 임금님이 이스라엘 임금 바아사와 맺었던 약속을 깨뜨리십시오. 그가 나에게서 떠나 올라가게 해 주십시오.”	There is a league between me and thee, as there was between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
4	벤하닷이 아사 임금의 말을 듣고 자기 군대 지휘관들을 이스라엘의 몇몇 도시로 보냈다. 그들은 이욘, 단, 아벨마임, 납달리의 모든 창고 도시들을 쳤다.	And Ben–hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel–maim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.
5	바아사가 소식을 듣고 라마를 다시 세우던 일을 그만두었다. 그가 하던 일을 멈춘 것이다.	And it came to pass, when Baasha heard it, that he left off building of Ramah, and let his work cease.
6	아사 임금은 온 유다 사람들을 데려왔다. 그들은 바아사가 공사에 쓰던 라마의 돌과 나무를 가져왔다. 그는 그것을 가지고 게바와 미스바를 다시 세웠다.	Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha was building; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.
7	하나니가 아사를 꾸짖다 그때에 하나니 예견자가 유다 임금 아사에게 와서 그에게 말했다. “임금님은 시리아 임금에게 기대면서 여호와 임금님의 하나님께 기대지 않으셨습니다. 따라서 시리아 임금의 군대가 임금님의 손에서 벗어나게 되었습니다.	And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the Lord thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand.
8	에티오피아 사람들과 리비아 사람들이 큰 군대를 이루지 않았습니까? 전투수레와 기마병이 어마어마했지요. 그렇지만 임금님이 여호와께 기대었기 때문에 그들을 임금님의 손에 넘기신 겁니다.	Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the Lord, he delivered them into thine hand.
9	여호와 그분의 눈은 온 땅을 두루 살피시고 그분을 온전한 마음으로 바라는 사람들을 굳세게 하시거든요. 이번 일은 어리석으셨습니다. 이제부터 임금님은 전쟁을 치르시게 됩니다.”	For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
10	아사는 예견자에게 화가 나서 그를 형틀에 묶어 감옥에 넣었다. 이 말 때문에 예견자에게 분노했던 것이다. 그때에 아사는 백성들도 짓눌렀다. ()	Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.
11	아사가 죽다 보라, 아사의 일은 처음부터 끝까지 유다와 이스라엘 임금들의 기록에 적혀 있다.	And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
12	아사가 다스린 지 39년째 되는 해에 발에 병이 났는데 그 병이 아주 깊어졌다. 그렇게 병이 났는데도 그는 여호와가 아니라 오히려 의사를 찾았다.	And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians.
13	아사가 자기 조상들과 함께 누웠다. 그가 다스린 지 41년째 되는 해에 죽은 것이다.	And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.
14	사람들이 그를 무덤에 묻었다. 그가 스스로를 위해 다윗의 도시에 파 놓은 무덤이었다. 사람들이 그를 자리에 눕혔다. 향 섞는 기술로 만든 갖가지 향료로 가득 채운 자리였다. 그러고는 그를 기리며 엄청나게 큰 불을 피웠다.	And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and divers kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries’ art: and they made a very great burning for him.
