1	아사랴는 오뎃의 아들인데 그에게 하나님의 영이 내려왔다.	And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:
2	그가 아사 앞으로 나아와 이렇게 말했다. “내가 하는 말을 들으십시오. 아사, 그리고 온 유다와 베냐민 사람들도요! 여러분이 여호와와 함께할 때 그분은 여러분과 함께하십니다. 여러분이 그분을 찾으면 그분은 여러분을 만나 주십니다. 그러나 여러분이 그분을 떠나면 그분도 여러분을 떠나십니다.	And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
3	오랜 날 동안 이스라엘에는 참하나님이 없었습니다. 가르치는 제사장도 없었고 가르침도 없었습니다.	Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.
4	그러나 이스라엘은 어려운 일이 닥치면 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께로 돌아왔습니다. 그래서 그분을 찾으면 그분이 그들을 만나 주셨습니다.	But when they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.
5	그때에는 드나드는 사람들이 마음 놓고 다니지 못했습니다. 땅에 사는 모든 사람에게 큰 혼란이 있었던 것입니다.	And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.
6	나라와 나라가, 도시와 도시가 부딪쳐 깨졌지요. 하나님이 온갖 어려운 일로 그들을 혼란에 빠뜨리셨던 것입니다.	And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.
7	그러나 여러분은 마음 단단히 먹으세요. 손 놓고 있지 마세요. 여러분이 일한 대로 품삯을 받을 것이니까요.”	Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.
8	아사는 이런 말들, 곧 오뎃 예언자의 예언을 듣고 기운이 솟았다. 그래서 밉살스러운 우상들을 유다와 베냐민 온 땅에서 치워 버렸다. 에브라임 산지에서 차지한 도시들에서도 그렇게 했다. 그리고 여호와의 집 현관 앞에 있는 여호와의 제단을 새로 고쳤다.	And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the Lord, that was before the porch of the Lord.
9	그는 유다와 베냐민 모두를 모았다. 에브라임과 므낫세와 시므온으로부터 와서 그들과 함께 살던 이주민들도 모았다. 여호와 그의 하나님이 그와 함께 계신 것을 보고 많은 사람이 이스라엘을 떠나 그에게로 몰려들었던 것이다.	And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.
10	그들은 아사가 다스린 지 15년째 되는 해 셋째 달에 예루살렘에서 모였다.	So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
11	빼앗아 가져온 것으로 그날 희생제물을 여호와께 바쳤다. 소 700마리와 양 7,000마리였다.	And they offered unto the Lord the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.
12	그리고 여호와 그들의 조상들의 하나님을 온 마음과 온 정성을 다해 찾기로 언약했다.	And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
13	여호와 이스라엘의 하나님을 찾지 않는 사람은 누구든지 죽음의 벌을 받기로 한 것이다. 작은 사람이든 큰 사람이든 남자든 여자든 가리지 않았다.	That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
14	목소리 높여 소리 지르며 트럼펫과 뿔나팔을 불면서 여호와께 맹세했다.	And they sware unto the Lord with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.
15	온 유다가 그렇게 다짐하며 기뻐했다. 그들이 마음을 다해 맹세하고 뜻을 다해 그분을 찾으니 그분이 만나 주셨기 때문이다. 여호와께서 그들을 사방 어디로부터든 전쟁 없이 편히 쉬게 해 주셨기 때문이다.	And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about.
16	또한 아사 임금은 자기의 할머니 마아가를 대왕대비 자리에서 쫓아냈다. 마아가가 아세라에게 바치는 끔찍한 우상을 만들었기 때문이다. 아사는 그가 만든 끔찍한 우상을 깨뜨리고 빻아 기드론 마른시내에서 불살랐다.	And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
17	높은곳(산당)들은 이스라엘에서 사라지지 않았다. 그래도 아사의 마음은 살아 있는 동안 늘 한결같았다.	But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.
18	그는 자기 아버지가 따로 떼어 둔 것과 자기가 따로 떼어 둔 것을 하나님의 집에 가져왔다. 은과 금과 그릇들이었다.	And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
19	아사가 임금으로 다스린 지 35년째 되는 해까지 전쟁이 없었다.	And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
