1	예루살렘에서 다윗의 가족이 늘어나다 티레 임금 히람이 다윗에게 심부름꾼들을 보냈다. 아울러 삼나무(백향목)와 담장 다듬는 사람들과 나무 다듬는 사람들을 보냈다. 다윗을 위해 왕궁을 지어 주기 위해서였다.	Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.
2	다윗은 여호와께서 자기를 이스라엘 임금으로 세우셨다는 것을 깨달았다. 여호와의 백성 이스라엘 때문에 자기의 왕국을 높이 올려 주셨다는 것도 깨달았다.	And David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
3	다윗은 예루살렘에서 아내들을 더 맞아들였다. 그래서 다윗은 아들딸을 더 낳았다.	And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.
4	예루살렘에서 그에게 태어난 아들들의 이름은 이러하다. 삼무아, 소밥, 나단, 솔로몬,	Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
5	입할, 엘리수아, 엘벨렛,	And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
6	노가흐, 네벡, 야비아,	And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
7	엘리사마, 브엘랴다, 엘리벨렛이다. ()	And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.
8	다윗이 필리스티아를 무찌르다 필리스티아 사람들이 소식을 들었다. 다윗이 기름부음을 받고 온 이스라엘의 임금이 되었다는 것이었다. 필리스티아 사람들이 모두 다윗을 찾아 올라왔다. 다윗이 듣고 그들 앞으로 나아갔다.	And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.
9	필리스티아 사람들이 와서 라바 사람들의 골짜기를 덮쳤다.	And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
10	다윗이 하나님께 여쭈었다. “필리스티아 사람들을 치러 올라갈까요? 그들을 제 손에 넘겨주시겠습니까?” 여호와께서 그에게 대답하셨다. “올라가라. 내가 그들을 너의 손에 넘겨주마.”	And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.
11	그들이 바알브라심으로 올라갔다. 거기서 다윗이 그들을 물리쳤다. 다윗이 말했다. “하나님이 나의 원수들을 나의 손을 빌려 뚫고 나가셨다, 물이 뚫고 흘러 나가듯이!” 이런 까닭으로 사람들이 그곳의 이름을 바알브라심이라고 지어 불렀다.	So they came up to Baal–perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baal–perazim.
12	그들은 거기서 그들의 신들을 버렸다. 다윗이 말하자 사람들이 그것들을 불태웠다.	And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
13	필리스티아 사람들이 다시 그 골짜기를 덮쳤다.	And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.
14	다윗이 다시 하나님께 여쭈었다. 그에게 하나님이 대답하셨다. “그들을 뒤쫓아 올라가지 마라. 그들한테서 떨어져 돌아 들어가라. 바카나무들 맞은편에서 그들에게 들이닥쳐라.	Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
15	바카나무들 꼭대기에서 걸음 소리가 들릴 것이다. 그때 나가서 전투를 벌이도록 해라. 하나님이 너의 앞에서 나가서 필리스티아 진영을 칠 것이다.”	And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
16	다윗은 하나님이 명령하신 대로 했다. 그래서 그들은 필리스티아 사람들의 진영을 기브온에서부터 게셀에 이르기까지 무찔렀다.	David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.
17	다윗의 이름이 모든 지역에 알려졌다. 여호와께서 모든 민족이 그를 무서워하게 하셨던 것이다.	And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.
