1	하나님의 상자를 다윗의 도시로 모셔 들이려 하다 다윗은 천명대장들과 백명대장들을 비롯한 모든 장교들과 서로 의견을 주고받았다.	And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.
2	그리고 다윗은 이스라엘 온 무리에게 이렇게 말했다. “여러분이 좋게 여기고 여호와 우리 하나님의 뜻이라면, 이스라엘 모든 지역에 남아 있는 우리 친족들에게로 사람들을 흩어 보냅시다. 그들뿐만 아니라 목초지가 딸린 도시들에 사는 제사장들과 레위 사람들에게로도 보냅시다. 그래서 그들이 모여 우리에게 오도록 합시다.	And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the Lord our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:
3	우리 하나님의 상자(궤)를 우리에게 되돌아오게 해야 합니다. 사울의 때에는 우리가 그 상자(궤)를 찾지도 않았습니다.”	And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.
4	온 무리도 그렇게 하자고 말했다. 온 백성의 눈에 이 일이 옳게 보였기 때문이다.	And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
5	다윗은 이집트 시홀에서부터 하맛 길목에 이르기까지 이스라엘 전부를 불러 모았다. 하나님의 상자(궤)를 기럇여아림에서 모셔 오려는 것이었다.	So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjath–jearim.
6	다윗은 온 이스라엘을 거느리고 바알라 곧 유다의 기럇여아림으로 올라갔다. 거기에서부터 크룹들 위에 앉아 계신 여호와 하나님의 상자(궤)를 모시고 올라오려는 것이었다. 사람들이 하나님의 이름을 붙여 부르는 상자(궤)였다.	And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjath–jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the Lord, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.
7	그들은 하나님의 상자(궤)를 새 수레 위에 싣고 아비나답의 집에서 나갔다. 웃사와 아효가 그 수레를 몰았다.	And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.
8	다윗과 온 이스라엘은 하나님 앞에서 온 힘을 다해 춤추며 뛰놀았다. 노래도 부르고 기타, 하프, 작은북, 심벌즈, 트럼펫도 연주했다.	And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
9	그들이 기돈 타작마당까지 왔을 때였다. 그때 웃사가 손을 뻗어 그 상자(궤)를 붙잡았다. 소들이 비틀거렸기 때문이었다.	And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
10	여호와께서 웃사를 향한 노여움으로 불타오르셔서 그를 치셨다. 그가 그 상자(궤) 위로 손을 뻗었기 때문이다. 그는 거기서 죽었다. 하나님 앞에서였다.	And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.
11	다윗은 화를 냈다. 여호와께서 웃사를 잡아 찢으셨기 때문이다. 그래서 사람들은 그곳을 베레스웃사라고 불렀다. 오늘까지 그렇다.	And David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perez–uzza to this day.
12	다윗은 그날 하나님을 두려워하며 말했다. “어떻게 나에게로 모셔 올 수 있겠는가, 하나님의 상자(궤)를?”	And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?
13	다윗은 상자(궤)를 자신이 있는 다윗의 도시로 모셔 가지 않았다. 그래서 가드 사람 오베데돔의 집으로 옮겨 모셔다 두었다.	So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed–edom the Gittite.
14	하나님의 상자(궤)는 오베데돔의 집, 그의 집에서 석 달 동안 있었다. 여호와께서 오베데돔의 집안과 그에게 딸린 모든 것에 복을 내려 주셨다.	And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed–edom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obed–edom, and all that he had.
