1	요르단강 서쪽에서 나눈 땅 이스라엘 사람들이 가나안 땅에서 나누어 받은 땅은 이러하다. 엘르아살 제사장, 눈의 아들 여호수아, 이스라엘 사람들의 지파의 아버지 쪽 어른들이 나누어 준 땅이다.	And these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them.
2	아홉 지파와 므낫세 지파 절반이 저마다 나누어 받을 땅은 제비를 뽑아 정했다. 여호와께서 모세를 통해 명령하신 대로 한 것이다.	By lot was their inheritance, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe.
3	두 지파와 므낫세 지파의 다른 절반이 나누어 받을 땅은 모세가 요르단강 건너편에서 정해 주었다. 이스라엘 가운데서 레위 사람들에게는 땅을 나누어 주지 않았다.	For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half tribe on the other side Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none inheritance among them.
4	요셉의 자손은 므낫세와 에브라임 두 지파가 되었다. 레위 사람들에게는 땅을 한 몫도 주지 않았다. 그들이 머물 도시와, 그 도시 가까운 데서 짐승을 먹이고 가진 것을 두도록 목초지만 주었다.	For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
5	이스라엘 사람들은 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 하여 땅을 나누었다.	As the Lord commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.
6	갈렙이 헤브론을 차지하다 유다 사람들이 길갈에 있는 여호수아를 찾아갔을 때, 여분네의 아들인 그나스 사람 갈렙이 여호수아에게 말했다. “여호와께서 가데스바르네아에서 나와 자네를 두고서 하나님의 사람 모세 어른에게 하신 말씀을 자네도 알고 있을 걸세.	Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the Lord said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadesh–barnea.
7	내가 40세 때 여호와의 종 모세 어른이 가데스바르네아에서 나를 보내어 이 땅을 다니며 살펴보고 오게 하셨지. 나는 돌아와서 내 마음에 있는 대로 어른에게 보고드렸네.	Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh–barnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.
8	나와 함께 올라간 형제들은 백성의 마음을 졸아들게 했지만, 나는 있는 힘을 다해 여호와 나의 하나님을 따랐다네.	Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the Lord my God.
9	그날 모세 어른이 맹세해 주셨지. ‘자네의 발로 밟는 땅은 영영 자네와 자네의 자손이 나누어 받는 땅이 될 걸세. 자네가 있는 힘을 다해 여호와 나의 하나님을 따랐기 때문일세.’ 하고 말이네.	And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.
10	이제까지, 보시게, 여호와께서 나를 살려 두셨네. 그렇게 하시겠다고 말씀하신 대로일세. 이스라엘 백성이 광야를 걷던 때에 여호와께서 이 말씀을 모세 어른에게 하신 그때로부터 45년이 흘렀네. 이제, 보시게, 오늘 내가 85세일세.	And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the Lord spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11	모세 어른이 나를 보내신 때처럼 오늘도 나는 여전히 튼튼하다네. 그때처럼 지금도 나에게 힘이 있어서, 전쟁에 나갔다 돌아올 만해.	As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
12	이제 여호와께서 그날 말씀하셨던 이 산을 나에게 주게! 그때 자네도 들었네. 거기에 아낙 사람들이 있고, 그 여러 도시가 크고 튼튼하다고 했지. 여호와께서 나와 함께하실 것이므로, 내가 그들을 몰아낼 수 있을 걸세. 여호와께서 말씀하신 대로 될 걸세.”	Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said.
13	여호수아가 그를 축복하고, 헤브론을 여분네의 아들 갈렙에게 나누어 받을 땅으로 주었다.	And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.
14	그리하여 오늘까지 헤브론이, 여분네의 아들인 그나스 사람 갈렙이 나누어 받은 땅이 되었다. 그가 있는 힘을 다해 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님을 따랐기 때문이다.	Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel.
15	이전에는 헤브론의 이름이 기랴다르바였다. 아르바는 아낙 사람들 중에서 가장 큰 사람이었다. 전쟁이 그치고 그 땅에 평화가 깃들었다.	And the name of Hebron before was Kirjath–arba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.
