1	하솔과 함께 몰려온 군대들을 물리치다 하솔 임금 야빈이 소식을 듣고, 마돈 임금 요밥, 시므론 임금, 악삽 임금에게 사람을 보냈다.	And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,
2	북쪽 산지와 긴네렛 남쪽 아라바, 세펠라, 서쪽 도르 고지대에 있는 임금들에게도 보냈다.	And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,
3	동쪽과 서쪽의 가나안 사람들, 아모리 사람들, 히타이트 사람들, 브리스 사람들, 산지의 여부스 사람들, 미스바 땅 헤르몬 아래의 히위 사람들에게도 보냈다.	And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.
4	그들이 저마다 군대를 거느리고 나왔다. 군인의 수가 바닷가 모래처럼 많아서 큰 군대를 이루었다. 말과 전투수레도 매우 많았다.	And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.
5	이 임금들이 다 모여 메롬 물가로 와서 같이 진을 치고 이스라엘과 싸우려고 했다.	And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.
6	여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. “그들을 두려워하지 마라. 내일 이맘때에 내가 이스라엘 앞에서 그들이 모두 맞아 죽게 해 줄 것이다. 너희는 그들의 말 다리 뒤쪽 힘줄을 끊고 전투수레를 불태우도록 해라.”	And the Lord said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.
7	여호수아가 온 군대를 거느리고 메롬 물가에서 기습적으로 그들에게 들이닥쳤다.	So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them.
8	여호와께서 그들을 이스라엘의 손에 넘겨주셨다. 이스라엘은 큰 시돈과 미스르봇마임과 동쪽의 미스바 골짜기까지 뒤쫓아 가서 그들을 쳐부수었다. 마침내 한 사람도 살려 두지 않았다.	And the Lord delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephoth–maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.
9	여호수아는 그들에게 여호와께서 자기에게 말씀하신 대로 했다. 그들의 말 다리 뒤쪽 힘줄을 끊고 전투수레를 불태워 버린 것이다.	And Joshua did unto them as the Lord bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.
10	그때 여호수아는 돌아오는 길에 하솔을 빼앗고 하솔 임금을 칼로 쳐 죽였다. 하솔이 이전에는 이 모든 왕국 가운데서 으뜸가는 왕국이었다.	And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.
11	이스라엘 군대는 하솔 안에 있던 모든 사람들을 날카로운 칼로 쳐 완전히 없애 버렸다. 숨 쉬는 것은 하나도 남아 있지 않았다. 하솔을 불태웠다.	And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.
12	여호수아는 이 임금들의 도시들을 다 빼앗고, 그 임금들을 모두 사로잡아 날카로운 칼로 쳐 완전히 없애 버렸다. 여호와의 종 모세가 명령한 대로였다.	And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the Lord commanded.
13	다만 폐허 언덕 위에 서 있는 도시는 이스라엘이 하나도 불태우지 않았다. 하솔만 여호수아가 불태웠다.	But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.
14	이스라엘 사람들은 이 여러 도시에서 빼앗은 물건과 집짐승을 모조리 자기들에게 돌렸다. 다만 사람은 날카로운 칼로 다 쳐 죽여, 숨 쉬는 것은 결국 하나도 남겨 두지 않았다.	And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.
15	여호와께서 그분의 종 모세에게 명령하신 대로, 모세는 여호수아에게 그대로 명령했다. 여호수아는 그대로 했다. 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 것 가운데서 하나도 빠뜨리지 않았다.	As the Lord commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.
16	가나안 땅을 빼앗아 나누다 여호수아가 이 온 땅을 빼앗았다. 곧 산지와 네게브 전역, 고센 땅 전역, 세펠라와 아라바, 이스라엘의 산지와 그 구릉지였다.	So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
17	세일로 올라가는 할락산에서부터 헤르몬산 아래 레바논 골짜기에 있는 바알갓까지 이르는 땅을 빼앗았다. 또 그 지역의 모든 임금을 사로잡아서 쳐 죽였다.	Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baal–gad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.
18	오랫동안 여호수아가 이 모든 임금과 전쟁을 벌였다.	Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.
19	기브온에 살고 있던 히위 사람들 말고는 이스라엘 사람들과 평화롭게 지내기로 한 도시는 없었다. 다른 도시는 모두 이스라엘이 전쟁을 벌여 빼앗았다.	There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.
20	여호와께서 그들의 마음을 닫아 버리셔서, 그들이 이스라엘과 전쟁을 벌이게 하셨다. 그리하여 그들을 완전히 없애 버리게 하셨다. 그들을 불쌍하게 여기지 않고 뿌리 뽑게 하셨다. 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로였다.	For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the Lord commanded Moses.
21	그때 여호수아가 가서 산지와 헤브론과 드빌과 아납과 유다의 온 산지와 이스라엘의 온 산지에서부터 아낙 사람들을 뿌리 뽑아 버렸다. 여호수아가 그들의 도시들과 함께 그들을 완전히 없애 버렸다.	And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.
22	아낙 사람들이 이스라엘 사람들의 땅에는 한 사람도 남지 않았다. 다만 가자와 가드와 아스돗에는 남아 있었다.	There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.
23	여호수아가 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하신 대로 온 땅을 빼앗아서, 이스라엘에게 지파별로 저마다의 몫에 따라 나누어 주었다. 전쟁이 그치고 그 땅에 평화가 깃들었다.	So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
