절	새한글성경 (2024)	King James Version
1	모르드개가 임금을 살린 일로 높임받다 그날 밤 임금은 잠이 오지 않았다. 그래서 역사일지를 가져오라고 해서 임금 앞에서 읽게 했다.	On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.
2	거기에는 모르드개가 임금의 왕궁 관리 두 사람 빅단과 데레스에 관해 보고했던 일이 적혀 있었다. 그들은 문을 지키던 사람들 가운데 있었는데, 손을 뻗어 크세르크세스 임금을 죽이려 했던 것이다.	And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.
3	임금이 말했다. “이 일로 모르드개한테 무엇을 해 주었소? 칭찬해 주거나 높여 준 적이 있소?” 임금을 섬기는 아랫사람들이 말했다. “그에게 해 준 것은 아무것도 없습니다.”	And the king said, What honour and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king’s servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him.
4	임금이 말했다. “뜰에 누가 있느냐?” 마침 하만이 왕궁 바깥뜰에 들어왔다. 임금에게 말하여, 모르드개를 매달려고 마련해 둔 나무 기둥에 그를 매달도록 하려는 참이었다.	And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king’s house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.
5	임금의 아랫사람들이 그에게 말했다. “여기, 하만이 뜰에 서 있습니다.” 임금이 말했다. “들여보내라.”	And the king’s servants said unto him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.
6	하만이 들어오자 임금이 그에게 말했다. “임금이 칭찬해 주고 싶어 하는 사람에게는 어떻게 해 주면 좋겠소?” 하만이 속으로 말했다. ‘임금이 나보다 더 칭찬해 주고 싶어 하는 사람이 누가 있겠어?’	So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself?
7	하만이 임금에게 말했다. “임금님께서 칭찬해 주고 싶어 하시는 사람을 위해서는,	And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour,
8	임금님께서 입으시는 임금의 옷을 가져오십시오. 임금님께서 타시는 말을 가져오시고, 말 머리에는 왕관을 씌우십시오.	Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:
9	그 옷과 말을 임금님의 고위 관리들 가운데 한 사람에게 주어, 임금님께서 칭찬하고 싶어 하시는 그 사람에게 옷을 입히라 하십시오. 도시 광장에서 그 사람을 말에 태우고, 그의 앞에서 이렇게 외치라 하십시오. ‘임금님께서 칭찬해 주고 싶어 하시는 사람은 이렇게 됩니다!’”	And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may array the man withal whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
10	임금이 하만에게 말했다. “그대가 말한 대로 어서 옷과 말을 챙기시오. 왕궁 문에 앉아 있는 유다 사람 모르드개에게 그대로 해 주시오. 그대가 말한 것 가운데 하나도 빠뜨리지 마시오.”	Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king’s gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.
11	하만은 옷과 말을 챙겼고, 모르드개에게 옷을 입혀 주었다. 그리고 도시 광장에서 그를 말에 태우고, 그의 앞에서 외쳤다. “임금님께서 칭찬해 주고 싶어 하시는 사람은 이렇게 됩니다!”	Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
12	모르드개는 왕궁 문으로 돌아왔다. 하만은 슬퍼하며 머리를 감싸 쥔 채로 서둘러 집으로 갔다.	And Mordecai came again to the king’s gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.
13	하만은 그의 아내 세레스와 그의 모든 친구에게, 자신이 겪은 일을 모두 이야기해 주었다. 그러자 지혜로운 사람들과 아내 세레스가 말했다. “당신이 모르드개 앞에서 넘어지기 시작했군요. 그 사람이 유다 사람들의 후손이면, 당신은 그를 이길 수 없어요. 당신은 그 사람 앞에서 반드시 넘어질 거예요.”	And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.
14	하만이 나무 기둥에 달리다 그들이 그에게 말하고 있는데 임금의 왕궁 관리들이 왔다. 그들은 서둘러 하만을 데리고 에스더가 마련해 둔 잔치에 갔다.	And while they were yet talking with him, came the king’s chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman unto the banquet that Esther had prepared.
