절	새한글성경 (2024)	King James Version
1	신명기는 모세가 온 이스라엘에게 한 말씀 말씀들은 이러하다. 그것들은 모세가 요르단 건너편에서 온 이스라엘에게 전한 말씀들이다. 숩 맞은편 아라바 광야에서였다. 그곳은 바란, 도벨, 라반, 하세롯, 디사합 사이에 있었다.	These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.
2	호렙에서 세일산 길로 가데스바르네아까지 가는 데는 11일이 걸린다.	(There are eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadesh–barnea.)
3	마흔째 해 열한째 달 첫째 날에, 모세는 이스라엘 사람들에게 여호와께서 말하라고 명령하신 모든 것을 그대로 말해 주었다.	And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the Lord had given him in commandment unto them;
4	헤스본에서 다스리고 있던 아모리 임금 시혼을 쳐부수고, 아스다롯에서 다스리고 있던 바산 임금 옥을 에드레이에서 쳐부순 뒤였다.	After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei:
5	요르단 건너편 곧 모압 땅에서 모세는 이런 가르침을 풀어 말하기 시작했다.	On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,
6	약속의 땅을 차지하라고 하셨습니다 “여호와 우리 하나님이 호렙에서 우리에게 말씀하셨습니다. ‘너희가 이 산에 오래 머물렀다.	The Lord our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:
7	이제 다시 길을 나서서 아모리 사람의 산지로 들어가거라. 또 그의 모든 이웃 지역으로 가거라. 곧 아라바, 산지, 세펠라, 네게브, 지중해 연안, 가나안 사람들의 땅, 레바논을 거쳐 큰 강 유프라테스까지 가거라.	Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.
8	보아라, 내가 이 땅을 너희 앞에 두었다. 들어가서 그 땅을 차지하여라. 이 땅을 여호와가 너희 조상들인 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게, 또 그들 뒤를 이을 그들의 후손에게 주기로 굳게 약속했다.’” ()	Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.
9	짐을 나눠 짊어질 사람들을 세웠습니다 “그때 내가 그대들에게 말했습니다. ‘나 혼자서는 그대들을 짊어질 수 없습니다.	And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:
10	여호와 그대들의 하나님이 그대들의 수가 많아지게 하셨습니다. 보세요! 오늘 그대들은 하늘의 별처럼 많습니다.	The Lord your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.
11	여호와 그대들 조상들의 하나님이 그대들의 수를 지금보다 1,000배나 더 많아지게 하실 것입니다. 또 그대들에게 말씀하신 대로 복 주실 것입니다.	(The Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)
12	그대들의 무거운 짐과 다툼을 어떻게 나 혼자서 다 짊어질 수 있겠습니까?	How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?
13	지혜롭고 분별력이 있고 평판 좋은 사람들을 그대들의 지파들 가운데서 찾아서 모시고 오십시오. 내가 그분들을 그대들 가운데 어른으로 모시겠습니다.’	Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.
14	그러자 그대들이 나에게 대답했습니다. ‘말씀하신 대로 하면 좋겠습니다.’	And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.
15	그래서 내가 지혜롭고 평판 좋은 사람들을 그대들 각 지파의 어른으로 받아들였습니다. 그분들을 그대들 위에 어른으로 세워 주었습니다. 그대들 각 지파의 천명대장과 백명대장과 오십명대장과 열명대장과 행정관으로요.”	So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.
16	공의롭게 판가름하라고 명령했습니다 “그때 그대들의 재판관들에게는 내가 이렇게 명령했습니다. ‘그대들의 형제자매들 사이에서 말을 잘 들어 보십시오! 그러고는 이스라엘 사람과 다른 이스라엘 사람 사이뿐만 아니라 이스라엘 사람과 나그네 사이에서도 공의롭게 판가름하십시오.	And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.
17	판가름할 때는 겉모습을 보고 편들지 마십시오. 힘없는 사람의 말이든 힘 있는 사람의 말이든 마찬가지로 그 말을 잘 들어 보십시오. 사람을 무서워하지 마십시오. 재판은 하나님의 일이니까요. 그대들에게 버거운 사건은 나에게로 가져오십시오. 내가 그 내용을 잘 들어 보겠습니다.’	Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.
18	그대들이 할 모든 일을 나는 그때 그대들에게 명령했습니다.” ()	And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.
19	그대들은 하나님을 믿지 않았습니다 “그러고 나서 우리는 호렙을 떠나 그 모든 크고 두려운 광야를 걸어왔습니다. 그대들이 본 광야입니다. 아모리 사람들의 산지 길로 왔습니다. 여호와 우리 하나님이 명령하신 대로요. 마침내 가데스바르네아에 이르렀지요.	And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the Lord our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh–barnea.
20	그때 내가 그대들에게 말했습니다. ‘그대들이 여호와 우리 하나님이 우리에게 주실 아모리 사람들의 산지까지 왔습니다.	And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the Lord our God doth give unto us.
21	보십시오, 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대 앞에 이 땅을 두셨습니다. 올라가서 차지하십시오. 여호와 그대 조상들의 하나님이 그대에게 말씀하신 대로요. 두려워하지도 말고 겁먹지도 마십시오.’	Behold, the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
22	그러자 그대들이 모두 나에게 가까이 와서 말했습니다. ‘우리 앞서 사람들을 보내어, 우리를 위해서 그 땅을 살펴보게 하시지요. 그런 다음에 우리가 올라갈 길과 우리가 들어갈 여러 도시가 어떤지 우리에게 보고하게 하시지요.’	And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.
23	그 말이 좋다고 생각하여, 내가 그대들 가운데서 열두 명을 뽑았습니다, 지파마다 한 명씩을요.	And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:
24	그들은 떠나 산지로 올라가서, 에스골 마른시내까지 들어갔습니다. 그 땅을 다니며 살펴보았지요.	And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.
25	그러고는 그 땅의 열매를 손에 들고서 우리에게로 가져왔습니다. 그들이 우리에게 보고하기를 ‘여호와 우리 하나님이 우리에게 주실 땅은 좋습니다.’라고 말했습니다.	And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the Lord our God doth give us.
26	그런데 그대들은 올라가려 하지 않고 여호와 그대들의 하나님의 명령을 거슬렀습니다.	Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God:
27	그대들의 천막에서 투덜댔지요. ‘여호와께서는 우리가 미워서, 우리를 이집트 땅에서 끌어내어 아모리 사람들의 손에 넘겨 없애 버리시려는 거야.	And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the Lord hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
28	우리더러 어디로 올라가란 말씀이지? 우리의 심장이 덜컥 내려앉았어. 우리의 형제들이 이렇게 말했거든. 「그 땅 백성은 우리보다 몸도 크고 키도 큽니다. 도시들도 크고 튼튼하며 하늘에 닿을 듯 우뚝 솟았습니다. 거기에서 아낙 사람들도 보았습니다.」’	Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.
29	그래서 내가 그대들을 격려했습니다. ‘겁내지 마십시오. 그들을 두려워하지도 마십시오.	Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.
30	여호와 그대들의 하나님, 그대들 앞에 가시는 분이 그대들을 위해 싸우실 것입니다. 이집트에서 그대들의 눈앞에서 그대들에게 그처럼 온갖 일을 해 주셨습니다.	The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
31	광야에서 그대는 보았습니다, 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대를 안아 옮기신 것을요. 아버지가 아들을 안아 옮기는 것처럼 하셨지요. 그대들이 이곳에 이르기까지 걸어왔던 그 모든 길에서 그렇게 하셨어요.’	And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
32	그런데 이런 일을 겪고서도 그대들은 여호와 그대들의 하나님을 믿지 않았습니다.	Yet in this thing ye did not believe the Lord your God,
33	그분은 그대들보다 앞서 길을 가면서, 그대들이 진 칠 곳을 찾아내어 주신 분이십니다. 그대들이 갈 길을 밤에는 불로, 낮에는 구름으로 보여 주신 분이십니다.” ()	Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.
34	그 땅에 들어가지 못한다고 말씀하셨습니다 “여호와께서 그대들의 말소리를 듣고 화가 나셨습니다. 그래서 굳게 다짐하셨습니다.	And the Lord heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,
35	‘이 악한 세대 사람 가운데서 그 누가 볼 수 있겠는가, 그 좋은 땅 곧 내가 그들의 조상들에게 주기로 굳게 약속한 땅을!	Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,
36	그 땅을 볼 사람은 여분네의 아들 갈렙뿐이다. 그가 밟는 그 땅을 내가 그와 그의 자손에게 줄 것이다. 그가 있는 힘을 다해 여호와를 따랐기 때문이다.’	Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the Lord.
37	여호와께서 그대들 때문에 나에게도 화내며 말씀하셨습니다. ‘너도 그리로 들어가지 못할 것이다.	Also the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.
38	너를 시중드는 눈의 아들 여호수아가 그리로 들어갈 것이다. 그를 격려해 주어라! 바로 여호수아가 이스라엘에게 그 땅을 차지하게 해 줄 사람이거든.	But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
39	약탈 대상이 될 것이라고 너희가 말한 아이들, 또 무엇이 좋고 나쁜지 오늘 아직 알지 못하는 아들딸이 그리로 들어갈 것이다. 그들에게 내가 그 땅을 주어, 그들이 그 땅을 차지하게 할 것이다.	Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.
40	너희는 방향을 바꾸어 홍해 길을 걸어 광야로 나아가거라!’	But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
41	그러자 그대들이 나에게 대답했습니다. ‘우리가 여호와께 죄를 지었습니다. 여호와 우리 하나님이 우리에게 명령하신 그대로 우리가 올라가서 싸우겠습니다.’ 그리고 그대들은 저마다 무기를 갖추고 쉽게 생각하며 산지로 올라갔지요.	Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the Lord, we will go up and fight, according to all that the Lord our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.
42	여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨습니다. ‘그들에게 말해 주어라. 「적들 앞에서 무너지지 않으려면, 올라가지도 말고 싸우지도 마라! 내가 너희 가운데 있지 않기 때문이다.」’	And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.
43	내가 그렇게 말해 주었는데도, 그대들은 듣지 않았습니다. 여호와의 명령을 거스르며 주제넘게 산지로 올라갔습니다.	So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and went presumptuously up into the hill.
44	그러자 그 산지에 살던 아모리 사람들이 나와서 그대들과 맞섰습니다. 그대들을 세일에서 호르마까지 벌떼처럼 뒤쫓아 와서 흩어 버렸습니다.	And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.
45	그대들은 물러나서 여호와 앞에서 울었습니다. 그렇지만 여호와께서는 그대들의 소리를 듣지 않으셨고, 그대들에게 귀 기울이지 않으셨습니다.	And ye returned and wept before the Lord; but the Lord would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.
46	그대들은 가데스에서 많은 날 동안 머물렀습니다. 곧 그대들이 머물렀던 날수대로요.”	So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.
