1	아론의 아들들 아론과 모세에게서 태어난 사람들은 이러했다. 여호와께서 시나이산에서 모세와 말씀을 나누시던 때였다.	These also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the Lord spake with Moses in mount Sinai.
2	아론의 아들들 이름은 이러했다. 맏아들은 나답이고, 그다음으로는 아비후와 엘르아살과 이다말이었다.	And these are the names of the sons of Aaron; Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
3	아론의 아들들 이름은 이러했다. 그들은 기름부음받은 제사장들로, 모세가 그들에게 제사장 일을 맡겼다.	These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest’s office.
4	나답과 아비후는 시나이 광야에서 낯선 불을 여호와 앞에 가져갔다가 여호와 앞에서 죽었는데, 그들에게는 아들이 없었다. 엘르아살과 이다말이 그들의 아버지 아론 앞에서 제사장 일을 맡아 했다.	And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.
5	레위 사람들이 할 일을 알려 주시다 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
6	“레위 지파 사람들을 데려다가 아론 제사장 앞에 세우고 그를 섬기게 하여라.	Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.
7	그들은 만남의 천막 앞에서 아론이나 온 무리를 위해 지킬 것을 지켜서, 내가 머무는 천막의 일을 하게 하여라.	And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.
8	만남의 천막의 온갖 기구를 지키고 이스라엘 사람들을 위해 지킬 것을 지켜서, 내가 머무는 천막의 일을 하게 하여라.	And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.
9	너는 레위 사람들을 아론과 그의 아들들에게 맡겨야 한다. 레위 사람들은 내가 이스라엘 사람들 가운데서 아론에게 완전히 맡긴 사람들이다.	And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.
10	너는 아론과 그의 아들들이 제사장의 일을 맡아 잘하게 하여라. 다른 사람이 가까이 오면 죽여야 한다.”	And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest’s office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
11	레위 사람들이 맏아들을 대신하다 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
12	“보라, 내가 친히 레위 사람들을 이스라엘 사람들 가운데서 뽑아내어 이스라엘 사람들 중에 어머니 몸에서 처음 태어난 모든 맏아들을 대신하게 했다. 따라서 레위 사람들은 내 것이다.	And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;
13	맏아들은 모두 내 것이기 때문이다. 이집트 땅에서 처음 태어난 맏아들을 내가 모두 쳐 죽이던 날에, 이스라엘에서 처음 난 것이면 사람이든 집짐승이든 무엇이라도 나를 위해 내가 거룩하게 했다. 그들은 내 것이다. 나는 여호와다.”	Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the Lord.
14	1개월 이상 된 레위 남자의 수를 조사하다 여호와께서 시나이 광야에서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,
15	“너는 레위 후손의 수를 아버지 쪽 집안별로, 가문별로 조사하여라. 1개월 이상 된 남자들을 모조리 조사하여라.”	Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them.
16	모세는 여호와의 말씀대로, 여호와께 명령받은 대로 그들의 수를 조사했다.	And Moses numbered them according to the word of the Lord, as he was commanded.
17	레위의 아들들은 그 이름이 이러했다. 게르손과 그핫과 므라리였다.	And these were the sons of Levi by their names; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari.
18	가문에 따라 조사한 게르손의 아들들 이름은 립니와 시므이였다.	And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families; Libni, and Shimei.
19	가문에 따라 조사한 그핫의 아들들은 아므람, 이스할, 헤브론, 웃시엘이었다.	And the sons of Kohath by their families; Amram, and Izehar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
20	가문에 따라 조사한 므라리의 아들들은 마흘리와 무시였다. 이들은 아버지 쪽 집안에 따른 레위의 여러 가문이었다.	And the sons of Merari by their families; Mahli, and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to the house of their fathers.
21	게르손에게는 립니 가문과 시므이 가문이 있었다. 이들은 게르손 사람들의 가문이었다.	Of Gershon was the family of the Libnites, and the family of the Shimites: these are the families of the Gershonites.
22	1개월 이상 된 모든 남자의 수에 들어가는 것으로 조사된 사람은 7,500명이었다.	Those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, even those that were numbered of them were seven thousand and five hundred.
23	게르손의 여러 가문은 여호와께서 머무시는 천막 뒤인 서쪽으로 진을 치게 했다.	The families of the Gershonites shall pitch behind the tabernacle westward.
24	게르손 사람들의 아버지 쪽 집안 우두머리는 라엘의 아들 엘리아삽이었다.	And the chief of the house of the father of the Gershonites shall be Eliasaph the son of Lael.
25	만남의 천막에서 게르손 사람들이 지킬 것은 여호와께서 머무시는 천막과 그 덮개 천막과 만남의 천막 입구의 가림막이었다.	And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, the covering thereof, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,
26	또 뜰의 가림막, 여호와께서 머무시는 천막과 제단 둘레의 뜰 문에 늘어뜨리는 가림막, 온갖 예식을 치를 때 쓰는 줄이었다.	And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and the cords of it for all the service thereof.
27	그핫에게는 아므람 가문, 이스할 가문, 헤브론 가문, 웃시엘 가문이 있었다. 이들은 그핫 사람들의 가문이었다.	And of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izeharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites: these are the families of the Kohathites.
28	1개월 이상 된 모든 남자의 수에 들어가는 사람은 8,600명인데, 이들은 거룩한곳(성소)의 지킬 것을 지키는 사람들이었다.	In the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary.
29	그핫 사람들의 가문은 여호와께서 머무시는 천막의 남쪽으로 진을 치게 했다.	The families of the sons of Kohath shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle southward.
30	그핫 가문의 아버지 쪽 집안 우두머리는 웃시엘의 아들 엘리사반이었다.	And the chief of the house of the father of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel.
31	그들이 지킬 것은 증언상자, 상, 등불받침대, 여러 제단, 그들이 섬기는 데 쓰는 거룩한곳(성소)의 여러 기구, 가림막이었다. 또 그 일에 쓰는 것 전부였다.	And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof.
32	아론 제사장의 아들 엘르아살은 레위 사람들의 최고 우두머리로서, 거룩한곳(성소)의 지켜야 할 것을 맡아 지킬 사람들을 감독해야 했다.	And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be chief over the chief of the Levites, and have the oversight of them that keep the charge of the sanctuary.
33	므라리에게는 마흘리 가문과 무시 가문이 있었다. 이들은 므라리의 가문이었다.	Of Merari was the family of the Mahlites, and the family of the Mushites: these are the families of Merari.
34	그들 가운데 조사된 사람으로 1개월 이상 된 모든 남자의 수는 6,200명이었다.	And those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were six thousand and two hundred.
35	므라리 가문의 아버지 쪽 집안 우두머리는 아비하일의 아들 수리엘이었다. 그들은 여호와께서 머무시는 천막의 북쪽으로 진을 치게 했다.	And the chief of the house of the father of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail: these shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle northward.
36	므라리 사람들이 맡아 지킬 것은 여호와께서 머무시는 천막의 널빤지, 가로목, 기둥, 받침, 그 온갖 기구였다. 곧 그 일에 쓰는 모든 것이었다.	And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all that serveth thereto,
37	또 뜰 사방 기둥, 받침, 말뚝, 줄도 있었다.	And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.
38	여호와께서 머무시는 천막 앞쪽 곧 동쪽, 만남의 천막 앞쪽 곧 해 떠오르는 방향으로 진을 칠 사람들은 모세와 아론과 그의 아들들이었다. 그들은 거룩한곳(성소)의 지켜야 할 것을 맡아 지킬 사람들이었다. 이스라엘 사람들이 지켜야 할 것을 지키도록 해 주는 사람들이었다. 다른 사람이 가까이 오면 죽여야 했다.	But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
39	모세와 아론은 여호와의 말씀대로 레위 사람들의 수를 가문에 따라 모두 조사했다. 1개월 이상 된 남자는 모두 22,000명이었다.	All that were numbered of the Levites, which Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the Lord, throughout their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty and two thousand.
40	레위 사람들이 이스라엘의 맏아들을 대신하다 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. “이스라엘 사람들 가운데서 1개월 이상 된 모든 맏아들의 수를 조사하여라. 그들의 명수를 조사하여라.	And the Lord said unto Moses, Number all the firstborn of the males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.
41	그리고 너는 레위 사람들을 내 것으로 삼아라. 나는 여호와다. 그들은 이스라엘 사람들 가운데서 모든 맏아들을 대신한다. 레위 사람들의 집짐승도 그리하여라. 그것들은 이스라엘 사람들의 집짐승 가운데서 모든 첫 새끼를 대신한다.”	And thou shalt take the Levites for me (I am the Lord) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the children of Israel.
42	모세는 여호와께서 그에게 명령하신 대로 이스라엘 사람들의 모든 맏아들의 수를 조사했다.	And Moses numbered, as the Lord commanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Israel.
43	조사된 사람으로서 1개월 이상 된 맏아들은 명수대로 모두 22,273명이었다.	And all the firstborn males by the number of names, from a month old and upward, of those that were numbered of them, were twenty and two thousand two hundred and threescore and thirteen.
44	여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
45	“레위 사람들이 이스라엘 사람들 가운데서 모든 맏아들을 대신하고, 레위 사람들의 집짐승은 이스라엘 사람들의 집짐승의 첫 새끼를 대신하게 하여라. 레위 사람들은 내 것이다. 나는 여호와다.	Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord.
46	이스라엘 사람들의 맏아들 수가 레위 사람들의 수보다 273명 더 많다. 그 몸값을 치르게 해야 한다.	And for those that are to be redeemed of the two hundred and threescore and thirteen of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are more than the Levites;
47	머릿수대로 거룩한곳(성소)의 무게 단위로 쳐서 5세겔씩 받아야 한다. 1세겔은 20게라이다.	Thou shalt even take five shekels apiece by the poll, after the shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take them: (the shekel is twenty gerahs:)
48	받은 돈은 아론과 그의 아들들에게 넘겨주어야 한다. 그것은 레위 사람들의 수를 넘어서는 맏아들들의 몸값이다.”	And thou shalt give the money, wherewith the odd number of them is to be redeemed, unto Aaron and to his sons.
49	모세는, 레위 사람들이 대신하지 못하고 남은 이들에게서 몸값을 돈으로 받았다.	And Moses took the redemption money of them that were over and above them that were redeemed by the Levites:
50	이스라엘 사람들의 그런 맏아들들에게서 받은 돈이 거룩한곳(성소)의 무게 단위로 쳐서 1,365세겔이었다.	Of the firstborn of the children of Israel took he the money; a thousand three hundred and threescore and five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary:
51	모세는 몸값으로 받은 돈을 여호와의 말씀대로 아론과 그의 아들들에게 넘겨주었다. 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로였다.	And Moses gave the money of them that were redeemed unto Aaron and to his sons, according to the word of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.
