1	다윗의 자손이자 아브라함의 자손이신 예수님 예수 그리스도, 곧 다윗의 자손이며 아브라함의 자손이신 분의 출현의 기원에 대한 책.	The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2	아브라함은 이삭을 낳고, 이삭은 야곱을 낳았다. 야곱은 유다와 그의 형제들을 낳았다.	Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3	유다는 다말에게서 베레스와 세라흐를 낳았다. 베레스는 헤스론을 낳고, 헤스론은 람을 낳았다.	And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
4	람은 암미나답을 낳고, 암미나답은 나흐손을 낳고, 나흐손은 살몬을 낳았다.	And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
5	살몬은 라합에게서 보아스를 낳고, 보아스는 룻에게서 오벳을 낳고, 오벳은 이새를 낳았다.	And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
6	이새는 다윗 임금을 낳았다. 다윗은 우리야의 아내에게서 솔로몬을 낳았다.	And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
7	솔로몬은 르호보암을 낳고, 르호보암은 아비야를 낳고, 아비야는 아삽을 낳았다.	And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
8	아삽은 여호사밧을 낳고, 여호사밧은 여호람을 낳고, 여호람은 웃시야를 낳았다.	And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
9	웃시야는 요담을 낳고, 요담은 아하스를 낳고, 아하스는 히스기야를 낳았다.	And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
10	히스기야는 므낫세를 낳고, 므낫세는 아모스를 낳고, 아모스는 요시야를 낳았다.	And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;
11	요시야는 여고냐와 그의 형제들을 낳았다. 바빌론으로 끌려갈 즈음이었다.	And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12	바빌론으로 끌려가 살게 된 뒤에, 여고냐는 스알디엘을 낳고, 스알디엘은 스룹바벨을 낳았다.	And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
13	스룹바벨은 아비훗을 낳고, 아비훗은 엘리아김을 낳고, 엘리아김은 아소르를 낳았다.	And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
14	아소르는 사독을 낳고, 사독은 아킴을 낳고, 아킴은 엘리웃을 낳았다.	And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
15	엘리웃은 엘르아살을 낳고, 엘르아살은 맛단을 낳고, 맛단은 야곱을 낳았다.	And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
16	야곱은 마리아의 남편 요셉을 낳았다. 마리아에게서 그리스도라 하는 예수님이 태어나셨다.	And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17	그러므로 이 모든 세대를 셈하면, 아브라함부터 다윗까지 14대요, 다윗부터 바빌론으로 끌려가 살게 된 때까지 14대요, 바빌론으로 끌려가 살게 된 때부터 그리스도까지 14대이다. ()	So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18	예수 그리스도가 태어나시다 예수 그리스도의 태어나심은 이러했다. 예수님의 어머니 마리아가 요셉과 약혼한 때였다. 그들이 한 방을 쓰기도 전에 마리아가 아이를 가진 것이 드러났다. 아이가 생긴 것은 성령님에게서 비롯된 것이었다.	Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19	마리아의 남편 요셉은 의인이어서, 마리아에게 망신을 주려고 하지는 않았다. 마리아와 슬그머니 갈라서려고 했다.	Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20	이런 일을 요셉이 마음속에 두고 있을 때, 보라, 주님의 천사가 꿈에 나타났다. 천사가 말했다. “요셉, 다윗의 아드님! 두려워하지 말고 마리아를 그대의 아내로 맞아들이세요. 마리아에게 생긴 아이는 성령님에게서 비롯된 것이거든요.	But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21	마리아가 아들을 낳을 텐데, 그 이름을 예수라고 하세요. 바로 그 아이가 그의 백성을 그들의 여러 죄에서 구원할 것입니다.”	And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22	이 모든 일이 일어난 것은 주님이 예언자를 통해 말씀하신 것을 이루려고 하신 것이었다. 이런 말씀이었다.	Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23	“보라, 처녀가 아이를 가져 아들을 낳을 텐데, 사람들이 그 이름을 임마누엘이라고 부를 것이다.” 그 이름을 번역하여 옮기면 ‘하나님이 우리와 함께 계신다.’라는 뜻이다.	Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24	요셉은 잠에서 깨어 일어나서, 주님의 천사가 자기에게 지시한 대로 실행했다. 마리아를 자기 아내로 맞아들였다.	Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25	그러나 마리아가 아들을 낳을 때까지는 잠자리를 같이하지 않았다. 그리고 그의 이름을 예수라고 했다.	And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
