1	권리 포기의 본을 보인 바울 내가 자유인이 아닙니까? 내가 사도가 아닙니까? 내가 예수님, 곧 우리 주님을 뵙지 못했습니까? 여러분이야말로 주님 안에서 내가 이룩해 놓은 업적 아닙니까?	Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?
2	내가 다른 사람들한테는 사도가 아닐지라도 적어도 여러분한테는 내가 사도입니다. 주님 안에서 내가 맡은 사도 직무를 인증하는 도장이 바로 여러분이니까요.	If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.
3	나를 심문하는 사람들한테 내놓는 나의 변론은 이것입니다.	Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,
4	우리에게는 먹고 마실 권리가 없단 말입니까?	Have we not power to eat and to drink?
5	우리에게는, 다른 사도들과 주님의 형제들과 게바가 하듯이 믿는 자매인 아내를 데리고 다닐 권리가 없단 말입니까?	Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
6	오직 나하고 바르나바한테만 일하지 않을 권리가 없는 겁니까?	Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?
7	도대체 누가 자기 비용을 들여서 군 복무를 합니까? 포도밭을 일구고 그 열매를 먹지 않을 사람이 어디 있습니까? 또는 양 떼를 치고 그 양 떼의 젖을 먹지 않을 사람이 어디 있습니까?	Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
8	내가 사람들의 방식대로 이런 것들을 말하는 것이 아니잖습니까? 율법도 이런 것들을 말하지 않습니까?	Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?
9	모세의 율법에 이렇게 적혀 있잖아요. “소가 곡식을 밟아 떨 때에는 입에 망을 씌우지 마라.” 하나님이 소를 걱정하시는 것이 아니잖습니까?	For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?
10	확실히 우리 때문에 말씀하시는 것 아닙니까? 우리 때문에 이렇게 적혀 있는 겁니다. “밭을 가는 사람은 밭을 갈 때 마땅히 희망을 품을 수 있어야 한다. 또 곡식을 떠는 사람은 마땅히 몫을 나눠 가질 희망을 품을 수 있어야 한다.”	Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
11	우리가 여러분에게 영적인 것들을 뿌렸다면, 우리가 여러분한테서 육적인 것들을 거두어들인다고 한들 무슨 대단한 일이겠습니까?	If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
12	다른 사람들이 여러분한테서 한 몫 나눠 가질 권리를 가진다면, 우리야말로 더 그래야 하지 않습니까? 그러나 우리는 이 권리를 쓰지 않았으며, 오히려 모든 것을 참아 냅니다. 우리가 그리스도의 복음에 아무런 방해물을 만들지 않기 위해서입니다.	If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
13	여러분은 알지 못합니까, 성전과 관련된 일을 하는 사람은 성전에서 나는 것을 먹고, 제단 일을 맡아서 하는 사람은 제단 제물에서 그 몫을 나누어 받는다는 것을요?	Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
14	이와 같이 주님도 복음 전하는 사람들에게 복음을 전하는 일로 생활해 나가도록 정해 주셨습니다.	Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
15	그러나 나 자신은 이 권리들 가운데 어느 것도 사용해 본 적이 없습니다. 나한테 그렇게 해 달라고 이런 것들을 쓴 것은 아닙니다. 그렇게 하느니 차라리 죽는 게 나한테는 낫습니다. 누구도 나의 자랑을 헛되게 하지는 못할 겁니다!	But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.
16	내가 복음을 전하더라도, 그것이 나의 자랑거리는 아닙니다. 꼭 해야 할 일로 내게 맡겨진 일이기 때문입니다. 도리어 내가 복음을 전하지 않으면 나는 끝장입니다.	For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
17	내가 이 일을 기꺼이 하면, 나에게 보상이 있습니다. 그러나 억지로 한다면, 나는 그 일의 책임을 맡은 것입니다.	For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.
18	그러면 내가 받을 보상은 무엇입니까? 내가 복음 전할 때 대가 없이 복음을 제시하고 복음 안에서 나의 권리를 다 사용하지 않는 것입니다.	What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.
19	더 많은 사람을 얻기 위해 스스로를 내려놓은 바울 나는 모든 사람들로부터 자유로운 몸이지만 모든 사람들에게 노예가 되었습니다. 그것은 내가 더 많은 사람을 얻기 위해서입니다.	For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
20	유대아 사람들에게는 내가 유대아 사람처럼 되었습니다. 그것은 내가 유대아 사람들을 얻기 위해서입니다. 율법 아래 있는 사람들에게는 내가 율법 아래 있는 사람처럼 되었습니다. 나 자신은 율법 아래 있지 않지만, 율법 아래 있는 사람들을 얻기 위해서입니다.	And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
21	율법 없는 사람들에게는 내가 율법 없는 사람처럼 되었습니다. 내가 하나님의 율법 없이 사는 사람이 아니라 그리스도의 율법 안에 있지만, 율법 없는 사람들을 얻기 위해서입니다.	To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
22	약한 사람들에게는 내가 약한 사람이 되었습니다. 그것은 내가 약한 사람들을 얻기 위해서입니다. 나는 모든 사람들에게 모든 것이 되었습니다. 그것은 내가 무슨 수를 써서라도 몇 명이나마 구원하기 위해서입니다.	To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
23	내가 이 모든 일을 하는 것은 복음 때문입니다. 그것은 내가 복음의 복에 같이 참여하는 사람이 되기 위해서입니다.	And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
24	더 큰 목표를 위해 스스로 절제하는 운동선수의 본보기 여러분은 알지 못합니까? 경기장에서 달리기하는 사람들이 다들 달리지만 한 명만 상을 받는 것 아닙니까? 이와 같이 여러분도 상을 받도록 달리십시오.	Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25	경기에 나서는 사람마다 다들 모든 일에 절제합니다. 그런데 저 사람들은 썩을 월계관을 받으려고 그렇게 하지만, 우리는 썩지 않을 월계관을 받으려고 그렇게 합니다.	And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26	나 자신도 이제 달리는데, 목표 없이 하는 것처럼 하지 않습니다. 권투 시합을 하는데, 허공을 치는 것처럼 하지 않습니다.	I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27	오히려 내 몸을 후려치며 종으로 굴복시킵니다. 그것은 혹시라도 내가 다른 사람들에게 선포한 뒤에 나 스스로가 자격을 박탈당한 사람이 되지 않기 위해서입니다.	But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
